9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 They're making Fairgames,[br]the one with the monkey masks. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Also, in the corresponding [br]Resetera thread, Jason Schreier himself 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 confirmed that are removing [br]the dollar sign S from the Fairgames. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I think that's the right call but also[br]it's not like it's gonna change anything. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 It's like ordering a pizza topped with: 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and then saying, "Wait, hold on.[br]That's crazy. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Hold the jelly." 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Anyway, the report itself is a bummer.[br]It says: 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So for the founder and CEO of the studio 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 to leave at this point in Fairgames' [br]development, not a great sign. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I went back and read some articles [br]from the launch press event Haven held 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 back when it was first acquired. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Canada's CTV was there, even.[br]It was a big deal. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 It's PlayStation's first Canadian studio. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 CTV ANCHOR: And its founder has become 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 one of the most influential women [br]in the industry. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 KYLE: So yeah, it's a feel-bad story that [br]this game might not be turning out so well. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 However, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 there are elements of it [br]that are maybe not feel-bad. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 While Fairgames is, yes, [br]the monkey mask game, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 it's also the 3D AI-generated mask game. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And as part of that studio launch event, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 when they were explaining [br]what makes it unique, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 a bit thing that was emphasized 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 is how streamlined this studio's [br]development pipeline was gonna be. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Look at this: 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Cool. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Uh-oh. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Yeah, so because they didn't have [br]much to talk about, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 when they were bringing these people in: 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 it's mostly just to talk about 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 how hypothetically impressive [br]their technology's going to be. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 This is the funniest part to me, from the [br]GamesIndustry.biz report of the event: 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 [raspberry] 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 [while coughing] Why are you [br]showing the people? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 3 years later, it sounds like they're really [br]struggling to get this video game together, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 despite all of their AI technology. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And I realize it's not rare for a video game [br]to spend 5 months in development 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 but do remember, back when Hermen Hulst was [br]excited to announce that Haven would be 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 joining the PlayStation family,[br]he had this to say: 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 At a certain point, [br]I'm not saying it's this point right now, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 but I do fear, maybe in the near future, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 we're gonna have to start questioning [br]Hermen Hulst's taste in video games. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Not his taste in jackets, obviously. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 But you have to wonder [br]what he saw in Fairgames 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 that isn't present today, 3 years later. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And then just last week, [br]a brand new studio 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 received Hermen Hulst's [br]potential kiss of death. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Joining the PlayStation Studios's family: 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Now, before you get excited, LFG in this [br]instance stands for Looking for Group. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So do you remember last year [br]when Bungie announced 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 they were eliminating 17% [br]of their studio's workforce? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 A little part of that announcement[br]is that there would be an incubation team 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 that would become [br]a brand new PlayStation Studios studio: 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Personally, I only remember it because, [br]at the time, it was codenamed Gummybears. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Well, you're looking at Gummybears [br]right here. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And what I find unique about [br]this particular studio announcement 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 is how specific and [br]slightly charming it is. They say: 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 It's almost like they're blissfully unaware [br]of how high the stakes are here, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 that everything within 3 short years [br]could just come crashing down. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And it-- It's also interesting [br]how they describe their game. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Typically, you wouldn't say too much. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Back in that old press release for Haven, [br]they described what would become Fairgames as: 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And that's normal.
