South part of Shinjuku, compared
to north part Shinjuku,

it's really quiet.

we can enjoy the beautiful train view as well.

so we will start the tour from here,
and we will come back later.

probably, it will get darker.

in nighttime, this place becomes more beautiful.

I will introduce good and cheap Japanese chain restaurant,

which you can eat less than $5 USD.

however the taste is pretty good too.

if you're using the express bus
or airport express bus,

Busta Shinjuku locates over here.

so just remember the South exit.

Express first terminal locates beside the department store.

so pretty much you can buy everything.

souvenir, Bento... Or even the sweets as well.

and this is the takashimaya Times Square.

the takashimaya is really popular department store in Japan.

they have one of the cleanest restroom in Shinjuku.

this is the second floor.

we gotta going down to the first floor.

since it's windy today feels much cooler.

as you guys know this year's Japan weather is totally weird.

yes it's much hotter compared to the usual Year.

my original plan was visting Nikko today

for watching the beautiful autumn leaves at the niiko.

however when I check the official website of them,

still it's not fully change the color yet,

which is totally weird.

because in the regular season, already, they change the color.

so that's why I Chang my plan.

and probably we'll visit there next
week or two weeks from now.

some part of Nikko already tree color has changed

but not in the main color.

so I think we'd better wait.

now we are heading to Shinjuku National garden areas

we turn right over here and keep straight.

it becomes the backstreet.

there is McDonald's.

and also capsule hotel too.

compared to the East part of Shinjuku,
it's not that convenient.

however, I believe price is cheaper.

haven't tried here, but seems like
the price is pretty good.

Ten hours 4,000 Japanese yen.

there is a free morning Curry.

and also the dinner as well.

after 5:00 p.m. really? it's all-you-can-drink alcohol.

seems like there is a nice artificial hot spring inside.

and also the capsule floor.

oh interesting.

but unfortunately it's only for men only though.

maybe if you want to save money you can try here.

for the backpackers, I think it would be a good option I believe.

so the first good and cheap restaurant,

located just over there at the corner,

which is really famous one in the world.

All right, here we go. We can see from here.

yes it's Yoshinoya.

Yoshinoya, needless to explain,

it's a good and cheap
beef bowl restaurant.

in Yoshinoya, you can eat the beef bowl
with only 500 Japanese Yen.

Thinking about 1 US dollar is about
153 Japanese yen right now...

even you can eat this omurice curry with beef, including tax,

it costs a little bit over $5 USD.

but thinking about the quality, it's pretty good.

if you spend $6 USD,

even you can have this sukiyaki set menu items.

probably it never happens in most of the countries.

the next restaurant we can see from here.

yes it locates just over there, Sukiya.

Sukiya is also a beef bowl restaurant.

it is not as popular as Yoshinoya

however it's pretty popular in Japan.

opens 24/7 as well.

if you come over here during the lunchtime,

you can this beef bowl set menu items

as cheap as 580 Japanese yen, which is less than $5 USD.

Sukiya also has the sukiyaki set menu items.

if you spend $6 USD, which is 890 Japanese Yen,

you can eat sukiyaki set menu items.

my recommendation is their cheese gyudon,

which is the beef bowl with cheese.

it comes with Tabasco.

so if you like something spicy,
you can always eat with Tabasco.

Tastes like, you know, pizza mixed with beef bowl.

If you like the pizza taste probably you will like it.

price is only 620 Japanese Yen.

if you order it, ask them for tsuyudaku,
which is the extra soup.

you can order it for free as well.

yes!

usually, those beef bowl restaurant,
you can add extra soup for free.

you can ask them, "Tsuyudaku de."

yes it is a magical word.

but also, IKEA... I recommend their food as well.

this is not the regular IKEA.

in the big city, they have a smaller version.

still, we have dining inside,
but it's much smaller.

after passing IKEA, Shinjuku
Gyoen is just over there.

