I KNEW This Was Coming!

  • 0:00 - 0:06
Xi Jinping wants to dominate Central
Asia for his Belt & Road Initiative!
  • 0:06 - 0:08
The EU and China might have
    a lot of difficulties lying
  • 0:08 - 0:11
ahead of them that could scuttle any trade deal.
  • 0:11 - 0:16
And the US found a game changer that can
frustrate China and Russia in the Arctic!
  • 0:16 - 0:21
That and more on this week’s
    China news headlines.
  • 0:21 - 0:23
Welcome to China Uncensored, I’m Chris Chappell.
  • 0:23 - 0:25
This episode is sponsored by Surfshark.
  • 0:25 - 0:28
    Whenever
you go online, you really should be using a VPN
  • 0:28 - 0:31
like Surfshark to cover your tracks and protect
    your identity.
  • 0:31 - 0:33
I’ll tell you more in a bit.
  • 0:33 - 0:34
    (shuffles papers)
    The US has revealed
  • 0:34 - 0:40
a new polar icebreaker amid its
Arctic rivalry with Russia and China!
  • 0:40 - 0:42
And by that I mean a literal polar icebreaker.
  • 0:42 - 0:47
Not asking a snow owl, “Crazy weather, huh?”
  • 0:47 - 0:48
    The new icebreaker
  • 0:48 - 0:52
    will help to expand America’s
presence in the Arctic Circle as
  • 0:52 - 0:55
part of a new Arctic Strategy unveiled last year.
  • 0:55 - 1:00
It’s the first new icebreaker the Coast
Guard has had in more than 25 years,
  • 1:00 - 1:05
but more are on the way, with
the first new Polar Security Cutter class icebreaker
  • 1:05 - 1:10
    beginning
    construction this year. ETA: 2028.
  • 1:10 - 1:12
Given what’s going on in America right now,
  • 1:12 - 1:16
this is one of the least controversial
stories involving the US and ICE.
  • 1:16 - 1:19
It’s about time the US Coast
    Guard got some new icebreakers!
  • 1:19 - 1:23
Russia and China have been conducting
joint naval drills near Alaska and
  • 1:23 - 1:27
elsewhere in the Arcticin a bid to
snatch up resources and trade routes…
  • 1:27 - 1:30
exposed by climate change melting the sea ice.
  • 1:30 - 1:35
    Conveniently, the Arctic also
borders a ton of NATO countries.
  • 1:35 - 1:40
Both Russia and China have also been
ramping up their pipelines to the far north
  • 1:40 - 1:43
    and adding icebreakers to
    their naval fleets.
  • 1:43 - 1:47
The CCP has even declared itself a “Near Arctic State,”
  • 1:47 - 1:50
which makes no sense if you look at a map.
  • 1:50 - 1:52
Unless it’s one drawn by them.
  • 1:52 - 1:57
    Currently, the Coast Guard operates
    around two dozen icebreakers,
  • 1:57 - 2:01
but only three are suitable for polar expeditions.
  • 2:01 - 2:06
    Meanwhile, Russia possesses more
    than 40 icebreakers and controls
  • 2:06 - 2:08
    53% of the Arctic coastline.
  • 2:08 - 2:12
    So, it’s a
no-brainer why the US needs these ships.
  • 2:12 - 2:16
On the bright side, skirmishes might be less
dramatic if they run into any Chinese ships,
  • 2:16 - 2:20
since the water in their water
    cannons would be all frozen.
  • 2:20 - 2:22
    (shuffles papers)
    Pro-Russian Telegram videos
  • 2:22 - 2:25
and Ukrainian intelligence reports suggest that…
  • 2:25 - 2:30
China has armed Russia with a
laser gun to shoot down drones.
  • 2:30 - 2:32
It’s called the “Silent Hunter” system
  • 2:32 - 2:35
    , and
it’s a pretty sophisticated piece of weaponry.
  • 2:35 - 2:39
    Designed to search for, track,
    and take down enemy drones,
  • 2:39 - 2:44
the laser can be mounted on top of an SUV
and operated from within the vehicle.
  • 2:44 - 2:49
No word on if these fricking lasers can be
mounted on the heads of fricking sharks.
  • 2:49 - 2:53
From the vehicle, it can detect
    drones from 3.1 miles away,
  • 2:53 - 2:55
blind them once they’re two miles
    away,
  • 2:55 - 2:57
and shoot them down a mile out.
