This keyboard has a screen - Epomaker RT80 and RT65

  • 0:00 - 0:02
    So we're gonna check out
    two keyboards here
  • 0:02 - 0:03
    from Epomaker,
  • 0:03 - 0:04
who are also sponsoring this video.
  • 0:04 - 0:05
They wanted me to check out
  • 0:05 - 0:06
    two of their keyboards
  • 0:06 - 0:08
    that are pretty unique.
  • 0:09 - 0:10
One of them has a mini screen,
  • 0:10 - 0:11
    a detachable screen,
  • 0:11 - 0:12
    it also has a joystick.
  • 0:13 - 0:15
And then the other one has another screen
  • 0:15 - 0:16
    built into it,
  • 0:17 - 0:17
    which is wild.
  • 0:17 - 0:19
There's a lot actually going on here.
  • 0:19 - 0:21
Anyway, let's actually look at the boxes.
  • 0:21 - 0:23
    Let's actually look
    at what we've got here.
  • 0:23 - 0:25
So yeah, this is the 65% layout.
  • 0:25 - 0:26
    RT65.
  • 0:26 - 0:29
It has a detachable mini display, mini TV.
  • 0:29 - 0:30
    RGB lights, stuff like that.
  • 0:30 - 0:32
Let's get into this one first.
  • 0:35 - 0:36
    Okay. Manual.
  • 0:36 - 0:37
    We don't need a manual.
  • 0:38 - 0:39
    Accessories.
  • 0:39 - 0:40
Let's have a look at what we've got.
  • 0:40 - 0:42
    Okay, so we've got keys.
  • 0:42 - 0:44
    We have got the display.
  • 0:45 - 0:46
    Yo.
  • 0:47 - 0:49
    This is tiny.
  • 0:54 - 0:55
    USB-C as well.
  • 0:55 - 0:56
    That is tiny.
  • 0:57 - 0:58
That's actually crazy how small it is.
  • 0:59 - 1:00
What else have we got in here?
  • 1:02 - 1:02
    Oh, wow.
  • 1:02 - 1:05
We have got one hefty USB cable here.
  • 1:05 - 1:07
    So USB-A on one end,
  • 1:07 - 1:08
    USB-C on the other.
  • 1:09 - 1:10
Comes in a leather strap as well.
  • 1:10 - 1:12
    Let's get to the keyboard.
  • 1:13 - 1:15
If you're a Mac user like me,
  • 1:15 - 1:16
    they do have the option
  • 1:16 - 1:18
    and command keys as well
  • 1:18 - 1:19
so you can replace them on the keyboard.
  • 1:19 - 1:22
So this is a 65% layout
  • 1:22 - 1:24
and this colourway is quite interesting.
  • 1:24 - 1:27
It's kind of like a beigey, browny colourway.
  • 1:28 - 1:30
Not a colourway that you see that often,
    to be honest, at all.
  • 1:30 - 1:31
    Already sounds...
  • 1:33 - 1:34
    Already sounds incredible.
  • 1:34 - 1:35
    This joystick here, though,
  • 1:35 - 1:36
    that is pretty cool.
  • 1:37 - 1:39
It literally feels like a joystick that you get
  • 1:39 - 1:40
    on a proper controller.
  • 1:41 - 1:43
I'm not sure what you would use it for, though.
  • 1:43 - 1:45
    I assume it's completely customisable,
  • 1:45 - 1:47
so you can do whatever you like with it.
  • 1:47 - 1:49
But I can imagine this on like a canvas.
  • 1:49 - 1:51
Imagine like you're on Figma or Photoshop.
  • 1:51 - 1:52
Being able to move around the canvas
  • 1:52 - 1:53
    with the joystick.
  • 1:54 - 1:54
    That'd be pretty cool.
  • 1:55 - 1:57
Of course, we can turn it on.
  • 1:57 - 1:59
And it has a 3000 mAh battery.
  • 1:59 - 2:01
We can see the RGB effects there.