Shinjuku Gyoen is a huge Park
located in center of Shinjuku.

it's a paid Park.

so compared to other regular
parks, it's a bit different.

it costs 500 Japanese yen to enter.

however if you are for 15 years old
and under, it will be free.

and if you have 60 years old and over,
it only costs 250 Japanese yen.

so is the student.

there are many people waiting in front of the ticket counter.

however if you have a train IC card,

you can use the train IC card, so that
you don't have to be in line.

I have an annual passport,
so it becomes free.

they're selling the annual pass
for 2,000 Japanese yen.

so if you come more than four times here in the year,

I recommend you to get the annual pass.

one thing we have to be careful...

most of the park in Japan,

it's a public place so you can drink alcohol.

but this kind of paid Park, you can't drink alcohol.

during Autumn season this place changed the color.

and it becomes beautiful.

however since this year, it was hot,

so still they hasn't changed the color yet.

some trees are changing color a little bit but not that much.

so we can come back in the future.

we came back to the corner of IKEA.

we are heading to North part of Shinjuku.

we are at Shinjuku-sanchome Station.

beside this station, Suehiro Dori/
Suehiro Street will start.

In this Suehiro street, it becomes the backstreet.

there are so many local drinking restaurants.

it's not like the less than $5 USD restaurants.

however compared to the other drinking place,

usually it's cheaper.

during the nighttime, there will be so
many locals drinking around here.

so it will be an interesting street for travelers too.

There is a rakugo house in the backstreet.

rakugo is a traditional entertainment in Japan.

it's a bit different.

but it's like you know standup comedy in other country.

we sit down though.

entrance fee costs 3,000 Japanese yen.

but if you don't understand Japanese,
it is a verbal entertainment

so probably you cannot enjoy it.

you can enjoy the traditional atmosphere though.

but maybe from the outside,

I think it's enough if you don't understand Japanese.

and drinking restaurants continues.

it's just too early time for this street.

so many store is closing.

let's go back to the main street.

and another good and cheap restaurant over here.

it's a small restaurant but a really popular one.

Fuji Soba opens 24 hours as well.

seems like they are having collab
with Ryu Ga Gotoku now.

you can eat the cutlet curry
with 680 Japanese yen,

which is less than $5 USD.

Also, the ramen, 530 Japanese Yen
and 580 Japanese Yen.

those of them even cheaper than $4 USD.

whenever I want to have a quick meal with cheaper price,

I usually come over to
Fuji Soba and eating soba.

to be honest the food quality is not that high.

but there are two big positive things

one, price is really cheap.

and two, they serve it really quick.

if you order soba, you know, they can
serve less than a minute.

so if you want to have a quick meal,

definitely this place is recommended.

you can eat plain soba with only 420 Japanese Yen.

so let's go to the next spot

by the way...

there is another Fuji Soba.

yes there are so many Fuji Soba in Tokyo.

now we are at one of the main street of Shinjuku.

if we keep straight we enter to the Kabukicho

beside this street, there is a shrine,
Hanazono Jinja.

it's located in Shinjuku.

right next to the Shinjuku-sanchome
Golden Gai/Golden Street.

Golden Street is very interesting spot to visit.

but also, this Hanazono Shrine,
during the festival time,

it becomes really interesting as well.

so don't forget to visit here too.

all right so let's go back to the main street.

next to the shine,

there is one of my favorite
restaurants, Bikkuri Donkey,

which is a hamburg steak chain restaurant

compared to less than $5 USD
restaurants, it's a bit expensive.

however if you like Hamburg steak,

and also ready to spend money a little bit more,

definitely this Bikkuri Donkey restaurant, I recommend.

when you see this corner you can just turn right.

the Golden Street entrance is just over there.

in this street there are many tiny drinking restaurants.

so for travelers it is very very interesting spot.

now it's very quiet.

however when it becomes nighttime,

this Place becomes so many people.

maybe not visiting here with kids.

but uh one of the interesting spot in Shinjuku like kabukicho.

that street called Golden Gai.

