So, already He has promised the Messiah
  • 13:32 - 13:35
coming, in Genesis 3:15, and now He
  • 13:35 - 13:38
may be alluding to the sacrificial system
  • 13:38 - 13:39
    of how they're covered
  • 13:39 - 13:40
    from their sin as well.
  • 13:40 - 13:43
(Puia) So, in other words, Shawn,
  • 13:43 - 13:45
what you're saying is the purpose
  • 13:45 - 13:47
of the sacrifice, all the way
  • 13:47 - 13:49
    from the beginning of Genesis,
  • 13:49 - 13:52
was to cover or to atone
  • 13:52 - 13:54
    for the sins, right?
  • 13:54 - 13:56
Anyone else want to add on that point?
  • 13:56 - 13:57
    (Derek) Puia, I think that's
  • 13:57 - 13:59
a really good point; this isn't something
  • 13:59 - 14:02
    that people thought up.
  • 14:02 - 14:04
If it was, it would have been unfair
  • 14:04 - 14:07
of God to say, "I accept Abel's sacrifice,
  • 14:07 - 14:11
    but I don't accept Cain's fruit offering."
  • 14:11 - 14:13
    Clearly, God had explained
  • 14:13 - 14:16
not only what to do, but as Shawn
  • 14:16 - 14:20
    pointed out, the significance, right,
  • 14:20 - 14:23
    that it symbolized what God
  • 14:23 - 14:25
was going to do to provide salvation.
  • 14:25 - 14:29
    (Puia) Right. Back in Leviticus
  • 14:29 - 14:33
where we read, Leviticus, chapter 1,
  • 14:33 - 14:35
that Scott read for us, there is
  • 14:35 - 14:37
    a very interesting instruction
  • 14:37 - 14:41
that God gave to Moses in verse 4.
  • 14:41 - 14:43
God said, "He shall put his hand
  • 14:43 - 14:47
on the head of the burnt offering."
  • 14:47 - 14:49
What do you think that symbolizes
  • 14:49 - 14:51
when you put your hand on the animal
  • 14:51 - 14:53
that is about to be sacrificed? Scott.
  • 14:53 - 14:56
(Scott) There is a symbolic transference.
  • 14:56 - 15:00
The sinner's sin is now transferred
  • 15:00 - 15:02
to the sacrifice, just in the same way
  • 15:02 - 15:05
that Jesus bore our sins when He offered
  • 15:05 - 15:07
    His life as a sacrifice.
  • 15:07 - 15:08
(Puia) Alright, so you are going ahead
  • 15:08 - 15:12
to the ultimate point of this sacrifice,
  • 15:12 - 15:14
but thank you for pointing that out.
  • 15:14 - 15:16
So, in other words, this animal,
  • 15:16 - 15:21
    this innocent animal, died
  • 15:21 - 15:23
    on behalf of the sinner.
  • 15:23 - 15:25
And so, as the sinner put his hands
  • 15:25 - 15:27
on the animal, symbolically the sin
  • 15:27 - 15:29
    is transferred to that animal,
  • 15:29 - 15:31
    and so the animal paid
  • 15:31 - 15:34
for the sin of the sinner.
  • 15:34 - 15:38
So, there is a deep symbolic transference,
  • 15:38 - 15:42
symbolic sacrifice that we see from this.
  • 15:42 - 15:46
Now, let's jump all the way to 1 Kings,
  • 15:46 - 15:48
chapter 8, and let me request Sophia
  • 15:48 - 15:50
    to read this for us,
  • 15:50 - 15:54
    1 Kings, chapter 8, verses 62 to 63,
  • 15:54 - 15:57
and let's look at the sacrifice
  • 15:57 - 16:00
in which King Solomon led out
  • 16:00 - 16:03
as they dedicate the new temple.
  • 16:03 - 16:04
    (Sophia) And I'll be reading
  • 16:04 - 16:06
from the New King James Version:
  • 16:27 - 16:29
    (Puia) Wow! How many animals?
  • 16:29 - 16:32
    Twenty-two thousand bulls,
  • 16:32 - 16:36
and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep -
    that's a lot!
  • 16:36 - 16:38
    (Joshua) That's a whole lot.
  • 16:38 - 16:39
(Puia) Joshua, that's a whole lot
  • 16:39 - 16:41
of animals, right, you just said
  • 16:41 - 16:42
    that's a whole lot.
  • 16:42 - 16:45
For someone like me who became
  • 16:45 - 16:47
    a vegetarian as a result
  • 16:47 - 16:51
    of watching animals suffering,
  • 16:51 - 16:52
    this number is a lot.
  • 16:52 - 16:54
I remember I was in college,
  • 16:54 - 16:56
and one of our professors in college
  • 16:56 - 16:58
    showed us this documentary
  • 16:58 - 17:01
of how much the animal kingdom
  • 17:01 - 17:02
    is suffering as a result
  • 17:02 - 17:04
    of human consumption.
  • 17:04 - 17:06
    And after watching that documentary,
  • 17:06 - 17:09
I was moved; I was like, "I have
  • 17:09 - 17:10
    to become a vegetarian."
  • 17:10 - 17:13
So, from college, I decided to stop
  • 17:13 - 17:15
    eating animal meat.
  • 17:15 - 17:17
And as I am reading this,
  • 17:17 - 17:22
    22,000 bulls, 120,000 sheep,
  • 17:22 - 17:24
    how do you explain this?
  • 17:24 - 17:26
    Or, what are your thoughts
  • 17:26 - 17:29
about this massive number of animals
  • 17:29 - 17:30
    being sacrificed? Derek.
  • 17:30 - 17:34
(Derek) Puia, I struggle with this,
  • 17:34 - 17:36
because I don't see God asking
  • 17:36 - 17:40
for such a massive amount of slaughter.
  • 17:40 - 17:44
It makes me wonder if there is
  • 17:44 - 17:48
    a misunderstanding coming, that more
  • 17:48 - 17:51
    of them would be better.
  • 17:51 - 17:54
    But, actually it's a symbol,
  • 17:54 - 17:57
    so wouldn't a symbol
  • 17:57 - 18:01
    of one be significant?
  • 18:01 - 18:04
    I don't know; I struggle with that.
  • 18:04 - 18:06
It's like saying, "I'll confess my sin,
  • 18:06 - 18:09
but maybe if I did it 100 times
  • 18:09 - 18:12
over and over again, God would be
  • 18:12 - 18:14
    more pleased with me."
  • 18:14 - 18:15
    And that's not the character
  • 18:15 - 18:17
    of God that we know.
  • 18:17 - 18:19
(Puia) We don't see any instruction
  • 18:19 - 18:24
from God for that massive number,
    right? Joshua?