  • 2:02 - 2:03
    Pretty insane.
  • 2:03 - 2:04
There's a lot going on here.
  • 2:04 - 2:06
And they're south facing RGB as well,
  • 2:06 - 2:07
so you can actually see it.
  • 2:07 - 2:08
    This is also pretty neat.
  • 2:09 - 2:09
    The RGB on there.
  • 2:09 - 2:11
I assume you can customise that.
  • 2:11 - 2:13
We also have the transmitter here
  • 2:13 - 2:15
    for connecting it wirelessly
  • 2:15 - 2:16
    to your PC.
  • 2:16 - 2:18
I assume if you don't wanna use Bluetooth.
  • 2:19 - 2:20
    And of course,
  • 2:20 - 2:24
the display goes in to here like so.
  • 2:25 - 2:26
    Oh, there we go.
  • 2:26 - 2:27
    Can you guys see that?
  • 2:28 - 2:30
That-- It just works right away.
  • 2:30 - 2:31
    So it looks like
  • 2:31 - 2:32
you can see your battery life,
  • 2:32 - 2:34
    you can see the date,
  • 2:34 - 2:35
    you can see...
  • 2:35 - 2:37
If I wake the keyboard up.
  • 2:37 - 2:39
    You can see it's searching
  • 2:39 - 2:41
    for Bluetooth connectivity.
  • 2:41 - 2:43
    That is pretty awesome.
  • 2:43 - 2:45
    That is actually sweet.
  • 2:45 - 2:46
    That's pretty smart.
  • 2:46 - 2:48
This USB cable is really nice.
  • 2:48 - 2:50
It has USB-A, USB-C on one end,
  • 2:50 - 2:51
    nice and thick.
  • 2:53 - 2:55
And yeah, some orange accents as well.
  • 2:56 - 2:58
These are some really nice USB cables.
  • 2:58 - 2:59
    Very premium feeling.
  • 2:59 - 3:02
    I think the thickness
of the cable alone is pretty awesome.
  • 3:02 - 3:05
    [keyboard clicking]
  • 3:12 - 3:13
    Let's move that aside.
  • 3:13 - 3:16
And now let's look at the RT80.
  • 3:16 - 3:17
We have a display on here as well.
  • 3:18 - 3:20
    75% layout.
  • 3:21 - 3:22
    Very similar to the RT60,
  • 3:22 - 3:25
but of course, a 75% layout.
  • 3:25 - 3:27
And this one is in my favourite colourway,
  • 3:27 - 3:28
    which is black.
  • 3:28 - 3:30
    It's just nice and simple.
  • 3:30 - 3:32
    Accessories should be fairly similar.
  • 3:32 - 3:33
    Oh nice, they actually give
  • 3:34 - 3:36
    a matching
  • 3:36 - 3:37
    USB cable with this one,
  • 3:37 - 3:40
so you don't have the same colour USB cable,
  • 3:40 - 3:41
you do have a matching one.
  • 3:41 - 3:43
    This is in grey,
  • 3:43 - 3:44
    which I like.
  • 3:44 - 3:45
    And on this side--
  • 3:45 - 3:46
    Oh, interesting.
  • 3:46 - 3:49
    So they've given actually
a bunch of other keys here,
  • 3:50 - 3:51
    keycaps here.
  • 3:52 - 3:54
So if you have the enter key
  • 3:54 - 3:56
in three different colours pretty much.
  • 3:56 - 3:57
    Oh, there's white as well.
  • 3:57 - 3:59
Yeah, so green, white, blue, and red.
  • 3:59 - 4:02
Ooh, I do like the look of this already.
  • 4:03 - 4:06
    This is probably already
my favourite out of the two.
  • 4:07 - 4:08
    For a few reasons.
  • 4:08 - 4:10
I mean, the main one being that it is black.
  • 4:10 - 4:12
Yeah, I really do like the look of this a lot.