  • 2:57 - 3:01
    Beijing has regularly denied claims
that it is providing direct military
  • 3:01 - 3:05
support to Moscow and has even
    offered to broker a ceasefire.
  • 3:05 - 3:08
    Which, knowing them, wouldn’t
surprise me to learn is the name of
  • 3:08 - 3:09
    One of their weapons.
  • 3:09 - 3:12
Russia has stepped up its defenses
    against Ukrainian drones lately,
  • 3:12 - 3:15
while ramping up its own drone program.
  • 3:15 - 3:18
It would seem that “no-limits partnership” with
    the CCP
  • 3:18 - 3:20
is starting to pay off for Putin…
  • 3:20 - 3:23
at least until China’s sudden but inevitable
    betrayal,
  • 3:23 - 3:25
when they stab them in the back.
  • 3:25 - 3:28
Or possibly shark-laser them in the back.
  • 3:28 - 3:29
    (shuffles papers)
    And after the break,
  • 3:29 - 3:35
the EU and China are finding
it hard to mend trade ties.
  • 3:35 - 3:36
    Welcome back.
  • 3:36 - 3:39
    (shuffles papers)
Something shocking and rare has happened!
  • 3:39 - 3:42
The chief of the European Unionhas declared that…
  • 3:42 - 3:48
She agrees with President Trump on China
trade issues and that “Donald is right”!
  • 3:48 - 3:51
Did…I wake up in an alternate universe?
  • 3:51 - 3:53
The European Commission President was at the G7
  • 3:53 - 3:56
    meeting in Canada earlier
    this week, where she said:
  • 3:56 - 3:59
“when we focus our attention on tariffs between
    partners,
  • 3:59 - 4:02
it diverts our energy from the real challenge
  • 4:02 - 4:07
    — one that threatens us all”...
and also said that “on this point,
  • 4:07 - 4:10
Donald is right–there is a serious problem.”
  • 4:10 - 4:12
Well no duh Donald is right…
  • 4:12 - 4:13
    he’s a Republican.
  • 4:13 - 4:18
    They’re right, and
    the Democrats are left, silly.
  • 4:18 - 4:23
Von Der Leyen was referring to the CCP’s
restrictions on raw materials exports needed
  • 4:23 - 4:25
for batteries, cars, and wind turbines.
  • 4:25 - 4:27
    She
also accused the Chinese Communist Party of
  • 4:27 - 4:33
“weaponizing” its ability to produce critical
raw materials while icing out competitors.
  • 4:33 - 4:36
I guess that’s another good reason
for the US to get more icebreakers.
  • 4:36 - 4:39
    (shuffles papers)
Troubles between the EU and China don’t end there.
  • 4:39 - 4:43
Earlier this week, the EU refused to hold a key meeting with China
  • 4:43 - 4:46
    over trade
    spats before a leaders’ summit.
  • 4:46 - 4:50
The EU cited a lack of progress
on trade disputes as the reason.
  • 4:50 - 4:54
So, are they now realizing that it’s pointless
to negotiate and do business with a lying,
  • 4:54 - 4:55
    brutal dictatorship?
  • 4:55 - 5:01
Are all my years spent yelling
    about this finally being heeded?
  • 5:01 - 5:02
    Sadly, no.
  • 5:02 - 5:06
    Trade talks are still ongoing
    between China and the EU.
  • 5:06 - 5:08
Because if there’s one thing Europe loves doing,
  • 5:08 - 5:10
it’s holding endless rounds of talks…
  • 5:10 - 5:16
    with tyrants. Maybe the
647th time will be the charm!
  • 5:16 - 5:21
But Europe is getting less patient with the CCP’s
unfair economic practices and shady dealings.
  • 5:21 - 5:26
    It even accused China’s AliExpress
    of breaching illegal product rules…
  • 5:26 - 5:28
by failing to enforce rules designed to…
  • 5:28 - 5:34
keep influencers from promoting the online
sale of fake medicines or illegal products…
  • 5:34 - 5:36
And to keep porn out of the hands of minors.
  • 5:36 - 5:40
I don’t mean to victim blame, but at this point,
  • 5:40 - 5:46
    if you’re surprised China isn’t
following the rules, what a dumb, gullible victim
  • 5:46 - 5:50
    .In response, China is
doing what it does best: denial and blame!
  • 5:50 - 5:56
China lashed out at the G-7 and Von Der
Leyen for criticism of its policies.