  • 18:24 - 18:25
    (Joshua) I mean, that's
  • 18:25 - 18:27
    a ridiculous amount.
  • 18:27 - 18:29
And I'm just thinking about it,
  • 18:29 - 18:31
because I once went to an event
  • 18:31 - 18:33
where there were 50,000 people there
  • 18:33 - 18:35
all at the same time, and it was
  • 18:35 - 18:38
just an amazing amount of people.
  • 18:38 - 18:42
So, I'm just here picturing 22,000 bulls
  • 18:42 - 18:45
and 120,000 sheep, and I'm thinking,
  • 18:45 - 18:47
how did they clean that up?
  • 18:47 - 18:49
And on top of that, I mean, Solomon
  • 18:49 - 18:51
    was an extremely rich man,
  • 18:51 - 18:53
    the richest who ever lived,
  • 18:53 - 18:56
so perhaps in his material wealth
  • 18:56 - 19:01
he wanted to reflect the level
  • 19:01 - 19:04
of spiritual sacrifice he could make.
  • 19:04 - 19:05
(Puia) I see a few hands.
  • 19:05 - 19:07
Let me come to our remote, Rodney,
  • 19:07 - 19:09
    Alex, then Zandile.
  • 19:09 - 19:11
(Rodney) Puia, I appreciate the fact
  • 19:11 - 19:12
    that we are actually walking
  • 19:12 - 19:14
    through the Scriptures
  • 19:14 - 19:17
on the sacrificial system, and Shawn
  • 19:17 - 19:20
brought us to a very important point
  • 19:20 - 19:23
from the very inception, which is,
  • 19:23 - 19:25
in Genesis 3, verse 15, it speaks
  • 19:25 - 19:28
to the fact (I'm just paraphrasing)
    that there is
  • 19:28 - 19:32
    a deliberate and intentional connection
  • 19:32 - 19:37
    between sin and sacrifice
  • 19:37 - 19:40
    at ultimate delivery.
  • 19:40 - 19:42
In other words, Genesis 3:15 brings us
  • 19:42 - 19:45
to the point that says we have sinned,
  • 19:45 - 19:47
and there is a Messiah who is to come
  • 19:47 - 19:48
    who is the ultimate sacrifice.
  • 19:48 - 19:49
So, here it is now, we are
  • 19:49 - 19:53
at, back to Joshua's point, 120,000 sheep
  • 19:53 - 19:54
    and 22,000 bulls.
  • 19:54 - 19:57
I think the intent there is
  • 19:57 - 19:59
    to really demonstrate the depth
  • 19:59 - 20:03
at which sin has taken us away from God.
  • 20:03 - 20:07
And so, that chasm cannot be crossed
  • 20:07 - 20:10
by 120,00 sheep and 22,000 bulls.
  • 20:10 - 20:13
    It had to be bridged
  • 20:13 - 20:15
by the Son of God Himself.
  • 20:15 - 20:17
And so, it brings to the fore
  • 20:17 - 20:21
the real gravity of sin and what it takes
  • 20:21 - 20:23
God to do for us to save us,
  • 20:23 - 20:25
    ultimately, from sin.
  • 20:25 - 20:26
    (Puia) Thank you, Rodney,
  • 20:26 - 20:28
    for this point. Alex?
  • 20:28 - 20:30
(Alex) Yes, and all the comments
  • 20:30 - 20:33
    are very [good] because God...
  • 20:33 - 20:35
That's a horrible sight to see,
  • 20:35 - 20:37
    all those animals, just slaughtered,
  • 20:37 - 20:40
and that's exactly how God wants us
  • 20:40 - 20:42
    to see this whole process.
  • 20:42 - 20:45
The sin issue is not a beautiful sight,
  • 20:45 - 20:47
but by the grace of God, He will
  • 20:47 - 20:49
    deliver us from it.
  • 20:49 - 20:51
    (Puia) Okay. Zandile?
  • 20:51 - 20:52
    (Zandile) I'm coming
  • 20:52 - 20:53
    from a different angle.
  • 20:53 - 20:55
When I was going through it,
  • 20:55 - 20:56
    I saw the willingness
  • 20:56 - 20:58
    of the people to give.
  • 20:58 - 21:00
To me, it spoke to the gratitude
  • 21:00 - 21:01
    of human beings.
  • 21:01 - 21:03
They were fully blessed by God
  • 21:03 - 21:06
for them to give such a huge number
  • 21:06 - 21:08
    of sacrifices, and God accepts
  • 21:08 - 21:10
    their sacrifices anyway.
  • 21:10 - 21:13
So, it was more like, "Are we willing
to give God as much as...
  • 21:13 - 21:15
    (Derek) I stand corrected.
  • 21:15 - 21:17
It may be it was exactly what God
  • 21:17 - 21:19
wanted to happen, and it does show
  • 21:19 - 21:24
the gravity of sin and the appreciation.
  • 21:24 - 21:26
I'll have to ask when we
  • 21:26 - 21:28
get to Heaven, on that one.
  • 21:28 - 21:29
    (Puia) This is the beauty
  • 21:29 - 21:31
    of this discussion, right;
  • 21:31 - 21:32
    it's in-depth, interactive, because we
  • 21:32 - 21:34
    may have different perspectives,
  • 21:34 - 21:35
    and hearing different angles
  • 21:35 - 21:37
    gives us a bigger picture.
  • 21:37 - 21:39
And as I was reading this,
  • 21:39 - 21:42
I remembered that in another place,
  • 21:42 - 21:45
    in 2 Chronicles, chapter 7,
  • 21:45 - 21:48
    this same story is described,
  • 21:48 - 21:50
but in 2 Chronicles we are told
  • 21:50 - 21:53
that as Solomon prayed to God
  • 21:53 - 21:54
    in dedication of the temple,
  • 21:54 - 21:56
the new temple that was built,
  • 21:56 - 21:58
    God filled the whole temple
  • 21:58 - 22:00
    with His presence, right,
  • 22:00 - 22:03
that the priests could not enter
  • 22:03 - 22:05
    the temple because the presence
  • 22:05 - 22:09
    of God was so huge.
  • 22:09 - 22:11
And so, we saw that God
  • 22:11 - 22:14
    accepted the sacrifice.
  • 22:14 - 22:17
But still, even without that big number,
  • 22:17 - 22:19
if you think about it, every day,
  • 22:19 - 22:21
    sacrificing an animal every day,
  • 22:21 - 22:23
think about the number of animals
  • 22:23 - 22:25
that were sacrificed on a regular basis.
  • 22:25 - 22:28
It still is a huge number,
  • 22:28 - 22:30
and what I learned for myself personally
  • 22:30 - 22:32
from this was that it was so unfair
  • 22:32 - 22:35
for that animal, and it was so unjust
  • 22:35 - 22:36
    for that animal.
