This keyboard has a screen - Epomaker RT80 and RT65

  • 0:00 - 0:01
So we're going to check out
  • 0:01 - 0:03
two keyboards here from API maker
  • 0:03 - 0:04
    who also sponsoring this video.
  • 0:04 - 0:05
They wanted me to check out
  • 0:05 - 0:06
    two of the keyboards
  • 0:06 - 0:09
    that are pretty unique.
  • 0:09 - 0:10
One of them has a mini
  • 0:10 - 0:11
    screen, a detachable screen,
  • 0:11 - 0:13
and it also has a joystick.
  • 0:13 - 0:15
And then the other one has another screen
  • 0:15 - 0:17
    like built into it,
  • 0:17 - 0:18
which is, well, like there's a lot
  • 0:18 - 0:19
    actually going on here.
  • 0:19 - 0:21
Anyway, let's actually look at the boxes.
  • 0:21 - 0:21
    Let's actually
  • 0:21 - 0:23
look at what we've got here.
  • 0:23 - 0:25
So this is the 65% layout.
  • 0:25 - 0:28
Art 65 has a detachable mini
  • 0:28 - 0:29
    display, mini TV,
  • 0:29 - 0:30
    portable lights, stuff like that.
  • 0:30 - 0:35
Let's get into this one first.
  • 0:35 - 0:36
    Okay. Manual.
  • 0:36 - 0:38
    We don't need a manual.
  • 0:38 - 0:39
    Accessories.
  • 0:39 - 0:40
    Yes, absolutely.
  • 0:40 - 0:42
    Okay, so we've got keys.
  • 0:42 - 0:43
    We have got the
  • 0:43 - 0:46
    display. Yo,
  • 0:47 - 0:50
    this is tiny
  • 0:54 - 0:55
    Usb-C as well.
  • 0:55 - 0:57
    That is tiny.
  • 0:57 - 0:58
    That's actually crazy how small
  • 0:58 - 0:59
    it is as well.
  • 0:59 - 1:01
    So we got it here.
  • 1:02 - 1:02
    Oh, wow.
  • 1:02 - 1:03
    We have got one hefty
  • 1:03 - 1:05
    USB cable here.
  • 1:05 - 1:07
    Say usb-a on one end,
  • 1:07 - 1:09
The usb-c on the other comes
  • 1:09 - 1:10
in a leather strap as well.
  • 1:10 - 1:13
    Let's get to the keyboard.
  • 1:13 - 1:15
If you're a mac user like me,
  • 1:15 - 1:16
    they do have the option
  • 1:16 - 1:18
    and command keys as well
  • 1:18 - 1:19
so you can replace them on the keyboard.
  • 1:19 - 1:22
So this is a 65% layout
  • 1:22 - 1:24
and this code is quite interesting.
  • 1:24 - 1:26
It's kind of like a big brownie
  • 1:26 - 1:28
    colourway,
  • 1:28 - 1:29
    not colourway that you see
  • 1:29 - 1:30
that often to be honest at all.
  • 1:30 - 1:32
    This sounds
  • 1:33 - 1:34
    what it sounds incredible.
  • 1:34 - 1:35
    This joystick here, though,
  • 1:35 - 1:37
    that is pretty cool.
  • 1:37 - 1:37
    It literally
  • 1:37 - 1:39
feels like a joystick that you get
  • 1:39 - 1:40
    on a proper controller.
  • 1:41 - 1:42
    I'm not
  • 1:42 - 1:43
sure what you would use it for, though.
  • 1:43 - 1:45
    I assume it's completely customisable,
  • 1:45 - 1:47
so you can do whatever you like with it.
  • 1:47 - 1:49
But I can imagine this on like a canvas.
  • 1:49 - 1:51
Imagine like you own Figma or Photoshop.
  • 1:51 - 1:52
Be able to move around the canvas
  • 1:52 - 1:54
    with the joystick.
  • 1:54 - 1:55
    That'd be pretty cool.
  • 1:55 - 1:57
Of course we can turn it on
  • 1:57 - 1:59
and it has a 3000 million power battery.
  • 1:59 - 2:01
We can see the IGP effects
  • 2:01 - 2:03
    there. Pretty insane.
  • 2:03 - 2:04
There's a lot going on here
  • 2:04 - 2:05
    and their south facing IGP
  • 2:05 - 2:07
as well as he can actually see it.