  • 4:13 - 4:15
This is a really nice looking keyboard.
  • 4:15 - 4:16
    Nice and minimal.
  • 4:16 - 4:17
    Nice and clean.
  • 4:17 - 4:18
    There's a screen here.
  • 4:19 - 4:22
Let's peel that off like so.
  • 4:23 - 4:25
    But what I also like
    is that there's media controls.
  • 4:26 - 4:28
So when I'm either working or gaming,
  • 4:29 - 4:31
I listen to music all the time,
  • 4:31 - 4:32
    literally, constantly.
  • 4:32 - 4:34
Being able to have dedicated media controls
  • 4:34 - 4:35
    to control my music.
  • 4:35 - 4:37
That is a really nice feature to have.
  • 4:37 - 4:38
    Oh, wow. Okay.
  • 4:38 - 4:41
The RGB on this, I think, looks incredible.
  • 4:41 - 4:44
    You can actually see it
    much better on this keyboard.
  • 4:45 - 4:48
The screen as well, it's pretty awesome.
  • 4:49 - 4:51
    So we also have the...
  • 4:52 - 4:56
    2.-- Is it 2.4 gigahertz
    transmitter here as well?
  • 4:56 - 4:57
If I can get it out there.
  • 4:57 - 4:58
    There we go.
  • 4:58 - 4:59
    It is 2.4, right? Yeah.
  • 5:00 - 5:02
2.4 gigahertz transmitter as well here.
  • 5:03 - 5:05
It's actually nice that we have it here,
  • 5:05 - 5:06
so that you don't lose it.
  • 5:06 - 5:07
    Because the amount of times
  • 5:07 - 5:10
I've lost dongles and transmitters and stuff,
  • 5:10 - 5:11
because it's like in the box or something,
  • 5:11 - 5:14
    it's not actually attached
to the keyboard in some way.
  • 5:14 - 5:15
    It's just quite annoying.
  • 5:15 - 5:17
    So with the RT80,
  • 5:17 - 5:19
    we have a 75% layout,
  • 5:19 - 5:21
which is definitely my preferred layout.
  • 5:21 - 5:23
I like having the functional row of keys.
  • 5:23 - 5:25
65% layout, I know for some people,
  • 5:25 - 5:26
    it's great, it's amazing,
  • 5:26 - 5:29
but I always miss the functional row of keys.
  • 5:29 - 5:32
I just like having the dedicated
    row of function keys,
  • 5:32 - 5:34
    for my typing experience,
  • 5:34 - 5:37
    my typing preference
it just makes more sense for me.
  • 5:37 - 5:40
This also has a 5000 mAh battery.
  • 5:40 - 5:42
    So much bigger battery,
  • 5:42 - 5:45
    and so it should last
for quite a bit longer too.
  • 5:45 - 5:47
On the bottom, there are different levels
  • 5:47 - 5:48
that you can stand it up at,
  • 5:48 - 5:51
    which is nice because
    I know for some people
  • 5:51 - 5:54
that can be a big thing, like having
  • 5:55 - 5:57
the ability to angle the keyboard up
  • 5:57 - 5:58
    can make a big difference.
  • 5:58 - 6:00
Okay, so I've connected the keyboard
  • 6:00 - 6:02
    to my Mac via USB-C,
  • 6:02 - 6:03
and we can see the screen.
  • 6:03 - 6:05
This is in sort of its default state,
  • 6:05 - 6:06
but we can swipe on it
  • 6:06 - 6:08
and we can get some functions
  • 6:08 - 6:09
    to control our Mac.
  • 6:09 - 6:11
And obviously, you have four functions here,
  • 6:11 - 6:14
    four, basically, touch screen panels.
  • 6:14 - 6:16
    And yeah, you can change
what you have on them as well.
  • 6:17 - 6:20
    It's customisable, obviously,
these are just the default options.
  • 6:20 - 6:21
    But that's pretty awesome,
  • 6:21 - 6:23
    because you could basically put--
  • 6:23 - 6:25
    I think pretty much
    whatever you like in here.