  • 22:36 - 22:38
What did that animal do, what did
  • 22:38 - 22:39
that lamb do, what did that sheep do,
  • 22:39 - 22:41
    what did that bull do
  • 22:41 - 22:45
to deserve that death? Nothing, right?
  • 22:45 - 22:48
Naturally, there was the lesson there,
  • 22:48 - 22:50
    because it was pointing forward.
  • 22:50 - 22:52
God was trying to teach them
  • 22:52 - 22:56
that there is going to come a Savior
  • 22:56 - 22:58
who is just, who is loving,
  • 22:58 - 23:01
    who doesn't deserve to die.
  • 23:01 - 23:02
And yet, He is going to die
  • 23:02 - 23:04
    on behalf of sinners.
  • 23:04 - 23:06
    This was all pointing forward.
  • 23:06 - 23:09
So, someone may be watching today
  • 23:09 - 23:11
and may be saying, "When I look
  • 23:11 - 23:13
at the Old Testament, when I see
  • 23:13 - 23:16
all these sacrifices, this is so unfair,
  • 23:16 - 23:17
    this is so cruel!"
  • 23:17 - 23:19
Well, my friend, that may be
  • 23:19 - 23:21
the lesson we need to learn,
  • 23:21 - 23:22
that the death of Jesus that was
  • 23:22 - 23:26
foreshadowed by this death of animals
  • 23:26 - 23:28
tells us that the death of Christ
  • 23:28 - 23:30
in other words is so cruel,
  • 23:30 - 23:31
that this is what sin does.
  • 23:31 - 23:34
This is the price for dying
  • 23:34 - 23:36
    on behalf of the sinner.
  • 23:36 - 23:38
    Let's continue our study.
  • 23:38 - 23:41
Now, this time let's go to Isaiah,
  • 23:41 - 23:45
chapter 1, verses 10 to 11, and let me
  • 23:45 - 23:48
request Stephanie to read this for us,
  • 23:48 - 23:51
    Isaiah, chapter 1, verses 10 to 11,
  • 23:51 - 23:54
and let's see how God responds
  • 23:54 - 23:57
to the peoples' sacrifice by this time.
  • 23:57 - 23:58
    (Stephanie) And I'll be reading
  • 23:58 - 24:00
from the New King James Version:
  • 24:25 - 24:26
    (Puia) What can we learn
  • 24:26 - 24:30
from this clear Word of God, Scott?
  • 24:30 - 24:32
(Scott) This shows that the point
  • 24:32 - 24:35
of sacrifices was never the sacrifice.
  • 24:35 - 24:38
The point was what was going on behind it.
  • 24:38 - 24:41
And so, you can kill all
  • 24:41 - 24:44
the cattle you want, but if your heart
  • 24:44 - 24:47
is not affected by it, if it doesn't
  • 24:47 - 24:49
change your life, then it's done nothing.
  • 24:49 - 24:53
Yeah, Jesus died, not just so we can say,
  • 24:53 - 24:55
"Oh, yeah, He died," but He died
  • 24:55 - 24:57
because He wants to change our lives.
  • 24:57 - 24:59
    (Puia) Okay, Kylynda.
  • 24:59 - 25:01
    (Kylynda) I was thinking
    this is an example
  • 25:01 - 25:04
of how it's easy to commodify
  • 25:04 - 25:06
    salvation and God, you know.
  • 25:06 - 25:08
Kind of a modern example, we think,
  • 25:08 - 25:11
"Well, if I just give this money,"
  • 25:11 - 25:14
"If I just donate this item,"
  • 25:14 - 25:16
"If I just purchase this for the church,
  • 25:16 - 25:19
well, then I'm in a right space with God."
  • 25:19 - 25:21
And we see this throughout history,
  • 25:21 - 25:24
and I think for some Israelites, maybe it
  • 25:24 - 25:26
had become rote, "Okay, well, here's
  • 25:26 - 25:28
    this sheep; alright, I'll go
  • 25:28 - 25:31
to my temple visit and give up the sheep,
  • 25:31 - 25:33
    and we're good."
  • 25:33 - 25:38
But, God is a God of immeasurable wealth.
  • 25:38 - 25:42
Anything that we give is nothing, right?
  • 25:42 - 25:45
And so, when we actually give something
  • 25:45 - 25:46
like the Israelites were required to,
  • 25:46 - 25:48
    a sacrifice - which, God
  • 25:48 - 25:50
    doesn't love bloodshed - and they're
  • 25:50 - 25:53
doing it without a change of heart,
  • 25:53 - 25:54
    that's a dangerous space.
  • 25:54 - 25:56
(Puia) Thank you for pointing it out.
  • 25:56 - 25:59
I think it's very easy even for us today
  • 25:59 - 26:02
to look at our relationship with God
  • 26:02 - 26:05
through that lens of religious traditions
  • 26:05 - 26:06
and kind of like a checklist...
  • 26:06 - 26:07
    (Derek) Rituals.
  • 26:07 - 26:08
    (Puia) Right, rituals,
  • 26:08 - 26:10
and just a checklist, "Okay, let me
  • 26:10 - 26:12
check this box: I've done this,
  • 26:12 - 26:14
I've done that, I've done that"
  • 26:14 - 26:16
    without trying to understand
  • 26:16 - 26:19
what God is trying to teach us internally.
  • 26:19 - 26:21
    Derek, you mentioned the sacrifice
  • 26:21 - 26:23
    that God accepted
  • 26:23 - 26:26
    between Abel and Cain, right?
  • 26:26 - 26:29
God accepted the sacrifice of Abel
  • 26:29 - 26:33
but rejected Cain, why was that? Nicole.
  • 26:33 - 26:34
    (Nicole) It's a heart issue
  • 26:34 - 26:36
    as it's been said before.
  • 26:36 - 26:37
I think that the Lord wants
  • 26:37 - 26:38
    a relationship with us.
  • 26:38 - 26:39
He wants to be in our hearts
  • 26:39 - 26:41
and not just in our behaviors.
  • 26:41 - 26:43
And so, we have to get to the place
  • 26:43 - 26:44
where our hearts are with Him
  • 26:44 - 26:46
and not just what we're doing
  • 26:46 - 26:47
    that shows who He is.
  • 26:47 - 26:49
    (Puia) That's right. Rodney.
  • 26:49 - 26:50
    And after Rodney's comment,
  • 26:50 - 26:54
I want to ask Shawn to get ready
  • 26:54 - 26:57
with Hebrews, chapter 10, verses 1 to 4.
  • 26:57 - 26:59
    Rodney, your comment, please.
