CMF Phone 2 Pro by Nothing.
-
After Nothing released
its Nothing (3a) series,
-
it immediately released
the budget line
-
for the budget consumers.
-
Now I've seen some improvement
on the Phone 2 Pro.
-
It also became thinner.
-
And it's also being powered
by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro.
-
And it has an added
ultra wide lens
-
and telephoto lens.
-
But it has also done
something backwards as well.
-
Let's find out right
after this quick intro.
-
(introduction music)
-
The CMF Phone 2 Pro
that has 8GB/128GB of storage
-
is priced at Php16,490.
-
And its 8GB/256GB is priced
at Php18,490.
-
We can buy it
from Digital Walker,
-
and it's also available
on Open Source
-
by Beyond the Box.
-
Check it out on the link
that I'll post
-
on the description box below.
-
When it comes to pricing,
it has seen some increase.
-
Php1,000 increase
from the Php15,490
-
to Php16,490.
-
But it's quite justifiable.
-
One of the first things
that's improved is one
-
of its cameras.
-
It has three camera sensors
this time around
-
compared to only one
on the CMF Phone 1.
-
It now has a telephoto lens
and ultra wide lens.
-
Secondly, it became thinner
from 8.2mm to 7.8mm.
-
Except, of course,
one thing that went backwards
-
is that you can't remove
this back case anymore.
-
I tried unscrewing
the screws here
-
but it can't be removed.
-
In short, it's stuck here.
-
Most likely you need
some prying tools
-
just to remove this one.
-
And it has some accessories
that we don't have right now.
-
You'll attach those here
just to be able to put
-
the extra camera lenses here.
-
You can still carry over
your lanyards
-
and wallet on the back
which is MagSafe.
-
Other than that, I see this phone
as a downgrade
-
because it's not modular.
-
Like, I used to know
CMF phones as modular phones.
-
They kind of took away half
of the fun on this phone.
-
Being able to swap cases here...
-
Being able to swap cases,
mix and match.
-
Even the button
on this bottom part,
-
you can change the color.
-
That's what you'll miss
on the CMF Phone 2 Pro.
-
I'm pretty sure that 128GB
is kind of lacking here
-
but this one is hybrid.
-
Either you use one nano SIM
plus microSD
-
or two nano SIM altogether
at the same time.
-
It's all up to you.
-
And best of all,
you can expand up to 2TB.
-
Another improvement here,
this one is IP54
-
dust and water resistant.
-
On the CMF Phone 1,
it didn't have an IP rating,
-
but it improved it here this time,
making it splash resistant
-
this time around.
-
And another good thing is that
this is being protected
-
by the Panda Glass protection.
-
And the essential button
on the side when you press it,
-
it will take a screenshot.
-
And you can basically record
your voice message
-
inside this screenshot
which is, I think, very useful.
-
Especially when you're on the go
and you can't type,
-
this is a very useful function.
-
One thing I still like here
is that it has NothingOS 3.2
-
which is definitely very smooth.
-
It has one of the best
vanilla Android feel
-
on an Android device.
-
One of the improvements
is also its processor.
-
Though it's just
a slight improvement,
-
Dimensity 7300 Pro compared
to the CMF Phone before
-
which was Dimensity 7300.
-
It's roughly 10-11% improvement
over its predecessor.
-
It was able to score me
near 700,000 points
-
on AnTuTu Benchmark.
-
This are the breakdown scores
that I got.
-
Its best loop score is 852
and 99% stability
-
on Wild Life Extreme.
-
This is the CPU benchmarking
that I got on Geekbench
-
and the GPU benchmarking.
-
Its thermals are looking
quite okay
-
and it throttled to 81%
of its best performance.
-
When it comes to battery,
there's not much improvement here.
-
Or should I say
there's no improvement here.
-
This one still comes together
with a 5,000mAh of battery
-
and it supports
up to 33W of fast charging.
-
One of the good things here
is that the battery
-
of this phone is very long-lasting.
-
And I would probably say
that 7300 Pro is efficient.
-
Why? Because it was able
to last me around 1 1/2 days
-
just to charge this phone
back up again.
-
And just using it normally
without heavy gaming
-
and heavy video taking,
it can last almost 1 1/2 days.
-
And if you still don't believe me,
I was able to score
-
19 hours of screen-on time
on PCMark battery stress test.
-
My settings here
is 50% brightness
-
and 60Hz of screen refresh rate.
-
When it comes to its display,
Nothing almost
-
just maintained it.
-
Having a 6.77-inch
AMOLED display
-
with 120Hz of screen refresh rate,
-
it also has 3,000 nits
peak brightness,
-
having a Panda Glass protection,
-
and its screen-to-body ratio
is 87%.
-
One of the things you'll notice
on it is that its bezels
-
are not that thin
but what's good here
-
is that it's very symmetrical
all throughout the four sides
-
of the phone.
-
If you're browsing
through socials here,
-
you won't have any problems
-
because its display is okay.
-
Nothing didn't use
a cheap display here
-
and it was able to give me
some really nice experience
-
while browsing
on my favorite socials
-
like Facebook, TikTok,
and of course, Twitter.
-
The swiping experience
is definitely good
-
as long as your
internet connection is good.
-
When you're watching videos here,
expect to give you
-
a good immersive experience
because its display is great,
-
its colors are punchy,
and it's nothing short
-
of a good display.
-
Now since the loudspeaker
of this one is dual
-
and it comes from here
and here,
-
let's listen to its sound.
-
(Gnarly by KATSEYE)
-
So you've just heard
the latest single of KATSEYE
-
which is Gnarly.
-
Well, I would say
its sound is just okay.
-
It's just average,
nothing really awesome
-
with its sound,
and don't expect it
-
to be that loud
if you're listening to Spotify.
