spot even better

today we're gonna show you how to
build a perch hotel

If you don't know what a perch hotel is

It's Team Galants own version of

so that fish will hide there for us
fisherman to fish there

cut down trees

take them out on the water
and sink them with stones

we're gonna catch up
on fish conservation today

and create some hot fishing spots

You're gonna see how I build 
all my perch hotels in open water

I've done this over 30 times 
through the years

But what is a perch hotel?

it's a collection of trees and sticks

and trail them out on the water

and then sunk them to the bottom
with some stones

they create a good spot for mating
and a place to stay and hide at

that makes them great spots
for fishing

Today we're at a large clear water lake

I've been fishing here a lot in my life

and know that they make a huge difference

There are not a lot of structures
on the bottom naturally here

like stones or so

it makes a lot of difference in lakes
when it's naturally is missing

Next stop, Perch hotel

How much should we be charging

Here's a tree that will work

a lot of branches

a perfect spruce tree for the perches

First tree down

- how many do you think we need?

or 5 depending on the size of them

I found a decent pine tree over here

It will be great in the water for 
a long time I think

that I planned for this perch hotel

Furthest out on a under water ridge
with a lot of stones

usually a great fishing spot

But it will be so much hotter now

The tree is floating August, is that why
we needed all those stones?

we need to sink the tree,
how do we do that?

I have a lot of rope here

organic ropes that are not bad
for nature

You don't wanna use plastic ropes

We'll tie the rope to the stones
and then on the tree

and hopefully the tree will sink

I have never tied a rope to a stone before

I know how to tie knots

I'll start with a loop

I'll tread it around the stone and 
pull all the rope through the loop

almost like a lasso

and then a few times around it

I think this will do

He has emptied his own pond

and we have a lot of questions
on the progress of it

His pond isn't that far from here

I think we should do an inspection
and see how's it going

I've been building a lot of perch hotels

and we're visiting one where we hope
that the perch are checked in

just like us human the perch are checked
in mostly during summer

but it wont stop us

there are always some tourist
during the winter aswell

lets hope there is som fat

I can tell by the sonar that we are
at the right spot

and I can see that there are fish here

but not to slow

we know that they are here

They might not be fully checked in yet

so we have to search for them anyway