  • 26:59 - 27:01
(Rodney) Puia, may I read Isaiah,
  • 27:01 - 27:03
chapter 1, a little bit further down
  • 27:03 - 27:05
in that very same chapter, to indicate
  • 27:05 - 27:08
what God was truly interested in,
  • 27:08 - 27:09
    Isaiah, chapter 1...
  • 27:09 - 27:10
    (Puia) Okay.
  • 27:10 - 27:12
    (Rodney) ...verses 16 to 18.
  • 27:12 - 27:15
(Puia) Give us some time to find that...
  • 27:15 - 27:17
(Rodney) And while we're reading that,
  • 27:17 - 27:19
as we said earlier, Israel had gotten
  • 27:19 - 27:20
to the point now, when this
  • 27:20 - 27:22
    just became like a ritual,
  • 27:22 - 27:25
it's like what we do day in and day out,
  • 27:25 - 27:27
    it really lost its meaning
  • 27:27 - 27:30
    in pointing people towards Jesus
  • 27:30 - 27:31
    who was going to be
  • 27:31 - 27:32
    the ultimate Sacrifice
  • 27:32 - 27:34
    for all of our sins.
  • 27:34 - 27:36
And here is what God is now interested in,
  • 27:36 - 27:38
    Isaiah 1, verses 16 to 18, and I'm reading
  • 27:38 - 27:42
from the New King James Version, it says:
  • 28:03 - 28:06
Then verse 18, and I love it; it says:
  • 28:22 - 28:23
    (Puia) Thank you, Rodney,
  • 28:23 - 28:24
    for pointing that out.
  • 28:24 - 28:26
I think this connects very well
  • 28:26 - 28:27
with the next verse that Shawn
  • 28:27 - 28:29
will be reading for us from Hebrews,
  • 28:29 - 28:30
    chapter 10, verses 1 to 4.
  • 28:30 - 28:32
    (Shawn) Yes, I'll be reading
  • 28:32 - 28:37
    Hebrews 10:1-4 from the English
    Standard Version.
  • 28:37 - 28:39
    Hebrews 10, verse 1:
  • 29:28 - 29:30
(Puia) Okay, so from that text,
  • 29:30 - 29:32
it's very clear that the blood
  • 29:32 - 29:33
    of the animal itself
  • 29:33 - 29:37
    cannot take away the sin.
  • 29:37 - 29:40
So, what was God trying to teach them?
  • 29:40 - 29:42
I think in verse 1 it hinted that, right?
  • 29:42 - 29:43
    There's that word; I don't know
  • 29:43 - 29:45
about your version, but in my version,
  • 29:45 - 29:47
the New King James Version, it says,
  • 29:47 - 29:50
"a shadow of the good things to come,"
  • 29:50 - 29:54
    so all the sacrifices were
  • 29:54 - 29:57
just a shadow of a greater thing
  • 29:57 - 29:58
    that was to come.
  • 29:58 - 30:00
As we have hinted at before,
  • 30:00 - 30:03
it was pointing forward to something
  • 30:03 - 30:05
    that was real. Scott.
  • 30:05 - 30:06
(Scott) One of the major themes
  • 30:06 - 30:08
in the book of Hebrews is
  • 30:08 - 30:11
    how Jesus is better, right?
  • 30:11 - 30:14
And so, Jesus is a better sacrifice,
  • 30:14 - 30:16
    there's a better priesthood,
  • 30:16 - 30:17
    better all these things.
  • 30:17 - 30:20
But in this case, the animal sacrifices
  • 30:20 - 30:22
    pointed to a better sacrifice,
  • 30:22 - 30:23
    that of Jesus.
  • 30:23 - 30:24
    A sacrifice of animals,
  • 30:24 - 30:26
    that couldn't take away sins,
  • 30:26 - 30:27
but Jesus' death on the cross
  • 30:27 - 30:28
    does have that ability
  • 30:28 - 30:30
    to take away sins.
  • 30:30 - 30:32
(Puia) Right, so if we put ourselves
  • 30:32 - 30:34
in the shoes of the people living
  • 30:34 - 30:37
    before the time of Jesus,
  • 30:37 - 30:39
they were looking forward to this event
  • 30:39 - 30:42
of the coming of the Messiah, a Savior.
  • 30:42 - 30:46
And by participating in that sacrifice,
  • 30:46 - 30:50
they were receiving the gift of salvation
  • 30:50 - 30:54
and the forgiveness of sin in advance
  • 30:54 - 30:57
    in symbolic traditions.
  • 30:57 - 30:59
It's almost like when you buy
  • 30:59 - 31:01
    a ticket before traveling.
  • 31:01 - 31:03
    Let's say you purchase
  • 31:03 - 31:05
a plane ticket to travel somewhere,
  • 31:05 - 31:08
and you have been given that ticket
  • 31:08 - 31:08
    through your email
  • 31:08 - 31:11
    or through your cell phone.
  • 31:11 - 31:12
    By looking at that ticket,
  • 31:12 - 31:14
    you are able to see...
  • 31:14 - 31:17
The ticket is like a symbol
  • 31:17 - 31:19
    of the journey to come.
  • 31:19 - 31:21
And then once you are on the plane
  • 31:21 - 31:24
    actually traveling, the plane ticket
  • 31:24 - 31:26
    had served its purpose, right?
  • 31:26 - 31:29
So, all the sacrifices of the animals
  • 31:29 - 31:31
    were just symbolic representations
  • 31:31 - 31:35
of the actual event that was to come.
  • 31:35 - 31:38
And when that did come, the sacrifices
  • 31:38 - 31:40
would have met their end, right?
  • 31:40 - 31:42
They would have served their purpose.
  • 31:42 - 31:45
Now, let's go back to Exodus and see
  • 31:45 - 31:48
this even clearer about how it was
  • 31:48 - 31:49
    pointing forward to the coming
  • 31:49 - 31:51
    of the Messiah.
  • 31:51 - 31:52
Let me request Shaina to read
  • 31:52 - 31:55
    for us Exodus, chapter 12.
  • 31:55 - 31:58
If you can read for us verses 1 to 8,
  • 31:58 - 32:02
verses 1 to 8 of Exodus 12, please.
  • 32:02 - 32:03
(Shaina) Sure, and I'll be reading
  • 32:03 - 32:05
from the New King James Version:
  • 33:26 - 33:28
(Puia) Thank you for reading that.
  • 33:28 - 33:32
So, we see this symbolic representation
  • 33:32 - 33:34
of the coming event once again,
  • 33:34 - 33:36
but at this time they were
  • 33:36 - 33:38
still in Egypt as slaves, right?
  • 33:38 - 33:40
They were still slaves, and God was
  • 33:40 - 33:41
    just about to bring them
  • 33:41 - 33:43
    out of their slavery.
