-
If the messages you are hearing only seem to highlight God’s love for sinners
-
but not God’s hatred for sin, be careful.
-
If the teaching you are receiving focuses more on material prosperity
-
than spiritual prosperity, be careful.
-
If the sermons being preached give so much attention to God’s promises
-
without talking about your obedience, be careful.
-
Some of you may wonder with what I’m saying,
-
‘Brother Chris, you’re talking about prosperity - prosperity gospel.
-
Are you saying that God does not want me to prosper, to be blessed, to thrive, to excel?’
-
No, don’t misquote me.
-
I'm not saying God cannot prosper you.
-
I’m saying our focus should not be on material prosperity
-
at the expense of spiritual prosperity.
-
Take note of this - God’s promise of abundance is not a licence for extravagance.
-
God’s promise of abundance is not a licence for flamboyance.
-
Let's talk about extravagant giving, not extravagant living.
-
If God prospers you, He has equipped you to bless others.
-
Let us be careful, people of God.
-
Misplaced expectation sets us up for disappointment.
-
If you come to God with an expectation
-
that is solely focused on material prosperity,
-
you will easily set yourself up for disappointment.
-
Because even if material prosperity comes,
-
man’s wants are unlimited.
-
God has promised to meet us according to our needs, not our wants.
-
There is no limit to what man wants.
-
Every stage you reach in material achievement,
-
there's always a higher level to reach for.
-
If that is the basis upon which you view life, you will never be content.
-
I'm not saying God cannot prosper you, bless you abundantly.
-
It's not a licence for extravagance.
-
No! It's a licence for extravagant giving, not extravagant living.