  • 6:25 - 6:28
    [keyboard clicking]
  • 6:31 - 6:33
    What blows my mind
    about both of these keyboards
  • 6:33 - 6:34
    is the price.
  • 6:34 - 6:37
They're less than $100 each of them.
  • 6:37 - 6:40
    I think, this one,
last time I looked was less than $70,
  • 6:40 - 6:41
which is just crazy good value
  • 6:41 - 6:42
    for a keyboard like this
  • 6:42 - 6:44
    with all of this functionality.
  • 6:44 - 6:46
    So I also have
    an Apple Magic Keyboard here
  • 6:46 - 6:47
and you can see the difference.
  • 6:47 - 6:48
    There's a massive difference here.
  • 6:48 - 6:50
Here you have a mechanical keyboard
  • 6:50 - 6:52
    and here you have
a sort of chiclet style keyboard.
  • 6:52 - 6:53
We can see the Magic Keyboard
  • 6:53 - 6:54
    is thin and smaller,
  • 6:54 - 6:56
    but if you prefer
  • 6:56 - 6:58
    the mechanical typing experience,
  • 6:58 - 6:59
of course you need something bigger.
  • 6:59 - 7:00
    You need something thicker
  • 7:00 - 7:01
    for the key travel
  • 7:01 - 7:03
and the keys, the keyboard itself,
  • 7:03 - 7:04
    will just naturally be bigger.
  • 7:04 - 7:06
So I've now connected this keyboard
  • 7:06 - 7:09
via USB to my Mac because I wanted to see
  • 7:09 - 7:11
what the joystick does by default.
  • 7:11 - 7:12
    And the joystick by default,
  • 7:12 - 7:14
    actually, does the music controls.
  • 7:14 - 7:15
    So you can change tracks
  • 7:15 - 7:17
    by going up and down
  • 7:17 - 7:19
and then you can click it to mute,
  • 7:19 - 7:22
and then you can also go
left and right to adjust the volume.
  • 7:22 - 7:23
    So this is quite funny.
  • 7:23 - 7:25
I'm hoping you guys can see this.
  • 7:25 - 7:27
    With the software,
  • 7:27 - 7:29
I was able to upload a picture
  • 7:29 - 7:31
to the screen on the keyboard.
  • 7:32 - 7:34
So you can have anything you want here.
  • 7:34 - 7:36
Maybe you have a picture of your cat
  • 7:36 - 7:38
or your dog or a loved one or whatever,
  • 7:38 - 7:39
you can have it on the screen,
  • 7:39 - 7:41
    which is pretty funny.
  • 7:41 - 7:43
    You can even upload
    your own sketches and stuff.
  • 7:43 - 7:45
So I just randomly just drew a line,
  • 7:45 - 7:47
and yeah, you can upload it.
  • 7:47 - 7:51
So you can really sort of put
whatever you want on the little screen
  • 7:51 - 7:53
    that's attached to the keyboard.
  • 7:53 - 7:56
Let's get into one of the keys.
  • 7:56 - 7:57
    Like so.
  • 7:57 - 8:01
We should be able to remove...
  • 8:03 - 8:04
    Yeah, nice and easy.
  • 8:04 - 8:07
The switch comes out super easy,
  • 8:07 - 8:08
    super clean,
  • 8:09 - 8:11
so you can change the switches out
  • 8:11 - 8:12
    if you want to.
  • 8:12 - 8:14
    You can have
whatever switches you like in this.
  • 8:14 - 8:16
And of course, you can change
    the keycaps as well.
  • 8:16 - 8:18
So that's pretty nice to see,
  • 8:18 - 8:20
a lot of customisation options there.
  • 8:20 - 8:21
    If you guys are interested
  • 8:21 - 8:22
    in either of these keyboards,
  • 8:22 - 8:24
I will leave a link to them
    down in description below.