  • 33:43 - 33:45
So as they sacrificed this animal,
  • 33:45 - 33:47
    a lamb without blemish,
  • 33:47 - 33:48
they were to take the blood
  • 33:48 - 33:50
and put it on the doorpost,
  • 33:50 - 33:52
    and God was saying
  • 33:52 - 33:53
    something was about to happen.
  • 33:53 - 33:55
    Let's continue; Shaina, can you
  • 33:55 - 33:57
take us to verses 12 and 13?
  • 33:57 - 33:59
Let's just conclude this part of the story
  • 33:59 - 34:02
in verses 12 and 13 of Exodus 12.
  • 34:02 - 34:04
(Shaina) Sure, and I will be reading
  • 34:04 - 34:06
from the New King James Version:
  • 34:39 - 34:40
(Puia) Okay, so God is saying,
  • 34:40 - 34:44
"I will pass over the house
  • 34:44 - 34:48
wherever there is blood on the door."
  • 34:48 - 34:49
    What important insight is God
  • 34:49 - 34:52
trying to teach them here? Shawn.
  • 34:52 - 34:55
(Shawn) What I love about this passage
  • 34:55 - 34:56
is that it just shows how powerful
  • 34:56 - 34:58
    our salvation really is.
  • 34:58 - 35:00
And what strikes me is that,
  • 35:00 - 35:03
as God passed through, He did not ask
  • 35:03 - 35:05
who was inside, He did not ask
  • 35:05 - 35:07
what they did, He did not ask
  • 35:07 - 35:09
for a recounting of their wrongs.
  • 35:09 - 35:11
All He looked for was if the blood
  • 35:11 - 35:13
of the lamb was on the door.
  • 35:13 - 35:16
And if the blood of the lamb covered them,
  • 35:16 - 35:18
it was enough for Him to pass over.
  • 35:18 - 35:20
And that's what Jesus does for us as well.
  • 35:20 - 35:22
As Scott was alluding to earlier
  • 35:22 - 35:25
with the transfer of the sacrifice,
  • 35:25 - 35:27
    when we have accepted Jesus,
  • 35:27 - 35:29
    His life covers ours.
  • 35:29 - 35:31
His character is counted as if it
  • 35:31 - 35:33
was our own, and God looks at you
  • 35:33 - 35:35
as if you have never sinned,
  • 35:35 - 35:36
    and you experience
  • 35:36 - 35:38
that great Passover in your life.
  • 35:38 - 35:40
    (Puia) That is beautiful.
  • 35:40 - 35:43
In fact, if we had time, and I wish
  • 35:43 - 35:43
    we could read more,
  • 35:43 - 35:46
    it's a very interesting story.
  • 35:46 - 35:48
God even instructed them that they
  • 35:48 - 35:50
were to celebrate this every single year
  • 35:50 - 35:53
moving forward, right, as a remembrance
  • 35:53 - 35:55
    of how God delivered them
  • 35:55 - 35:57
    out of Egypt from slavery.
  • 35:57 - 35:58
And so, this was to become
  • 35:58 - 36:00
    a memorial every year.
  • 36:00 - 36:03
And as we fast forward, Rodney,
  • 36:03 - 36:04
can I ask you to take us
  • 36:04 - 36:10
    to Matthew 26, verses 17 to 18,
  • 36:10 - 36:13
and let's see what Jesus does
  • 36:13 - 36:16
    on this Passover celebration
  • 36:16 - 36:18
when Jesus was here on Earth,
  • 36:18 - 36:20
    moving forward to Matthew 26,
  • 36:20 - 36:23
    verses 17 and 18, please.
  • 36:23 - 36:24
    (Rodney) And I'm reading
  • 36:24 - 36:25
from the New King James Version:
  • 36:53 - 36:55
(Puia) And can you quickly take us also
  • 36:55 - 36:57
    to verses 26 to 30
  • 36:57 - 37:00
of the same chapter, Matthew 26.
  • 37:00 - 37:01
    (Rodney) Still reading
  • 37:01 - 37:02
from the New King James Version:
  • 37:49 - 37:53
(Puia) Okay, so Jesus was here on Earth,
  • 37:53 - 37:56
and it was the Passover celebration time
  • 37:56 - 38:01
of that year, and Jesus instituted
  • 38:01 - 38:02
    basically a new institution
  • 38:02 - 38:06
but based on the same principle.
  • 38:06 - 38:08
What is Jesus trying to teach
  • 38:08 - 38:10
    His disciples through this institution
  • 38:10 - 38:12
    of the Lord's Supper
  • 38:12 - 38:16
    on Passover celebration time?
  • 38:16 - 38:19
    Anyone? Okay, I see Shaina
  • 38:19 - 38:23
    and Rodney, yes.
  • 38:23 - 38:25
(Shaina) So, ultimately Jesus was trying
  • 38:25 - 38:28
to show them that these symbols,
  • 38:28 - 38:32
these processes that the Jewish nation
  • 38:32 - 38:34
had been practicing for these centuries
  • 38:34 - 38:35
    at this point,
  • 38:35 - 38:38
He was coming to finally fulfill it
  • 38:38 - 38:41
and ultimately put an end to this system
  • 38:41 - 38:44
because He is the ultimate Lamb.
  • 38:44 - 38:46
    He is the Passover,
  • 38:46 - 38:49
    the initial Passover Lamb,
  • 38:49 - 38:50
    that was sacrificed
  • 38:50 - 38:53
    whose blood covered households.
  • 38:53 - 38:55
    Now, His blood would cover
  • 38:55 - 38:56
    the entire world.
  • 38:56 - 38:59
And so, He was demonstrating it.
  • 38:59 - 39:03
    It's so...I don't know, it's so important
  • 39:03 - 39:04
that He did it at the exact time
  • 39:04 - 39:09
that that first Passover happened, too.
  • 39:09 - 39:11
(Puia) Right, in other words, Jesus
  • 39:11 - 39:13
was confirming to everyone that, "Hey,
  • 39:13 - 39:15
    it's Me, it's about Me.
  • 39:15 - 39:16
    All the sacrifices,
  • 39:16 - 39:19
    especially the Passover celebration
  • 39:19 - 39:21
was pointing forward to this event
  • 39:21 - 39:22
that I am about to go through.
  • 39:22 - 39:24
    I am the sacrifice," right?
  • 39:24 - 39:27
Rodney, you have a comment, please.
  • 39:27 - 39:30
(Rodney) I love what Shaina just said.
  • 39:30 - 39:32
I really see a pattern happening here
  • 39:32 - 39:35
    from back in Israel's time
  • 39:35 - 39:37
where you had the 400-plus years
  • 39:37 - 39:41
of slavery, then you had the sacrifice,
  • 39:41 - 39:44
and then a miraculous (we call
  • 39:44 - 39:48
it Passover) delivery of God's people.