  • 5:56 - 5:58
Guo Jiakun, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson,
  • 5:58 - 6:03
said that comments made at the G7 that were
critical of China’s trade practices were…
  • 6:03 - 6:06
    “irresponsible,” “manipulative,” and “a smear.”
  • 6:06 - 6:08
He should work at a movie theater,
  • 6:08 - 6:12
because he’s an expert in projection.
  • 6:12 - 6:14
No doubt, both sides will find a way to get back
  • 6:14 - 6:18
    to the negotiating table at
    some point. They always do.
  • 6:18 - 6:20
But Europe might be making all of these statements
  • 6:20 - 6:24
to get on Trump’s good side and build
some leverage for whenever talks do resume
  • 6:24 - 6:30
    . Because I have a good feeling
the 648th time will be the charm!
  • 6:30 - 6:31
    (shuffles papers)
    But China does have
  • 6:31 - 6:32
    some trade alternatives.
  • 6:32 - 6:34
    Well,
    at least they’re trying to.
  • 6:34 - 6:38
Xi Jinping has signed a treaty to
elevate China’s ties with Central Asia
  • 6:38 - 6:40
at a summit in Astana, Kazakhstan.
  • 6:40 - 6:44
The treaty that was signed talks about permanent good-neighbourliness
  • 6:44 - 6:46
    and
    friendly cooperation with the leaders
  • 6:46 - 6:49
    of… Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan,
  • 6:49 - 6:52
    Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
  • 6:52 - 6:55
Trusting China to be a good neighbor and keep its word
  • 6:55 - 7:00
    ? Sounds like
something a dumb, gullible victim would do.
  • 7:00 - 7:03
This China-Central Asia summit was the second
    of its kind,
  • 7:03 - 7:04
with the first being in 2023.
  • 7:04 - 7:08
While there, Xi also took a swipe at the US and others,
  • 7:08 - 7:12
criticizing the so-called hegemonism and tariffs…
  • 7:12 - 7:15
which have been imposed by President
Trump on some of these countries.
  • 7:15 - 7:20
But Xi also called for more cooperation
in trade, agriculture, and other areas,
  • 7:20 - 7:25
    while announcing a $208.9 million
dollar grant to help these countries
  • 7:25 - 7:27
    with livelihood and development projects.
  • 7:27 - 7:31
    Which has absolutely zero
    strings attached, I’m sure.
  • 7:31 - 7:33
The CCP is making it clear that it wants to deepen
  • 7:33 - 7:36
    its Belt & Road infrastructure
    and investments in the region
  • 7:36 - 7:40
and gain access to Central Asian
    minerals and energy resources.
  • 7:40 - 7:43
And there’s no time like the present!
  • 7:43 - 7:46
    Historically, these areas were crucial
    to Silk Road trade
  • 7:46 - 7:52
. The historical one,not the online black market that
AliExpress seems like it wants to replace.
  • 7:52 - 7:54
But later, China had some stiff competition from
  • 7:54 - 7:57
    other empires and countries,
    like Russia, Iran, and Turkey.
  • 7:57 - 8:00
Now, Turkey is facing serious economic issues…
  • 8:00 - 8:01
    while Russia…
  • 8:01 - 8:07
and Iran are bogged down in wars that are
depleting both their financial and military power.
  • 8:07 - 8:11
And as for the West, they’ve either mostly
ignored this region or are turned off from it…
  • 8:11 - 8:16
by the Afghanistan debacle and the
    authoritarian regimes governing these countries.
  • 8:16 - 8:20
But a couple of months ago, the EU held a
similar meeting with Central Asian leaders,
  • 8:20 - 8:24
and other countries such as the US
and South Korea are also exploring
  • 8:24 - 8:25
    deepening cooperation.
  • 8:25 - 8:28
    Only time
will tell where that will go.
  • 8:28 - 8:29
    (shuffles papers)
    And did you know that
  • 8:29 - 8:33
every time you go online, everything
    you do is potentially compromised?
  • 8:33 - 8:34
And that’s why the people at Surfshark created a

    VPN that keeps your internet
    activity private and secure.

    steps to protect yourself,
  • 8:40 - 8:44
everything you do is being tracked
and logged—by the websites you visit,
  • 8:44 - 8:48
    your internet service provider,
and often by your own government.

Using a VPN makes you harder to track.
  • 8:50 - 8:55
