A path to peace! 2025

  • 0:01 - 0:04
    Margaret Thatcher had it right.
    (1987)
  • 0:04 - 0:09
    There is no society anymore.
  • 0:09 - 0:11
    What there is...
  • 0:11 - 0:14
    is a transnational security elite...
  • 0:14 - 0:18
that is busy carving up the world...
  • 0:18 - 0:20
    using your tax money.
  • 0:22 - 0:23
    We must guard against...
  • 0:23 - 0:29
    the acquisition of unwarrented influence
    by the military-industrial complex (MIC).
  • 0:29 - 0:34
The potential for the desastrous rise
    of misplaced power exists.
  • 0:34 - 0:35
    And will persist.
  • 0:36 - 0:39
We must never let the weight
    of this combination endanger...
  • 0:39 - 0:41
    our liberties or democratic processes.
  • 0:42 - 0:45
    In democracies or...
  • 0:45 - 0:48
    the pseudo-democracies
    that we're evolving into...
  • 0:50 - 0:53
wars are a result of lies.
  • 0:56 - 1:00
The very word "secrecy" is repugnant
in a free and open society.
  • 1:01 - 1:03
    My uncle's commitment to peace...
  • 1:03 - 1:08
bore fruit in the limited test ban treaty
    of august 1963.
  • 1:08 - 1:14
    But his assassination that november
turned the nation down another path.
  • 1:14 - 1:18
    His successors have launched
    one war after another.
  • 1:18 - 1:24
I.e. the goal is to have an endless war,
    not a succesful war.
  • 1:24 - 1:26
    Waging endless wars abroad.
  • 1:26 - 1:30
Very soon, within the next few years
    it will become...
  • 1:30 - 1:34
the "normal" for there to be
a constant war in the West.
  • 1:34 - 1:39
People will reach maturity and adulthood
    under the understanding...
  • 1:39 - 1:41
that there is always a war.
  • 1:41 - 1:43
War will become the "new normal".
  • 1:44 - 1:50
For we are opposed around the world
by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy.
  • 1:50 - 1:52
    To combat that elite...
  • 1:52 - 1:54
    we must not petition...
  • 1:56 - 1:58
    we must take it over.
  • 2:01 - 2:06
    I'm speaking here today
to take a radically different path...
  • 2:06 - 2:07
    a path towards peace.
  • 2:07 - 2:11
    We have been immersed
    in a foreign policy discourse...
  • 2:11 - 2:16
that is all about adversaries and threats
and allies and enemies and domination.
  • 2:17 - 2:21
We've become addicted to comic-book [Hollywood]
    good versus evil narratives.
  • 2:21 - 2:23
    Everything becomes a war.
  • 2:23 - 2:25
The war on drugs, the war on terror...
  • 2:26 - 2:29
    war on cancer,
    war on climate change.
  • 2:29 - 2:32
    That is... war by media.
  • 2:33 - 2:38
This way of thinking predisposes us
    to wage endless wars abroad.
  • 2:38 - 2:41
    Wars and coups and bombs...
  • 2:41 - 2:44
    and drones
    and regime change operations.
  • 2:44 - 2:47
    Who are the war criminals?
  • 2:48 - 2:51
    It is not just leaders,
    it is not just soldiers...
  • 2:52 - 2:53
    It is journalists.
  • 2:53 - 2:57
    Journalists are war criminals.
  • 2:58 - 3:02
    THIS
    is extremely dangerous to Democracy.
  • 3:02 - 3:07
The sharing of biased and false news
has become all too common on social media.
  • 3:07 - 3:10
    More alarming some media outlets
    publish these same fake stories...
  • 3:10 - 3:12
    without checking facts first.
  • 3:12 - 3:17
iThe sharing of biased and false news
has become all too common on social media.
  • 3:17 - 3:23
    More alarming some media
    publish these same fake stories...
  • 3:23 - 3:25
    without checking facts first.
  • 3:25 - 3:27
    Unfortunately some of these media...
  • 3:27 - 3:31
    use these platforms to push
their own personal bias and agenda.
  • 3:31 - 3:33
to control exactlyl what people think.
  • 3:33 - 3:36
    THIS [TV]
is extremely dangerous to our Democracy.
  • 3:38 - 3:44
When we hold others in the belief
    that they're implacable enemies...
  • 3:44 - 3:48
    they tend to mold themselves
accordingly to our view of them.