  • 39:48 - 39:51
But, here it is now, we fast forward
  • 39:51 - 39:52
    many generations later, Jesus is
  • 39:52 - 39:54
now saying, back to what you
  • 39:54 - 39:56
    just said, Puia, "I am
  • 39:56 - 39:58
that Passover Lamb; I am the One."
  • 39:58 - 40:02
So, we see sin ravaging the world
  • 40:02 - 40:03
    all the way from Adam,
  • 40:03 - 40:05
    generations after generations,
  • 40:05 - 40:07
all the way to Jesus' time.
  • 40:07 - 40:09
    Following the sequence,
  • 40:09 - 40:12
Jesus now dies as that Passover Lamb,
  • 40:12 - 40:14
and then there is going to be
  • 40:14 - 40:15
    an ultimate deliverance
  • 40:15 - 40:17
    of God's people to come.
  • 40:17 - 40:19
And here we are living in that time
  • 40:19 - 40:21
    just before the ultimate deliverance.
  • 40:21 - 40:23
So, it is clear that Jesus was
  • 40:23 - 40:25
really telling the disciples and all of us
  • 40:25 - 40:28
that He was fulfilling this Passover Lamb,
  • 40:28 - 40:29
and then the deliverance is to come,
  • 40:29 - 40:31
which is the Second Coming of Jesus.
  • 40:31 - 40:33
    (Puia) Thank you, that's amazing.
  • 40:33 - 40:37
So, most of us here and maybe our viewers
  • 40:37 - 40:39
from home, too, we may say,
  • 40:39 - 40:42
"Well, I wasn't there in Exodus.
  • 40:42 - 40:43
You know, I wasn't there in Egypt.
  • 40:43 - 40:45
    I don't feel like I am a part
  • 40:45 - 40:47
    of that Passover celebration."
  • 40:47 - 40:48
But, guess what, by Jesus' institution,
  • 40:48 - 40:51
    this Lord's Supper, we are
  • 40:51 - 40:52
    now a part of it!
  • 40:52 - 40:55
Jesus is inviting everyone of us
  • 40:55 - 40:58
to celebrate the deliverance that God
  • 40:58 - 41:01
has provided for us, not from Egypt
  • 41:01 - 41:05
but the deliverance from sin, right,
  • 41:05 - 41:07
by Jesus dying on the cross
  • 41:07 - 41:08
    as the sacrificial Lamb,
  • 41:08 - 41:10
    the Passover Lamb.
  • 41:10 - 41:11
In fact, we don't have the time
  • 41:11 - 41:16
to read this, but in the New Testament,
  • 41:16 - 41:18
Paul, in 1 Corinthians, chapter 5,
  • 41:18 - 41:20
verse 7, calls Jesus as "Christ,
  • 41:20 - 41:23
    our Passover Lamb."
  • 41:23 - 41:25
    So, by accepting Jesus
  • 41:25 - 41:29
as our Passover Lamb, we can proclaim
  • 41:29 - 41:32
the deliverance that God has provided
  • 41:32 - 41:35
for us from Satan's control, from sin.
  • 41:35 - 41:37
    From the bondage of sin,
  • 41:37 - 41:38
    from the slavery of sin,
  • 41:38 - 41:41
    from the condemnation of sin,
  • 41:41 - 41:43
    Christ has delivered us.
  • 41:43 - 41:45
    That's a beautiful concept.
  • 41:45 - 41:49
    Now, testimony time, this institution
  • 41:49 - 41:51
    that Jesus instituted
  • 41:51 - 41:54
just before He was arrested and crucified,
  • 41:54 - 41:56
    that Passover time that year,
  • 41:56 - 41:58
    Jesus taught His disciples,
  • 41:58 - 42:00
"Do this in remembrance of Me,"
  • 42:00 - 42:01
    washing His disciples' feet
  • 42:01 - 42:03
    and giving them bread
  • 42:03 - 42:05
and the grape juice, the wine,
  • 42:05 - 42:06
    to remember Him.
  • 42:06 - 42:08
    So, the Christian church tradition
  • 42:08 - 42:12
has been to celebrate this every so often.
  • 42:12 - 42:14
    Testimony time, has anyone
  • 42:14 - 42:18
had an experience where the celebration
  • 42:18 - 42:21
of the Lord's Supper touched you
  • 42:21 - 42:22
    in a special way?
  • 42:22 - 42:24
    Alex, I see your hand.
  • 42:24 - 42:27
(Alex) I can remember one, specifically,
  • 42:27 - 42:29
or I have been doing this recently
  • 42:29 - 42:32
whenever we partake of the bread
  • 42:32 - 42:34
and the wine, I picture myself
  • 42:34 - 42:36
as if I was a part of the 12
  • 42:36 - 42:38
    right then and there
  • 42:38 - 42:39
    and hearing Jesus' words
  • 42:39 - 42:41
    and even experiencing my feet
  • 42:41 - 42:44
    being washed by the Savior.
  • 42:44 - 42:45
    And that always touches me
  • 42:45 - 42:47
whenever I just think of Jesus
  • 42:47 - 42:49
    actually being there with me
  • 42:49 - 42:50
    doing the service,
  • 42:50 - 42:53
and not only just washing my feet
  • 42:53 - 42:55
but asking me to allow Him
  • 42:55 - 42:57
    to wash my heart, too.
  • 42:57 - 42:59
(Puia) Thank you for sharing that.
  • 42:59 - 43:02
I once read a story where this one church
  • 43:02 - 43:05
    was celebrating the Lord's Supper,
  • 43:05 - 43:08
and as the pastor and the elders prayed
  • 43:08 - 43:10
over the bread and the grape juice,
  • 43:10 - 43:13
    and they started distributing
    to the members,
  • 43:13 - 43:14
there was this young lady who was sitting
  • 43:14 - 43:16
    in one of the pews.
  • 43:16 - 43:18
As the deacon came towards her,
  • 43:18 - 43:21
    she felt unworthy to participate,
  • 43:21 - 43:23
so she told the deacon, "I'm not worthy
  • 43:23 - 43:25
to take this; I can't take this.
  • 43:25 - 43:27
    I'm too sinful."
  • 43:27 - 43:29
So, the deacon whispered to her,
  • 43:29 - 43:30
    "Young lady, take it.
  • 43:30 - 43:32
    It's for sinners."
  • 43:32 - 43:34
It's for you; it's for me!
  • 43:34 - 43:40
This is a beautiful symbolic institution
  • 43:40 - 43:43
that Jesus has instituted for us
  • 43:43 - 43:46
to participate in, for sinners like us
  • 43:46 - 43:48
who can be washed clean once again.
  • 43:48 - 43:50
    Nicole, your comment.
