Hello everyone and welcome for this
new Les Termes episode
-
the everchanging show tackl ing
new, random topics as we go
-
but we're very happy to have you again
for this exceptional episode
-
first and foremost thanks to Seb's presence here
as he automatically makes our show exceptional
-
I'm never supposed to be here and
yet here I am (I swear I don't sleep here)
-
your presence ALWAYS is exceptional
-
I'm very happy to be here as we have
prestigious guests today
-
I couldn't be more excited because
we'll talk video games
-
but not just any games
-
exactly, this is only the second time
we're receiving people from the v. game industry
-
(we already did it a couple months ago)
-
and now here you are, but you're not
random people and this is not a random moment
-
ok ok maybe you're random people
-
the "Kojimas from Southern France
-
hello, I'm Guillaume Broche CEO
and creative director at Sandfall
-
we released Expedition 33 two
weeks before making this video
-
I'm Alan, I've been working as
lead character artist at Sandfall
-
for more than 4 years,
since Sandfall was created basically
-
ok so you're part of the Sandfall studio
which just released Expedition 33
-
that you were able to see on this channel
as we made our own video about it
-
exceptional game, exceptional feedback,
we'll discuss that shortly
-
I guess you already did so with
quite a bunch of journalists
-
who most likely profusely licked your boots
-
exactly so we came here for blood
-
ok so before we start, no worries,
it'll be a spoil free video
-
we'll only show footage from Act I
-
you may only see images from the first
10 minutes of the game
-
so no worries, you can stick around
-
we'll be speaking about video game
creation and production
-
(especially that video game) but
people will still be able to discover
-
the game on their own.
-
by the way, should we call it "Expedition 33"
or "Clair Obscur"?
-
that's for everyone to decide, we personally
just call it "Expe'"
-
but Expedition 33 is easier to pronounce
around the world
-
is it true that Japanese people just
call it "whatever 33"?
-
yeah that's amazing, we actually planned on
releasing it with that title for the Japanese version
-
is it official?
it sure is.
-
so, before we actually start speaking,
can I ask you about what it is that
-
you really, actually do at Sandfall
-
are you actually working ooor
-
well we haven't done much these past two weeks,
just fixing minor bugs here and there
-
I personally direct the project, it all
originated from my own personal project
-
and because it started at such, I do all
kinds of things
-
so 10% of my time is dedicated to team
management and feeback
-
but the other 90% is spent on Unreal
doing things, many things
-
tech animation, cutscenes, boss design,
battle design, battle camera
-
ah so you really do a bit of everything
-
so you actually partake in the process making
-
yes yes absolutely, that's where most of
my time goes, on Unreal
-
this project was born from my passion
for Unreal
-
I opened Unreal, wanting to learn it,
and I was like omg that's amazing
-
was it Unreal 4 back then?
- yes it was 4.21
-
funny story here: the very first project
I saved as I was learning the software
-
was named "Sandfall" as I already
had some ideas for the story with
-
the passing of time so I quickly
opted for this idea - hourglass, sand falling
-
and so it became the studio's name
