-
So one thing I just want to make--
-
be very clear about in my class and, frankly,
-
in all PCC classes, is that, you know,
-
you guys are going to be completing
-
weekly online discussions this week;
-
you have two I'll talk about that in a second.
-
You are expected to be professional and kind, right?
-
That is the standard.
-
And if there are issues that you need to discuss,
-
then you need to talk about them with me.
-
But we're all adults, and I will just tell you that,I mean,
-
like, 1% of the time I've had to deal with something.
-
So, welcome.
-
I hope you enjoy the rich online community,
-
and get to know your colleagues and your classmates,
-
and enjoy everything this class is offering you.
-
So a key thing about the course schedule--
-
I'm going to jump over and show you the PDF
-
that you can download from the course calendar,
-
which is in the Course Information folder--
-
I'll show that to you in a second.
-
I think all of you are very familiar for doing this
-
fully asynchronous online course.
-
You're familiar with D2L.
-
This course runs on a Monday to Monday schedule,
-
so it means you've got that extra Monday
-
to get some assignments in,
-
get your three discussion posts in.
-
We aren't starting this week with an assignment.
-
And, in my class, you have two weeks
-
to complete every single assignment.
-
Just so you know, there are four, four main assignments
-
in this course.
-
We do have concept quizzes every week;
-
this week you have two quizzes.
-
You will see that there are two activities
-
you're doing this week to kick things off
-
that are due by Friday, the 10th.
-
That is the student introduction discussion,
-
so you're going to introduce yourself.
-
You're going to choose one of the seven entrepreneurial mindsets
-
after you watch the short videos,
-
and that mindset, you're going to focus on all term.
-
This is for you.
-
This is the you part of this class,.
-
You're going to do a little quiz,
-
test you on the syllabus,
-
and then you're going to open Module One,
-
and you're going to review Module One, Lesson in Practice.
-
and you're going to read Chapter One,
-
There's some videos and a couple articles in there
-
for you to read, and then you participate in our topical discussion,
-
which is the second discussion for this week,
-
and your first initial post is due Saturday.
-
And then you have three responses, as well,
-
in this discussion that are due by next Monday.
-
And then your Module One quizzes.
-
The module quizzes are always focusing on your--
-
your textbook reading, which this week is Chapter One.
-
So, if you haven't noticed by now,
-
since I'm sort of scanning over this,
-
your textbook is free.
-
So we're using an Open Stacks textbook.
-
I did not create this class around the textbook.
-
I curated this course, and then I added a textbook to add value,
-
to add some concepts and explanations
-
and descriptions of things that we are talking about.
-
We do not read the whole textbook.
-
You will also see, as we move through,
-
like for weeks three and four, we're only focusing on chapter four,
-
and so you'll notice we move around, all right?
-
So, in all, you are only reading nine chapters
-
out of this textbook.
-
They are all linked here in the class schedule,
-
which I hope you download this document to your computer.
-
They are also provided for you
-
in the actual course content, in the module.
-
So this is your landing page, your course home page.
-
Right here is my appointment calendar;
-
I'd love to meet with you.
-
Here's the announcements-- I-- this first week,
-
Just schedule some time.
-
there's going to be several, because I'm trying to keep you guys
-
up to date on what's happening.
-
So make sure you're coming in here and checking those out,
-
or you're going to your name
-
and you're clicking on notifications,
-
and you're making sure that you get reminders of due dates
-
and announcements; I really encourage that.
-
So, again, with every D2L course at PCC,
-
content is your main tab that you're working in.
-
Everything is linked here.
-
The Course Information folder
-
is what you need to open this first week.
-
You need to review the syllabus.
-
You can read my intro, if you want.
-
The-- again, the course schedule is here.
-
It is the web page but here is the link to the PDF
-
that you can download and keep on your computer,
-
and it's just two sided, okay.
-
So, in my opinion, this is much easier to read
-
than this big web page.
-
The other things for you to review this week are the style guide;
-
these are expectations around your writing.
-
In all business and entrepreneurship classes,
-
we create a style guide, because that's--
-
if you go work for a company, they have style guides.
-
And then, please take a look at the grading rubrics
-
for all the-- all the different assignments
-
that you're doing in this class.
-
I'm very transparent about grading
-
and and I also have a late policy.
-
If you read in the syllabus,
-
you'll see my late policy.
-
I do have a late policy.