  • 43:50 - 43:52
(Nicole) I was going to say that I think
  • 43:52 - 43:53
it was very meaningful for me
  • 43:53 - 43:55
when I could share it with my daughters.
  • 43:55 - 43:57
When they were old enough to understand
  • 43:57 - 43:58
the sacrifice that Jesus has made
  • 43:58 - 44:01
and what it means to partake
  • 44:01 - 44:03
in the supper I think it was
    very meaningful
  • 44:03 - 44:05
to me to be able to wash their feet
  • 44:05 - 44:06
    and have them wash mine.
  • 44:06 - 44:08
    That was something that I
  • 44:08 - 44:10
    can always remember.
  • 44:10 - 44:12
    (Puia) That's beautiful.
  • 44:12 - 44:13
I wish we had the time to stay here
  • 44:13 - 44:16
a little longer, but time is running out,
  • 44:16 - 44:17
    so we have to move
  • 44:17 - 44:19
to the next part of our study.
  • 44:19 - 44:21
    Now, this plan of God's
  • 44:21 - 44:23
    to save us from sin,
  • 44:23 - 44:24
    according to the Bible
  • 44:24 - 44:26
    is not an afterthought.
  • 44:26 - 44:29
This was already in place by God,
  • 44:29 - 44:31
and we find this in Revelation 13,
  • 44:31 - 44:34
verse 8, and let me request Kylynda
  • 44:34 - 44:38
to take us there, revelation 13, verse 8.
  • 44:38 - 44:39
And let's see how the Lamb
  • 44:39 - 44:41
    is described here.
  • 44:41 - 44:42
    (Kylynda) I'll be reading
  • 44:42 - 44:44
from the New King James Version:
  • 44:55 - 44:56
    (Puia) "The Lamb slain
  • 44:56 - 44:58
from the foundation of the world."
  • 44:58 - 45:00
Sophia, can you take us to 1 Peter,
  • 45:00 - 45:04
    chapter 1, verses 18 to 21,
  • 45:04 - 45:06
    1 Peter 1, verses 18 to 21.
  • 45:06 - 45:08
Let's look at this same principle
  • 45:08 - 45:11
of the Lamb that was slain
  • 45:11 - 45:12
from the foundation of the world.
  • 45:12 - 45:14
    How does Peter [describe it]
  • 45:14 - 45:18
    in chapter 1, verses 18 to 21?
  • 45:18 - 45:19
    (Sophia) And I'll be reading
  • 45:19 - 45:21
from the New King James Version:
  • 45:54 - 45:56
    (Team, Puia) Amen.
  • 45:56 - 45:57
    (Puia) So, can anyone comment
  • 45:57 - 46:00
on this idea that the Lamb of God,
  • 46:00 - 46:02
    the Lamb that was slain
  • 46:02 - 46:04
even before the foundation of the world?
  • 46:04 - 46:06
In other words, it seems that God
  • 46:06 - 46:09
already had this plan in place. Scott?
  • 46:09 - 46:10
    (Scott) That's just what I
  • 46:10 - 46:11
    was going to say.
  • 46:11 - 46:13
    God wasn't caught by surprise.
  • 46:13 - 46:14
When God created us, He knew
  • 46:14 - 46:16
    because He knew the future.
  • 46:16 - 46:17
He knew that sin would come.
  • 46:17 - 46:20
And so He already had a plan.
  • 46:20 - 46:22
When we studied in the beginning
  • 46:22 - 46:25
of our study about the sacrificial system,
  • 46:25 - 46:27
    we're just seeing God's plan
  • 46:27 - 46:28
    that He was working
  • 46:28 - 46:30
to build that teaching, that lesson,
  • 46:30 - 46:34
for us, so we come in our day, and we see,
  • 46:34 - 46:36
wow, I mean, God knew about that.
  • 46:36 - 46:38
And in fact, nothing that happens
  • 46:38 - 46:40
in my life is a surprise to God.
  • 46:40 - 46:43
God doesn't get taken by surprise.
  • 46:43 - 46:44
    (Puia) From the very beginning,
  • 46:44 - 46:47
or even before God created the world,
  • 46:47 - 46:50
    Christ had covenanted Himself
  • 46:50 - 46:56
to love us even to the point of death.
  • 46:56 - 47:00
He loves us so very, very much.
  • 47:00 - 47:01
You may be watching today, friend,
  • 47:01 - 47:03
    and wondering, "Does God
  • 47:03 - 47:04
    really care about me?"
  • 47:04 - 47:07
    "Is God really love?"
  • 47:07 - 47:09
"Can I really trust that God loves me?"
  • 47:09 - 47:10
    Or maybe you are doubting
  • 47:10 - 47:12
    about God's character.
  • 47:12 - 47:14
I want to invite you to reflect
  • 47:14 - 47:17
on these verses that tell us that God,
  • 47:17 - 47:18
    in Jesus Christ, had
  • 47:18 - 47:20
    covenanted Himself to love us.
  • 47:20 - 47:22
Even before the foundation of the world,
  • 47:22 - 47:24
    God knew you.
  • 47:24 - 47:25
    Even before you were formed
  • 47:25 - 47:28
in your mother's womb, He loved you.
  • 47:28 - 47:30
So, whenever we have this problem
  • 47:30 - 47:32
of trying to understand God's character,
  • 47:32 - 47:34
it is always helpful to look at God
  • 47:34 - 47:36
    through the lens of Jesus.
  • 47:36 - 47:38
When we look at Jesus, we see
  • 47:38 - 47:40
a God who loves us so much.,
  • 47:40 - 47:42
So, don't give up; hold onto Jesus.
  • 47:42 - 47:45
Now, let's move on to the next couple
  • 47:45 - 47:47
    of verses here; let's go
  • 47:47 - 47:49
    to Isaiah, chapter 53.
  • 47:49 - 47:51
And can I ask Stephanie to read for us
  • 47:51 - 47:53
    Isaiah 53, verses 3 to 7,
  • 47:53 - 47:55
    and look at the prophecies
  • 47:55 - 47:57
that Isaiah gave ahead of time
  • 47:57 - 47:59
about the Messiah who was to come,
  • 47:59 - 48:01
    specifically in the context
  • 48:01 - 48:03
of this idea of a sacrifice.
  • 48:03 - 48:05
(Stephanie) Alright, and I'll be reading
  • 48:05 - 48:07
from the New King James Version:
  • 49:14 - 49:17
    (Puia) Wow. Verse 7 specifically,
  • 49:17 - 49:20
"He was oppressed and He was afflicted...
  • 49:20 - 49:23
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
  • 49:23 - 49:27
and as a sheep before its shearers
    is silent."
  • 49:27 - 49:30
    This concept of sacrifice
  • 49:30 - 49:32
is clearly seen in this prophecy
    of the Messiah.
