tha last time we where here it was quiet almost to quiet Kolbäcksån in Smedjebacken a place where a pike over 16kg have been caught where it's full of rainbow trout perfect food for a predator But last time in the fall the pike where slow and hard to catch It almost felt like they laughed at us from the deep Now we're back, it's almost summer warmer water, more activity and a new plan we're gonna fish both day and night but during the middle of the day we're gonna try and catch some rainbow To see what the pike eat - I got one! - you got one? what a jump This is not only fishing It's a hunt for a predator that might only eat once a month big! big! big! Oh damn! It's the fattest I ever seen It's brutal Tobbe But first we'll read some of your comments Veronika want us from team galant to say hello So hi to you Veronika she want ut to do a challenge at Orsa fiskecenter We've actually planned for that My wonder where we are from? what dialect do we have? We're from Småland My The same place as Emil Malin want us to fish for garfish I've never actually fished for garfish But now we're gonna fish for real pikes We've arrived here in Smedjebacken We put my boat in the water kast night but... we have some bad news we have a problem we where not supposed to fish just me and Edvin today as you now we have a Christmas calendar here at Kanalgratis filled with really cool fishing gear And in one of the calendars there are a golden ticket If you get that one you can have a whole day of fishing with us last year it was Kalle from Norrland who got the ticket he brought Khalid with him then But this time it was Mattias from Borås who will bring his friend Linus but an accident has occured Mattias has hurt his back and neck So he cannot be with us fishing today Mattias is gonna need some love and support in the comments below leave a comment wishing him a speedy recovery and of course he's gonna tag along at a later time with us but this time Edvin and I are alone out on this river where some huge pikes live I haven't been this stoked in a long time it's been months planning this and now we're here and just about to start fishing I can see a lot of baitfish on the surface My gut feeling is much better than last time we where here To reduce the risk of stepping on all the rods we have some new rod holders from Q-ergo a new company from Poland with high quality gear we can show you later how they work Now we need to have our lures in the water to catch the big fishes My girlfriend and I designed a lot of hot new colors in photofish I rigged this one before I think it will be extra hot today a fatnose that suppose to look like the bait fish in here I've actually caught some fish on it before a perfect lure during spring most small fishes are close to the edges so this one is gonna be great I've packed my lure box with all the hot lures and colors that I believe extra strong in Tobbe start with a fatnose so I'm gonna try a flatnose I've caught so many big fishes on it It has some wider profile and more round The lure is rigged and the rod is in my hands let's catch that pig first cast It's so exciting Right now we don't know where fish are so we're gonna cover as much space as possible If we get a bite in one spot we might fish there more But now we just need to search for them In the fall pikes are often gathered in a deep hole together this is totally different when the water Is much warmer I think they are spread out, along the edges and hiding so now we're fishing a lot of area And we probably find a pattern on where they are Did you see that? it was a rainbow trout I'm after the ones that are eating the rainbow trouts they seem hungry to go after this big one he might be colorblind I don't know but no pikes yet I think it gonna strike soon I got a bite - a rainbow trout? - No I don't think so I think it was a rainbow trout that loves that flatnose That was now rainbow trout That strike was so hard I can't see any new bite marks though But that was now bait fish The sun decided to join us behind the clouds It's not so great when fishing for big pikes During fall they often bite during the whole day But in the summer I think it's best to fish in the morning and evenings so we keep on grinding with our lures in the water I got one - is it even a fish? - yeah it is - It's a branch - no it isn't I felt it moving It's a fish a pike But smaller than a rainbow trout we got here to fish for giant pikes And so far Mattias you're not missing out I'll release it quick It's not big Sometimes we fish with lures that big They are hungry Sometimes fishing in a river like this can be really hot and efficent But do not underestimate fishing from shore You can find some new angles to cast and you're not scaring the fish we hope to catch a pike from land This is the most important when there are some really big pikes You need to have the drag set hard - let's do this Edvin - yes let's do it we've had one of our best pike fishing ever in a river from land
