CHUNKY CROCHET JUMPER TUTORIAL (Beginner friendly!!)

  • 0:00 - 0:02
    Hello everybody! Today, I'm going
  • 0:02 - 0:05
to be showing you how to make this
  • 0:05 - 0:06
    chunkiest,
  • 0:06 - 0:08
    most amazing, sweater
  • 0:08 - 0:09
    ever.
  • 0:09 - 0:11
    This thing is literally
  • 0:11 - 0:13
    my comfort item
  • 0:13 - 0:16
in my closet now and I love it so much.
  • 0:16 - 0:18
I posted a TikTok about it recently, and
  • 0:18 - 0:21
I had a few people asking for tutorials,
  • 0:21 - 0:22
    so I thought that that's what I
  • 0:22 - 0:23
    would do today.
  • 0:23 - 0:25
I will show you how to make this
  • 0:25 - 0:26
    jumper.
  • 0:26 - 0:28
I originally got inspired to make this
  • 0:28 - 0:30
    by this video I saw
  • 0:30 - 0:31
    on TikTok,
  • 0:31 - 0:33
of this girl wearing the most amazing,
  • 0:33 - 0:36
    mohair, hand-knitted jumper
  • 0:36 - 0:37
    and I was like,
  • 0:37 - 0:39
    "I need to recreate this."
  • 0:39 - 0:41
I wanted to do it my way which
  • 0:41 - 0:43
is just like crochet, of course
  • 0:44 - 0:46
and I wanted to use like a sort of
  • 0:46 - 0:46
    thicker yarn
  • 0:46 - 0:48
even though I love the mohair
  • 0:48 - 0:49
but I couldn't find anything similar.
  • 0:49 - 0:51
    So I went with this
  • 0:51 - 0:52
    really chunky,
  • 0:52 - 0:55
    it's polyester and acrylic yarn
  • 0:55 - 0:58
but super chunky and I love it
  • 0:58 - 0:59
so I had to recreate it.
  • 0:59 - 1:02
    I freehanded this jumper.
  • 1:02 - 1:02
    I didn't follow any
  • 1:02 - 1:04
    patterns or tutorials or anything
  • 1:04 - 1:06
to make this. Thought I would show you
  • 1:06 - 1:08
how to do it. Hopefully it helps.
  • 1:08 - 1:09
I'm gonna try and do it as
  • 1:09 - 1:11
    beginner-friendly as possible and
  • 1:11 - 1:12
    hopefully it helps you guys.
  • 1:12 - 1:14
It's not actually that hard to make
  • 1:14 - 1:15
    and it actually doesn't
  • 1:15 - 1:16
    take too long either
  • 1:16 - 1:18
    because it's really chunky yarn.
  • 1:18 - 1:20
So, I'm gonna be using my 12 milimeter
  • 1:20 - 1:23
hook and I hope you enjoy this tutorial
  • 1:23 - 1:24
and I really hope it helps some of you
  • 1:24 - 1:27
guys out. So yeah. Let's get into it!
  • 1:27 - 1:30
The first yarn I'm using is this blue yarn
  • 1:30 - 1:32
    from Sustainable
  • 1:33 - 1:34
    Stitching,
  • 1:34 - 1:36
which is a lion brand yarns.
  • 1:36 - 1:39
    It's a re-spun, 100% recycled polyester.
  • 1:40 - 1:42
This is what we are gonna be using.
  • 1:42 - 1:43
    It says that
  • 1:43 - 1:44
    you need a
  • 1:44 - 1:46
    9 millimeter hook but
  • 1:46 - 1:47
I'm going to be using a
  • 1:47 - 1:48
    12 millimeter hook today.
  • 1:48 - 1:49
    This is the Monkey
  • 1:49 - 1:53
    100% acrylic, Moda Vera yarn.
  • 1:53 - 1:55
I got it on clearance, thankfully.
  • 1:55 - 1:58
This also needs a 9 millimeter
  • 1:58 - 1:59
hook, but I'm going to be using
  • 1:59 - 2:01
    my 12 millimeter hook.
  • 2:01 - 2:02
    Ok so first up
  • 2:02 - 2:04
we're gonna be making the neckline.
  • 2:04 - 2:07
    So grab your blue yarn,
  • 2:07 - 2:08
    or whatever color yarn
  • 2:08 - 2:10
    you're working with,
  • 2:10 - 2:11
    your crochet hook,
  • 2:11 - 2:13
I'm using my 12 millimeter one,
  • 2:13 - 2:15
and then make a slip knot
  • 2:15 - 2:21
    (upbeat, techno music playing)
  • 2:21 - 2:23
like so. And then you're going to
  • 2:23 - 2:25
    chain however many it takes
  • 2:25 - 2:26
    to fit around your neck
  • 2:26 - 2:28
to the length that you want it.
  • 2:28 - 2:29
    So I'm gonna be chaining
  • 2:29 - 2:30
    52. So,
  • 2:32 - 2:33
    (quietly counting)
  • 2:33 - 2:33
    one
  • 2:35 - 2:36
    two
  • 2:36 - 2:54
    (soft, upbeat music playing)
  • 2:54 - 2:55
    Alrighty,
  • 2:55 - 2:56
    so once you got your
  • 2:56 - 2:57
    52 chains,
  • 2:57 - 2:59
    or however many you need,
  • 2:59 - 3:01
    make sure it's all
  • 3:01 - 3:03
    flat and even,
  • 3:04 - 3:06
and then you can join it
  • 3:06 - 3:09
    to the first stitch
  • 3:10 - 3:11
    with a slip stitch. So
  • 3:11 - 3:13
    yarn it over
  • 3:13 - 3:15
    and pull it through both.
  • 3:15 - 3:17
And that is your first chain done there!
