How I Manage My Time Effectively (My 'Deep Work' Routine)

  • 0:00 - 0:07
We all know the daily grind
    can be exhausting.
  • Not Synced
    It's an especially defeating feeling
when you work hard for hours
  • Not Synced
only to realize that not much
    has been accomplished.
  • Not Synced
    You feel distracted, disoriented, and
    even feel anxious
  • Not Synced
as if the day's time has been wasted.
  • Not Synced
And you can't even quite recall
what you did for the day.
  • Not Synced
We often hear the famous saying,
  • Not Synced
    work smarter, not harder.
  • Not Synced
This highlights the importance of focus
  • Not Synced
    in having an effective system
    that actually works
  • Not Synced
    rather than simply putting in
    countless hours on task
  • Not Synced
    without making meaningful progress.
  • Not Synced
So in today's video, I'll be sharing
  • Not Synced
    five most powerful
    time management tips
  • Not Synced
    that have worked for me
    and that I'm still using.
  • Not Synced
And I'll also show you how I structure
and manage my time throughout the day
  • Not Synced
while juggling my business and family.
  • Not Synced
Hopefully, you'll find a few tips
in the video to help you
  • Not Synced
create and adjust your daily routine
to be not only more productive
  • Not Synced
    but also, genuinely more enjoyable.
  • Not Synced
The first tip is to do one thing
at a time with full focus,
  • Not Synced
    aka, Pomodoro Technique.
  • Not Synced
    I don't believe in multitasking
    very much.
  • Not Synced
The quality of focus is the
    best way to be productive.
  • Not Synced
In the past, I used to sit at my desk
for many hours grinding away but
  • Not Synced
I often ended up unable to accomplish
as much work as I had hoped.
  • Not Synced
Not even close. So I intentionally
    tried to stop multitasking,
  • Not Synced
even the kind that I tend to do
    automatically by default.
  • Not Synced
Instead, when I focus on one thing,
  • Not Synced
I aim to give it my full attention and
use the time as efficiently as possible.
  • Not Synced
    Having an effective system that
    promotes full focus is crucial.
  • Not Synced
It enhances the quality of your work and
  • Not Synced
    ultimately, leads to the outcome
    you hope to achieve.
  • Not Synced
With that said, the method I use
for my focus work sessions is
  • Not Synced
    the flexible Pomodoro, which stems
    from the popular Pomodoro Technique.
  • Not Synced
Pomodoro Technique is one of the most
effective ways to maximize my focus,
  • Not Synced
enhance the quality of my work and
    minimize overwhelm.
  • Not Synced
Here are the basic steps to
    follow the Pomodoro Method.
  • Not Synced
    No. 1. Pick one task,
  • Not Synced
preferably your priority no. 1 task
    for the day to complete.
  • Not Synced
    No. 2. Set a 25-minute timer.
  • Not Synced
    A typical Pomodoro session
    lasts 25 minutes.
  • Not Synced
    But I do 35 minutes.
  • Not Synced
No. 3. Work on your one task
    with full focus, no distractions.
  • Not Synced
No. 4. When your session ends,
    record what you've completed.
  • Not Synced
I do this in my Notion To-Do list.
    No. 5. Take a 5-minute break.
  • Not Synced
Stand up, walk around, and stretch.
  • Not Synced
No. 6. Repeat the process four times.
    But I do three times.
  • Not Synced
    One thing to note.
  • Not Synced
If you finish one task with time left,
    don't stop the session.
  • Not Synced
Move onto the next task until the break.
  • Not Synced
    Now that we've covered
    the basics of the technique,
  • Not Synced
let me explain why I think
    the technique worked for me
  • Not Synced
and what I mean by Flexible Pomodoro
when I say I use the Pomodoro Technique.
  • Not Synced
    The Pomodoro Technique works because
  • Not Synced
    it lowers the entry barrier
    to tackling tasks.
  • Not Synced
It's much easier to commit to
25 or 35 minutes of focused work
  • Not Synced
than to face a massive task
without knowing when it will be done.
  • Not Synced
    It's just like approaching
    a 1000-piece puzzle by saying
  • Not Synced
I'm going to work on this section for
25 minutes for now, rather than saying
  • Not Synced
I'll finish all 1,000 pieces but
I don't know when it's going to be done.
  • Not Synced
Lowering the entry barrier is key to
getting started on heavy work loads
  • Not Synced
    and staying consistent
    without procrastination.
  • Not Synced
Another reason this technique works is
that it maximizes the quality of focus.
  • Not Synced
During the session, I focus on one task
and one task only, instead of jumping
  • Not Synced
from one thing to another, which allows me
to go deeper into my work,
  • Not Synced
what we often refer to as,
    getting in the zone.