  • 2:07 - 2:09
    This is also pretty neat.
  • 2:09 - 2:09
    The IGP on that,
  • 2:09 - 2:11
I assume you can customise that.
  • 2:11 - 2:13
We also have the transmitter here
  • 2:13 - 2:15
    for connecting it wirelessly
  • 2:15 - 2:17
    to your PC
  • 2:17 - 2:19
if you don't want to use Bluetooth.
  • 2:19 - 2:20
    And of course
  • 2:20 - 2:24
the display goes in to here like say,
  • 2:25 - 2:26
    oh, there you go.
  • 2:26 - 2:27
    Can you guys see that,
  • 2:28 - 2:29
    that they
  • 2:29 - 2:30
    just washed right away.
  • 2:30 - 2:31
    So it looks like
  • 2:31 - 2:32
you can see your battery life.
  • 2:32 - 2:34
    You can see the date.
  • 2:34 - 2:35
    You can see
  • 2:35 - 2:37
    if I keep it up.
  • 2:37 - 2:38
    You can see
  • 2:38 - 2:39
    it's searching
  • 2:39 - 2:40
    for Bluetooth
  • 2:40 - 2:41
    connectivity.
  • 2:41 - 2:43
    That is pretty awesome.
  • 2:43 - 2:45
    That is actually sweet.
  • 2:45 - 2:46
    That's pretty smart.
  • 2:46 - 2:48
This USB cable is really nice.
  • 2:48 - 2:50
Has usb-a SBC on one end,
  • 2:50 - 2:53
    nice and thick and.
  • 2:53 - 2:53
    And yet
  • 2:53 - 2:56
    some orange accents as well.
  • 2:56 - 2:58
These are some really nice USB cables.
  • 2:58 - 2:59
    Very premium feeling
  • 2:59 - 3:00
I think the thickness of the cable.
  • 3:00 - 3:10
    Alina, is pretty awesome.
  • 3:12 - 3:13
    Let's move that aside.
  • 3:13 - 3:15
And now let's look at the 48.
  • 3:16 - 3:17
We have a display on here
  • 3:17 - 3:19
    as well, 75%
  • 3:19 - 3:21
    layout,
  • 3:21 - 3:22
    very similar to the 46,
  • 3:22 - 3:25
but of course, a 75% layout.
  • 3:25 - 3:26
    And this one is in
  • 3:26 - 3:28
my favourite colour white, which is black.
  • 3:28 - 3:30
Like it's just nice and simple.
  • 3:30 - 3:31
    Accessories
  • 3:31 - 3:32
should be fairly similar or nice.
  • 3:32 - 3:34
    I actually gave
  • 3:34 - 3:36
    a matching
  • 3:36 - 3:37
    USB cable with this one,
  • 3:37 - 3:39
    so you don't have
  • 3:39 - 3:40
    the same colour USB cable.
  • 3:40 - 3:41
You do have a matching one.
  • 3:41 - 3:43
    This is a grey,
  • 3:43 - 3:45
which I like and on this side.
  • 3:45 - 3:46
    Oh, interesting.
  • 3:46 - 3:48
So they've given actually a bunch
  • 3:48 - 3:49
    of other keys here,
  • 3:50 - 3:51
    keycaps here.
  • 3:52 - 3:52
    So if you
  • 3:52 - 3:54
have like the enter key in three
  • 3:54 - 3:56
    different colours pretty much.
  • 3:56 - 3:57
    Oh there's white as well.
  • 3:57 - 3:58
    Yes. Green.
  • 3:58 - 3:59
    White. Blue and red.
  • 3:59 - 4:02
Oh I do like the look of this already.
  • 4:03 - 4:05
This is probably already my favourite
  • 4:05 - 4:07
    out of the two
  • 4:07 - 4:08
    for a few reasons.
  • 4:08 - 4:11
I mean, the main thing that is black here,
  • 4:11 - 4:13
I really do like the look of this a lot.
  • 4:13 - 4:15
This is a really nice looking keyboard.
  • 4:15 - 4:16
    Nice and minimal.
  • 4:16 - 4:17
    Nice and clean.
  • 4:17 - 4:19
    There's a screen here.
  • 4:19 - 4:21
    Let's peel that off.
  • 4:21 - 4:22
    Right.
  • 4:22 - 4:24
So but what I also like
  • 4:24 - 4:26
    is that there's media controls.