"Gai" means usually "town." But in
that case, it means "street."

and here another less than $5 restaurant, Saizeriya.

it's a Japanese Italian restaurant.

their Doria with meat sauce only 300 Japanese yen.

and the small regular pizza it's 400 Japanese yen.

to be honest, if you just only order
this Doria. it's not enough.

but if you order even this doria and pizza, 700 Japanese yen

so it's almost $5 USD.

they have a pasta too.

this shrimp with spicy cod roe
sauce, 540 Japanese yen.

and mushroom with spinach cream
sauce, 600 Japanese yen.

They also have hamburg steak,
only 400 Japanese yen.

of course compared to the Bikkuri
Donkey quality, it's different.

however the price is totally different too.

one thing you have to be careful,

since it's pretty good and cheap,

so always crowded and noisy,

especially in this Shinjuku Station's place.

so if you want to eat quietly,

definitely this is not the place to come though.

but it's the chain restaurant.

if you visit in the quiet town,

some Saizeriya much fewer people,
and also, quiet as well.

so in that place I recommend

But maybe not in the crowded place though.

now we are getting closer to the
entrance of Kabukicho Godzilla Street.

so there are more and more people on the street.

Don Quijote is over here.

after turn right on this corner there's Kabukicho.

here we go.

we are at Godzilla Central Street.

there is a good and cheap restaurant in Kabukicho too.

let me introduce.

but it's my favorite restaurant too

I especially like this sara udon.

there is crispy Noodle and so many veggies on top.

price is 850 Japanese yen.

it's the chain restaurant

you can find in many places.

yep one of my favorite restaurant

next to ringer hut, there is Gindako.

the regular takoyaki is 580 Japanese yen.

it's pretty good too.

compared to Osaka takoyaki, it's a little bit crispy.

a bit different but it tastes pretty good too.

now we are at toyoko.

Kabukicho Tower is just over there.

this place used to be a very chaotic place.

but now it becomes much cleaner.

let's walk to the Kabukicho Tower.

since it's a weekday,

and there are not that many people on the street

so probably Kabukicho Tower really few people inside I believe.

there's a Starbucks in front of Kabukicho tower.

usually many people sitting down over here

and drinking Starbucks.

but uh today not that many people over here though.

it getting cold so maybe that's the reason why.

in the warm day, it was a perfect spot to take a rest though.

they usually have many different kinds of event on the weekend.

but today since it's a week day,

probably no event is going on.

oh actually there are more people than I thought.

when I come over here during September,

there were really fewer people.

but seems like today still there are Travelers over here

even on the weekday

how about in the second floor?

in the second floor there is a nice game center.

so many claw machines with games

since we don't have a casino in Japan,

so this game center is like the you know Casino entertainment spot

oh wait. now it becomes Pokémon.

and also Dragon Ball Shenron.

and tenshinhan (crab omelette
rice), 528 Japanese yen.

Motsu yasai ramen... It's limited one.

mix this soup...

Usually, intestine has an organ smell.

however, inside this noodle,
it doesn't taste smelly at all.

So, the intestine with the organ smell,
I don't really like it.

but without organ smell,
this chewy intestine, lovin' it.

Especially, perfect with beer.

to be honest, if you just ate the
chahan, which is the fried rice,

or dumpling, gyoza,

I recommend you to try Osho,
which is a different chain restaurant.

however, that spicy intestine ramen with fried rice,

definitely I recommend. it's spicy though.

if you love intestine, which is motsu,

definitely you can try.

by the way, "intestine" in Japanese called "motsu."

so now let's go to the next spot.

we are in front of Yunika Vision.

this is one of the signature spot in Shinjuku.

we are heading to the
underground in Subnade.

you can just going downstairs.

by the way, this is the place in front
of Kabukicho Ichibangai's entrance.

oh my goodness...
It's so crowded as always

it's one of the picture spot.

but also, it's a small street,
so that's why.

so let's going down to
the underground town.