  • 3:49 - 3:53
    It's a self-fulfilling prophecy
    or prediction...
  • 3:53 - 3:59
that launches all players into a cycle
of suspicion that my uncle warned against.
  • 4:00 - 4:04
Inhabiting the role of an enemy
    we empower hardliners...
  • 4:04 - 4:07
    in places
like Russia, China, Cuba and Iran.
  • 4:07 - 4:10
    We invite them
    into the drama of conflict...
  • 4:10 - 4:13
    the drama
    of provocation and counter-provocation,
  • 4:13 - 4:14
    of weapon and counter-weapon.
  • 4:17 - 4:22
We've then gone off on this path
    of the military-industrial complex (MIC)...
  • 4:22 - 4:26
    which president Eisenhower warned about
in the best speech that he ever gave...
  • 4:26 - 4:30
and one of the most important in history,
    where he warned America:
  • 4:31 - 4:35
that if we did not take
    great pains to avoid it...
  • 4:35 - 4:39
    the emerging military-industrial complex
    would devour our democracy.
  • 4:39 - 4:40
    My uncle knew that.
  • 4:40 - 4:45
He spent three years fighting against
the rise of the military-industrial complex.
  • 4:45 - 4:49
After his death, we went down that path
    that Eisenhower predicted.
  • 4:49 - 4:53
And that's where we are today
and it's time now to reverse that.
  • 4:53 - 4:54
    It's time.
  • 4:58 - 5:01
And there is very grave danger...
  • 5:01 - 5:04
    that an announced need
    for increased security...
  • 5:05 - 5:09
will be seized upon by those
    anxious to expand its meaning...
  • 5:09 - 5:13
to the very limits of official
    censorship and concealment.
  • 5:13 - 5:16
    Wikileaks is a non-state
    hostil intelligence service.
  • 5:16 - 5:17
    Julian Assange.
  • 5:17 - 5:20
    - a high-tech terrorist
    - a traitor, a treasonist
  • 5:20 - 5:23
He has to answer for what he has done.
  • 5:23 - 5:26
Assange face up to a 175 years
    in prison...
  • 5:26 - 5:30
    for publishing classified documents
exposing US war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan.
  • 5:31 - 5:34
    Journalists are war criminals.
  • 5:34 - 5:38
I am not asking your newspapers
    to support an administration...
  • 5:39 - 5:43
but I am asking your help
    in the tremendous task...
  • 5:43 - 5:46
    of informing and alerting
    the american people.
  • 5:46 - 5:48
    For I have complete confidence...
  • 5:53 - 5:55
    in the response and dedication
    of our citizens...
  • 5:55 - 5:57
    whenever they are fully informed.
  • 5:57 - 6:01
And that is why our press
was protected by the First Amendment,
  • 6:01 - 6:06
    the only business in America
    specifically protected by the Constitution.
  • 6:06 - 6:11
    He has been detained
since the 7th of December 2010...
  • 6:11 - 6:13
    in one form or another.
  • 6:13 - 6:15
    Julian Assange is a hero!
  • 6:15 - 6:19
    Wikileaks has performed
    this extraordinairy public service.
  • 6:19 - 6:23
    This is an attempt
not to break him, but to kill him.
  • 6:23 - 6:25
    It's slow murder.
  • 6:25 - 6:30
You al know that Julian Assange
    is a heroic whistleblower.
  • 6:30 - 6:32
    He stood up for democracy.
  • 6:32 - 6:34
He stood against he surveillance state.
  • 6:34 - 6:36
    He stood against government corruption.
  • 6:36 - 6:39
He's battled for all of our freedoms.
  • 6:39 - 6:42
And he made the tremendous sacrifice...
  • 6:42 - 6:45
    where he now is jailed
    and faces life imprisonment...
  • 6:45 - 6:48
and the extradition to the United States.
  • 6:48 - 6:49
    Julian Assange is dying...
  • 6:49 - 6:51
    for your right to know...
  • 6:51 - 6:54
    what your government is doing
on your behalf, behind your back.
  • 6:54 - 6:58
The urgency to pardon him cannot wait.
  • 6:58 - 7:01
It can't wait till I become president.
  • 7:01 - 7:05
We need to get it done now.
    Please sign the petition...
  • 7:05 - 7:10
    urging president Biden
    to immediately pardon Julian Assange.
  • 7:10 - 7:12
    Thank you all very much.
  • 7:13 - 7:14