  • 4:26 - 4:27
    So when I'm
  • 4:27 - 4:29
    either working or gaming,
  • 4:29 - 4:30
    I listen to music
  • 4:30 - 4:31
    all the time,
  • 4:31 - 4:32
    literally constantly being able
  • 4:32 - 4:34
    to have dedicated music controls
  • 4:34 - 4:35
    to control my music.
  • 4:35 - 4:37
That is a really nice feature to have.
  • 4:37 - 4:38
    Oh, wow. Okay.
  • 4:38 - 4:40
The IGB on this I think looks incredible.
  • 4:41 - 4:42
    Can actually see it
  • 4:42 - 4:43
    much better on this
  • 4:43 - 4:45
    on this keyboard.
  • 4:45 - 4:46
    The screen as well.
  • 4:46 - 4:48
    It's pretty awesome.
  • 4:49 - 4:52
    So we also have the
  • 4:52 - 4:53
    two point
  • 4:53 - 4:55
    is a 2.4 gigahertz
  • 4:55 - 4:56
    transmitter here as well.
  • 4:56 - 4:57
If I can get it out there.
  • 4:57 - 4:58
    You got it.
  • 4:58 - 5:00
    Is 2.4 on the table,
  • 5:00 - 5:01
    four gigahertz transmitter as well
  • 5:01 - 5:02
    here.
  • 5:03 - 5:03
    It's actually nice
  • 5:03 - 5:05
    that we have it here
  • 5:05 - 5:06
so that you don't lose it
  • 5:06 - 5:08
because the amount of times of lost
  • 5:08 - 5:10
    dongles and transmitters and stuff,
  • 5:10 - 5:11
because it's like in the box
  • 5:11 - 5:13
or something, it's not actually attached
  • 5:13 - 5:14
to the keyboard in some way.
  • 5:14 - 5:15
    Like it's just quite annoying.
  • 5:15 - 5:17
    So with the 18,
  • 5:17 - 5:19
    we have a 75% layout,
  • 5:19 - 5:21
which is definitely my preferred layout.
  • 5:21 - 5:22
I like having the functional off
  • 5:22 - 5:24
    keys 65%.
  • 5:24 - 5:25
    I know for some people,
  • 5:25 - 5:26
    like it's great is amazing,
  • 5:26 - 5:29
but I always miss the functional off keys.
  • 5:29 - 5:31
I just like having the dedicated wah
  • 5:31 - 5:32
    function keys
  • 5:32 - 5:34
    for my typing experience.
  • 5:34 - 5:36
    My typing preference is it
  • 5:36 - 5:37
just makes more sense for me.
  • 5:37 - 5:40
This also has a 5000 mah battery.
  • 5:40 - 5:42
    It's a much bigger battery
  • 5:42 - 5:43
    and so it should last
  • 5:43 - 5:45
for quite a bit longer too.
  • 5:45 - 5:47
On the bottom, there are different levels
  • 5:47 - 5:48
that you can stand it up at,
  • 5:48 - 5:50
which is nice because I know
  • 5:50 - 5:51
    for some people
  • 5:51 - 5:52
    that can be a
  • 5:52 - 5:54
    big thing, like having
  • 5:55 - 5:56
    the ability to
  • 5:56 - 5:57
    angle the keyboard up
  • 5:57 - 5:58
    can make a big difference.
  • 5:58 - 6:00
Okay, so I've connected the keyboard
  • 6:00 - 6:02
    to my Mac, the Usb-C,
  • 6:02 - 6:03
and we can see the screen.
  • 6:03 - 6:05
This is in sort of its default state,
  • 6:05 - 6:06
but we can swipe on it
  • 6:06 - 6:08
and we can get some functions
  • 6:08 - 6:09
    to control our Mac.
  • 6:09 - 6:11
And I'll see you have four functions here
  • 6:11 - 6:13
    for basically touch screen
  • 6:13 - 6:14
    panels
  • 6:14 - 6:15
    and yeah,
  • 6:15 - 6:16
you can change what you have on them
  • 6:16 - 6:18
    as well as customisable
  • 6:18 - 6:20
or so these are just the default options.
  • 6:20 - 6:21
    But that's pretty awesome
  • 6:21 - 6:23
    because you could basically pull
  • 6:23 - 6:24
    I think pretty much
  • 6:24 - 6:27
    whatever you like in here.