  • 49:32 - 49:33
    Sophia, you have a comment?
  • 49:33 - 49:35
(Sophia) I think it's so powerful
  • 49:35 - 49:37
that He deemed us so important
  • 49:37 - 49:38
not even to make a sound
  • 49:38 - 49:39
    with His suffering.
  • 49:39 - 49:41
    You know, no complaint, nothing.
  • 49:41 - 49:43
(Puia) Right, this is a prophecy,
  • 49:43 - 49:45
by the way; Isaiah was prophesying
  • 49:45 - 49:46
    that when the Messiah comes...
  • 49:46 - 49:48
In other words, the Messiah is
  • 49:48 - 49:49
going to be like a lamb that is
  • 49:49 - 49:52
led to be slaughtered for the sins
  • 49:52 - 49:54
of all of us, and He is not
  • 49:54 - 49:55
    going to complain.
  • 49:55 - 49:57
He is not going to open His mouth
  • 49:57 - 49:59
and say, "Oh, I don't want to do this.
  • 49:59 - 50:01
I don't want to be crucified."
  • 50:01 - 50:03
    He is going to suffer
  • 50:03 - 50:05
for the sake of the sins of the world.
  • 50:05 - 50:07
Now, probably people in the time
  • 50:07 - 50:09
of Isaiah, as we read earlier,
  • 50:09 - 50:11
    were sacrificing and killing animals,
  • 50:11 - 50:13
but many of them probably were
  • 50:13 - 50:15
doing that just as a ritual.
  • 50:15 - 50:17
Probably some of them had lost
  • 50:17 - 50:21
    the concept of sacrificial death
  • 50:21 - 50:22
that God was trying to teach them.
  • 50:22 - 50:24
But now, fast forward to the time
  • 50:24 - 50:28
    that Jesus actually showed up.
  • 50:28 - 50:31
How does John help us connect the dots
  • 50:31 - 50:32
    of all these prophecies
  • 50:32 - 50:34
    from the Hebrew Scripture
  • 50:34 - 50:35
    to this Person of Jesus?
  • 50:35 - 50:37
Let's go to John, chapter 1,
  • 50:37 - 50:39
verses 29 to 36, and let me ask
  • 50:39 - 50:41
    Zandile to read for us,
  • 50:41 - 50:44
    John, chapter 1, verses 29 to 36.
  • 50:44 - 50:45
    (Zandile) And I'll be reading
  • 50:45 - 50:48
from the New King James Version, 29:
  • 51:54 - 51:57
(Puia) Beautiful. There is no doubt
  • 51:57 - 51:59
in the mind of John the Baptist.
  • 51:59 - 52:01
He said, "I saw the Spirit descending
  • 52:01 - 52:03
upon Him, and I am testifying
  • 52:03 - 52:05
that this is the Son of God,
  • 52:05 - 52:11
and this is the Lamb of God
    who takes away..."?
  • 52:11 - 52:12
(Team) "...the sin of the world."
  • 52:12 - 52:14
(Puia) In other words, John is
  • 52:14 - 52:15
    basically telling all of us
  • 52:15 - 52:17
and all of the readers today
  • 52:17 - 52:22
that all the prophecies from Genesis,
  • 52:22 - 52:25
    that all the animal sacrifices,
  • 52:25 - 52:27
all the bulls that were sacrificed,
  • 52:27 - 52:29
all the lambs that were killed
  • 52:29 - 52:31
    for sacrificial atonement,
  • 52:31 - 52:35
were pointing forward to this one Person,
  • 52:35 - 52:36
    and His name is Jesus.
  • 52:36 - 52:39
And He is pointing to the Person of Jesus
  • 52:39 - 52:40
    and saying, "Behold!
  • 52:40 - 52:44
Here is the Lamb of God
  • 52:44 - 52:45
who is going to take away
  • 52:45 - 52:47
    the sin of the world."
  • 52:47 - 52:48
    This is beautiful.
  • 52:48 - 52:50
    In the Person of Jesus,
  • 52:50 - 52:53
    the entire prophecies are fulfilled.
  • 52:53 - 52:55
    (Derek) And I think, Puia,
  • 52:55 - 52:56
    it's really important, that wasn't
  • 52:56 - 52:58
    just John the Baptist's opinion.
  • 52:58 - 53:00

  • 53:13 - 53:15
Let's go to Revelation, towards the end
  • 53:15 - 53:17
    now, Revelation, chapter 4,
  • 53:17 - 53:19
verses 8 to 11, and I want to request
  • 53:19 - 53:21
    Joshua to read for us,
  • 53:21 - 53:23
    Revelation 4, verses 8 to 11.
  • 53:23 - 53:25
And let's see what the Apostle John
  • 53:25 - 53:27
has to say about this Lamb of God.
  • 53:27 - 53:29
    (Joshua) And I'll be reading
  • 53:29 - 53:31
from the New King James Version.
  • 53:31 - 53:32
    The Bible says:
  • 54:23 - 54:25
    (Puia) Amen. Thank you
  • 54:25 - 54:26
    for reading that, Joshua.
  • 54:26 - 54:28
    So, in Revelation, fast forward,
  • 54:28 - 54:30
    John the Apostle is seeing
  • 54:30 - 54:32
    this vision of Heaven.
  • 54:32 - 54:34
In Heaven, the four living creatures,
  • 54:34 - 54:36
    the twenty-four elders, and everyone
  • 54:36 - 54:40
    is bowing before this Lamb!
  • 54:40 - 54:44
And He is given the honor and the glory
  • 54:44 - 54:47
    because He created everything.

    Let's read one other verse,
  • 54:48 - 54:51
the next chapter, Revelation, chapter 5,
  • 54:51 - 54:53
verses 1 to 7; Kylynda, can you

Dear friend, thank you for joining us
  • 56:08 - 56:10
    today once again.
  • 56:10 - 56:12
As we see in this prophecy
  • 56:12 - 56:15
that John foresaw about the future,
  • 56:15 - 56:17
the heavenly throne, on the throne
  • 56:17 - 56:19
of the entire universe is sitting
  • 56:19 - 56:23
this Lamb of God, and He is worthy.
  • 56:23 - 56:25
You may be weeping; I may be weeping today
  • 56:25 - 56:27
    because of our struggles
  • 56:27 - 56:28
    and maybe because of sin,
  • 56:28 - 56:30
but according to John, "Don't weep.
  • 56:30 - 56:32
There is the Lamb, the Lamb of God,
  • 56:32 - 56:34
who takes away the sin of the world."
  • 56:34 - 56:35
And one day the promise is

that this Lamb of God is going
  • 56:37 - 56:39
to come again to redeem us,