In the underground it is the Subnade.

there are several restaurants
that I recommend.

the first one, it's Tonkatsu Wako.
Deep fried pork cutlet.

Speaking of the price,
it's more than $5 USD.

however, thinking about the quality,
definitely, it's worth it.

For example, this dish comes with menchi
katsu, deep fried shrimp, eggplant...

And also, the pork cutlet.

Chawanmushi, which is a
Japanese style pudding.

Pickled veggie, sweets, rice,
and miso soup.

Rice and miso soup, and cabbage—
all you can eat.

Price is only 1,680 Japanese yen.

this big pork cutlet with radish, daikon
oroshi, 1,980 Japanese yen, too.

Compared to the fast food restaurant,
food quality is different.

so thinking about the price and quality,
I definitely recommend this restaurant.

also, behind that restaurant...

There is Negishi, which is a
beef tongue restaurant.

set menu items is about 1,500 to 2,000 Japanese yen.

however the quality is pretty good too.

the rice is a bit different.

it's mugi meshi, barley rice.

Comes with yam, so you can
mix this yam with this rice.

tastes pretty good.

it's healthy too.

so if you like beef tongue, I recommend
this restaurant as well.

let's go to the upstairs.

Already, outside gets pretty dark

we are heading to West part of Shinjuku now.

Haha...

This spot also so iconic spot of Shinjuku.

after cross this train track,
next spot is over there.

so the next restaurant is Matsuya.

it's also one of the really popular beef bowl restaurants.

beef ball is only 430 Japanese yen.

if you eat inside, it comes
with miso soup.

but my recommendation is curry.

thinking about it's beef bowl restaurant,
their Curry tastes pretty good.

and so is the hamburger steak.

so this hamburger steak Curry I recommend

recently they serve the beef bowl with cheese.

however I think Sukiya is better.

so if you want to eat the beef bowl
with cheese, just go to Sukiya.

it's just different.

next to Matsuya, there Omoide Street,
which is a really popular touristic spot.

nice retro Street continues.

but compared to the backstreet,

this Omoide Yokocho is more like,
you know, spot for travelers.

so the atmosphere is a
bit different though.

next to Omoide Yokocho, there are
many discounted ticket store.

I had the question,
where to change the currency?

well definitely it's not the airport.

Because usually their commission fee is more expensive.

usually, those discounted ticket store
has the better exchange rate.

so, if you find those discounted
ticket store, you can change.

they usually accept most of the major currency.

so maybe you can try to check their rate.

most of the place have better rate compared to the airport.

it gets darker so more and
more people on the street.

now we at West part of Shinjuku.

they are renewing the West part of Shinjuku.

now still the street is super packed.

but after renewed it it will be much better.

they are building the new Street on top.

and now we can see the complete street over here too.

that street continues to the Shinjuku station

after they finish the construction,

this west side of Shinjuku will be really
spacy spot for the pedestrians.

it will be totally different so I really look forward to it

sweet.

I have two more restaurants
that I want to introduce

in west part of Shinjuku.

Compared to North part of Shinjuku,
West part of Shinjuku, more quiet.

in West part of Shinjuku,
there is a Yodobashi Camera,

which is the really popular electric
appliance store in Japan

in front of Yodobashi Camera, there are
so many gachapon machines.

if you love gachapon, yes, this is
a place that you can come.

so the restaurant is behind this street.

it's the street on Gigo Game Center.

There are so many salarymen works
in Shinjuku west side.

so there are so many drinking place as well in this street.

wait supposed to be around here.

let me see.

sorry it's the next street.

oh yeah, supposed to be the street next to it.

so we need to turn right on the corner.

oh there's another Hidakaya

and yeah must be here.

all right here we go. this is the place.

so this place called Shinpachi Shokudo.

they have nice Japanese food with fish.