  • 6:31 - 6:32
    What blows my mind
  • 6:32 - 6:33
    about both of these keyboards
  • 6:33 - 6:34
    is the price.
  • 6:34 - 6:37
They're less than $100 each of them.
  • 6:37 - 6:38
I think this one last time I looked
  • 6:38 - 6:40
    was less than $70,
  • 6:40 - 6:41
which is just crazy good value
  • 6:41 - 6:42
    for a keyboard like this
  • 6:42 - 6:44
    with all of this functionality.
  • 6:44 - 6:45
So I also have an Apple magic
  • 6:45 - 6:46
    keyboard here
  • 6:46 - 6:47
and you can see the difference.
  • 6:47 - 6:48
Like there's a massive difference here.
  • 6:48 - 6:50
Here you have a mechanical keyboard
  • 6:50 - 6:50
    and here you have
  • 6:50 - 6:52
    a saw Chiclet style keyboard.
  • 6:52 - 6:53
We can see the magic keyboard
  • 6:53 - 6:54
    is thin and smaller,
  • 6:54 - 6:56
    but if you prefer
  • 6:56 - 6:58
    the mechanical typing experience,
  • 6:58 - 6:59
of course you need something bigger.
  • 6:59 - 7:00
    You need something thicker
  • 7:00 - 7:01
    for the key travel
  • 7:01 - 7:03
and the keys, the keyboard itself,
  • 7:03 - 7:04
    which isn't actually bigger.
  • 7:04 - 7:06
So I've now connected this keyboard
  • 7:06 - 7:08
    via usb-c to my Mac
  • 7:08 - 7:09
    because I wanted to see
  • 7:09 - 7:11
what the joystick does by default.
  • 7:11 - 7:12
    And the joystick by default
  • 7:12 - 7:13
    actually
  • 7:13 - 7:14
    does the music controls.
  • 7:14 - 7:15
    So you can change tracks
  • 7:15 - 7:17
    by going up and down
  • 7:17 - 7:19
and then you can click it to mute,
  • 7:19 - 7:20
and then you can also go left
  • 7:20 - 7:22
and right to adjust the volume.
  • 7:22 - 7:23
    So this is quite funny.
  • 7:23 - 7:24
    I'm hoping you guys
  • 7:24 - 7:26
    can see this
  • 7:26 - 7:27
    with the software.
  • 7:27 - 7:29
    I wasn't able to upload a picture
  • 7:29 - 7:31
to the screen on the keyboard
  • 7:32 - 7:33
    so you can have
  • 7:33 - 7:34
anything you want to have ever.
  • 7:34 - 7:36
You have a picture of your cat
  • 7:36 - 7:38
or your dog or a loved one or whatever.
  • 7:38 - 7:39
You can have it on the screen,
  • 7:39 - 7:41
    which is pretty funny.
  • 7:41 - 7:41
    You can even upload
  • 7:41 - 7:43
    your own sketches and stuff.
  • 7:43 - 7:45
So I just randomly just drew a line
  • 7:45 - 7:47
and yeah, you can upload it
  • 7:47 - 7:49
so you can really sort of put
  • 7:49 - 7:51
whatever you want on the little screen
  • 7:51 - 7:53
    that's attached to the keyboard.
  • 7:53 - 7:56
Let's get into one of the keys.
  • 7:56 - 7:59
Like, say we should be able to
  • 8:00 - 8:03
    remove.
  • 8:03 - 8:04
    Yeah, nice and easy.
  • 8:04 - 8:07
The switch comes out super easy,
  • 8:07 - 8:08
    super clean,
  • 8:08 - 8:11
and so you can change the switches out
  • 8:11 - 8:12
    if you want to.
  • 8:12 - 8:12
    You can have
  • 8:12 - 8:14
whatever switches you like in this
  • 8:14 - 8:15
and of course you can change
  • 8:15 - 8:16
    the keycaps as well.
  • 8:16 - 8:18
So that's pretty nice to see
  • 8:18 - 8:20
a lot of customisation options there.
  • 8:20 - 8:21
    If you guys are interested
  • 8:21 - 8:22
    in either of these keyboards,
  • 8:22 - 8:23
I'll leave a link to them
  • 8:23 - 8:24
    down in description below.
  • 8:24 - 8:26
    Hopefully you guys enjoyed it.
