There's a lot of beautiful fish in the sea, but this one is the ugliest.
I'm Alex Farnham and this is Animalist Breaking News.
The blobfish was just named the world's ugliest animal by the Ugly Animal Preservation Society.
This endangered species floats off the coast of Australia.
Its jelly-like flesh keeps it afloat just above the ocean floor and it's not edible.
Simon Watt of the Ugly Animal Preservation Society states we've needed an ugly face for
endangered animals for a long time.
The blobfish beat out a bunch of endangered animals that are very ugly and funny looking,
clearly because its face looks like this.
To find out how the public is reacting to this news, we asked a few animal lovers their
opinions.
So how do you feel about the blobfish being named the world's ugliest animal?
I think that's just terrible.
That's a disgrace.
All creatures are beautiful.
I pondered the question myself if being deemed the ugliest animal in the world is a moment
of despair or a moment of great accomplishment.
To answer these questions, we stopped by the studio with an in-depth interview with the
blobfish itself.
Thank you very much.
Well, there you have it, folks.
Finally, we're giving recognition to the endangered species that aren't only cute and cuddly like
the panda bear, but ones that make you want to hurl.