All the fish comes with rice
and miso soup.

thinking about the quality and price,
one of the best.

and the best point:

If you order teishoku, you can order
the beer with 150 Japanese yen.

for the second one, also 150 Japanese yen, too.

My recommendation is salmon hara teishoku,
salmon belly teishoku.

Comes with rice and miso soup.

Order with beer.

Yep. That would be the perfect menu
if you want to eat the lunch by yourself.

speaking of Shinpachi Shokudo,

recently, it gets really popular.

And we have so many Shinpachi
Shokudo in many places.

Even in shinuk too.

in other stations as well.

so if you like the grilled fish teishoku,
definitely I recommend.

Especially if you drink beer.

Thinking about the price, eventually,
it become cheaper, so... Good place.

and the next spot is just over there.

yes! it's right over there.

it's the tonkatsu restaurant, Katsuya.

their cutlet bowl is only 590 Japanese yen.

however I recommend the katsu curry,
which is the curry with pork cutlet.

it only cost 730 Japanese yen.

compared to Wako, which is that
expensive pork cutlet restaurant,

of course, the quality is different.

however thinking about the price,
definitely I recommend.

for me, whenever I want eat quietly
with my friend in the restaurant,

I always use Wako.

but whenever I make the
to-go food for the pork cutlet,

I use Katsuya, especially
for the cutlet curry.

if you want to save money and
you want to make it to-go,

maybe you want to bring back to
the hotel because you are tired,

maybe you can use this Katsuya to-go.

yes definitely I recommend

so we are almost at South exit of Shinjuku station.

it's almost the rush hour time,

so this Shinjuku station is
getting crowded as always.

usually in the street there are many street performers.

but seems like still no one has started yet.

this is the south gate of Shinjuku station.

we were at the new South Gate of Shinjuku station.

it is different so just be careful.

South Gate is over there .

but New South Gate is over there.

the penguin square is just behind this building.

we came back to this square.

this is the place we started filming.

Shin-Minamiguchi, New South Gate.

if you visting this Penguin square.

the South part of Shinjuku, more quiet.

also the night scenery is beautiful, too

eat less than 500 Japanese yen too

speaking of Japanese Yen situation,

as of 6 of November, I think it's because
of the election of United States,

right now, it's about $1 USD is 154 Japanese yen.

yes Japanese Yen gets cheaper and I'm happy.

but of course there are really depends

some industry will have the negative
impact if Japanese Y is cheaper

but as you may realize, Japanese food
and stuff right now, it's really cheap.

well some Travelers says
it's ridiculously cheap.

it's a good thing.

but at the same time we have to think about it...

if the food is cheap that means there are
so many people working for it

with very thin profit.

because of the cultural thing in Japan,
the inflation didn't come to Japan.

so many other countries' price gets increased

but in Japan just tiny.

well it can be a good thing but one serious

problem is that our average salary is

not increasing neither well you know

because the food doesn't increase so the

salary doesn't increase neither but

after Japanese Yen get cheaper finally

there are some inflations coming to

Japan well so I'm not sure if you

remember or not but uh whenever I talk

about the inflation in Japan I was a

little bit happy to hear that of course

you know if I can eat the food with

cheap price it's good but thinking about

Japanese economy and behind the people

working for the them profit definitely

it's not that good for this 20 years

compared to the other country Japanese

people's salary doesn't increase at all

like you know the United States people's

average salary is just climbing up but

Japanese economy is like this so I

believe and I hope this inflation thing

it's good for Japanese people that's

also the reason why I'm super happy that

Japanese Yen gets cheaper also

definitely we can have more Travelers

and if Travelers can enjoy Japan too

that's also the reason well it became a

little bit longer but that's how I feel

about Japanese young situation it's 6th

of November however in the states it's

not six of November yet so still there

is a president election is going on I'm

not sure which candidate will win but

hopefully we can have a peaceful world

so that we can travel and enjoy the life