-
Now, I did play three games on it.
-
I was able to play Delta Force,
Genshin Impact,
-
and Call of Duty Mobile.
-
On Delta Force, I put it
to medium graphic settings.
-
I didn't max it out.
-
And the gameplay was okay.
-
Don't expect too much
if you max it out,
-
you'll feel that there are
some heavy frame drops
-
because it's just 7300 Pro,
-
it's not for heavy gaming.
-
One of the good things here
is that when you put it
-
to medium graphic settings,
minor frame drops,
-
and the touch response
was quite good.
-
One complaint I have
is that its sound is not that loud
-
but it is easily compensated
if you have a good TWS
-
by your side.
-
The gameplay was just okay
and it reached 37°C
-
after 30 minutes of gameplay.
-
On Genshin Impact,
I also put it to medium
-
graphic settings with 60 FPS.
-
There are times that I noticed
that it kind of struggled
-
but overall, it was able
to get me going.
-
Overall, it was able
to get me going.
-
When you're in heavy battles,
that's where you'll feel
-
the slight frame drops
where you'll kind of teleport.
-
It feels like your orientation
has changed.
-
Though, its screen is responsive.
-
The sound is just okay, so-so,
not the best.
-
And it's not that hot at 41°C
after 30 minutes of gameplay.
-
On Call of Duty Mobile,
the gameplay was okay,
-
you won't have any problems.
-
We put it to ultra frame rate
and minimum graphic settings.
-
I would say it's okay,
the experience was smooth,
-
you won't have any problems
on its gameplay.
-
I was happy
with the gameplay with it,
-
I didn't feel any frame drops.
-
Its touch response
was quite good.
-
And I was using TWS
while I was playing
-
to make the experience
immersive here.
-
And after 30 minutes
of gameplay, 37°C.
-
Now, let's talk about probably
its highlight on the phone,
-
the cameras.
-
And by far, I would tell you
its camera sensors
-
have improved here.
-
Starting off with a 50MP
main camera sensor,
-
also with a 50MP telephoto lens,
and as well as it has
-
an 8MP ultra wide lens
which can let you shoot
-
up to 120° FoV.
-
This one can let you capture
up to 4K and 30 FPS.
-
Its front-facing camera
is a 16MP which can shoot you
-
up to 1080p and 60 FPS.
-
By far, I've seen
some slight improvements
-
on the camera
of the CMF Phone 2 Pro.
-
And it starts off with some
of these simple shots that we got.
-
You'll notice that
when I captured this
-
on the CMF Phone 1,
it's kind of whitish,
-
but on this one,
it looks more natural.
-
The 50MP camera sensor
has improved on the main camera.
-
Taking a quick snap here
on this rose bud, it's just fast.
-
There's no problem focusing here.
-
The separation
between the subject
-
and the background was good.
-
Even these simple flower shots
like this one,
-
it looks pretty nice and solid.
-
The color on this one
is also good.
-
And one thing I liked
is its green is not that saturated.
-
Taking a quick snap here
on this shot,
-
I would say that this area
is quite nice.
-
And even if it's gloomy a bit here,
it was still able
-
to give me a clear shot
on the sky,
-
though this figure kind
of dimmed out.
-
When it comes
to indoor photography,
-
taking some figurine shot
this time around,
-
you'll get some
really nice snaps on it.
-
Taking all of these shots
of the action figures,
-
collectible figures,
it's really beautiful.
-
The images I got are very sharp.
-
I was also quite surprised
with its output.
-
It looks quite good.
-
It's like a little bit better
than the Phone 1.
-
This is probably one
of my favorite shots.
-
This shot of Minato from Naruto
looks great.
-
And inside a coffee shop,
you'll also get some nice snaps.
-
If you'll focus on the subject,
its separation
-
from the background is good.
-
My snaps
of product photography
-
were also great.
-
Even bean shots that we got
when you zoom it in,
-
it's quite okay.
-
It's not super clear
but it's quite decent.
-
When we played
with its ultra wide shot,
-
this is how it looks like.
-
1x.
-
And this is a 2x zoom shot.
-
It's fine.
-
Zooming up to 2x,
you'll still be able to read
-
everything written here.
-
Let's talk about selfies.
-
On outdoors, honestly,
it kind of improved a bit.
-
Being able to capture details
on my face,
-
and even the sweat,
you can see it on my eyebrows,
-
it's still very clear and intact
when you zoom it in.
-
And even this shot,
you'll see all the craters
-
on my face, imperfections.
-
As well as this shot,
it looks pretty nice and solid
-
on outdoors.
-
When you go indoors,
you'll notice it'll become softer
-
compared to outdoors.
-
But if you can get
some good lighting like this one,
-
you can also get nice shots
from this phone.
-
Taking a look at this one,
it's better compared to lowlight.
-
This one is also quite decent
as well.
-
Now using the front-facing camera
to take a vlog
-
using just my bare hand,
honestly, it's not that jittery.
-
And I'm surprised
that it looks okay.
-
Not so bad for vlogging.
-
And using its rear camera,
this one is more stable,
-
its resolution is better.
-
And you'll be able to get
some really nice vlogs
-
if you're trying to use this phone
as your main daily driver
-
for your vlogging needs.
-
Now honestly, what can I say
about this phone?
-
This is definitely
an easy recommend for me
-
over the phones
like the vivo V50 Lite
-
and also over
the TECNO Camon 40 Pro.
-
This is definitely the better choice,
the UI is cleaner,
-
better experience,
-
and the camera
has definitely improved.
-
Probably if you're coming
from the CMF Phone 1,
-
you'll be kind of disappointed
because it's not modular.
-
Well, technically less modular
than it used to be.
-
But what's good with it
is it preserved
-
the unique orange color here.
-
