Do we need to be Sikh to reach God? St Georges uni Q&A #2

  • Not Synced
    Let's apply the same principle
    with a doctor.
  • Not Synced
You can get better from other doctors.
  • Not Synced
But other doctor has to prescribe
    a similar sort of medicine.
  • Not Synced
    There's even different medicines
    to do the same thing.
  • Not Synced
But they must go through this system.
  • Not Synced
They must understand that the main
diagnosis is that we are human
  • Not Synced
and we are here to meet God.
  • Not Synced
    If somebody gives you
    a different diagnosis
  • Not Synced
then you've gone to the wrong Guru.
  • Not Synced
Then the solution must be holistic
  • Not Synced
and it must be about Naam,
    about connection.
  • Not Synced
    Maharaj says:
  • Not Synced
No one can get Mukti without Naam.
  • Not Synced
So let's say in those days
    Kabir Ji was a Guru.
  • Not Synced
Kabir is in Guru Granth Sahib ji.
  • Not Synced
    Kabir ji was saying:
    "You should do Jap Naam".
  • Not Synced
Kabir ji was saying something very ego:
  • Not Synced
    Say God's name.
  • Not Synced
Oh my mind, say God's name.
  • Not Synced
    So he's saying the same
    medicine as our Guru.
  • Not Synced
    He's just a different doctor,
  • Not Synced
and Maharaj took all this doctors that
were speaking the same truth as them
  • Not Synced
and they put them in Guru Granth Sahib ji.
  • Not Synced
They go: "Hey man, you don't have to be
any religion, you got to follow this path".
  • Not Synced
Sikhi therefore is not a religion.
Sikhi is a path of Enlightenment.
  • Not Synced
And is a path of spiritual health
    and happiness as well.
  • Not Synced
    Spiritual, physical, social health.
  • Not Synced
It doesn't metter what doctor you go to,
  • Not Synced
    if he prescribes something different
from the ... our Guru is talking about,
  • Not Synced
    he's not really prescribing
    the full medicine.
  • Not Synced
Not everybody has to get fully well.
  • Not Synced
    Muslims do believe in Naam.
  • Not Synced
    They had a Tasbeeh.
    They meditate upon God's name.
  • Not Synced
They're not in our names of Allah.
  • Not Synced
    They do Sifat al-Saah,
    which mean praise and prayer.
  • Not Synced
    They do those things.
  • Not Synced
    Thus Muslims can get Mukti,
    Hindus can get Mukti,
  • Not Synced
    Buddhist—whatever they can get Mukti.
  • Not Synced
But they must call upon God.
  • Not Synced
    They must do Naam
    —and connect to the One.
  • Not Synced
    And break their Ego.
  • Not Synced
If you are a Hindu that
    does not do this things
  • Not Synced
—let's say you are a Hindu
    that believes in idol worship
  • Not Synced
    and you are watching it
  • Not Synced
and our religion consists of going
on Sunday—or whatever day you choose,
  • Not Synced
    on Tuesday not eating meat,
  • Not Synced
on Sunday going to a Mandir, taking some
milk and putting it all over the idol.
  • Not Synced
You are not going to get Mukti.
  • Not Synced
    Do you agree?
  • Not Synced
    Because your aim was
    to connect to God,
  • Not Synced
    and you didn't connect
and you didn't focus upon the One.
  • Not Synced
You started to focus upon stone,
there's no God in a stone.
  • Not Synced
And you stated to focus upon
Devi Devte and they are not the One.
  • Not Synced
So, a Sikh is trying to teach
    the medicine of the doctor,
  • Not Synced
and if he find somebody else
    on the same path,
  • Not Synced
    but from a different doctor,
    they're happy!
  • Not Synced
They go: "This guy is on the mend as well.
  • Not Synced
He's like me, he has got
a different doctor but we're cool.
  • Not Synced
    We're starting to get better".
  • Not Synced
    But when they meet
    somebody who's not well,
  • Not Synced
who's not trying to get better, they go:
"Oh dear, bechara, no doctor hega.
  • Not Synced
    He's got no Guru.
  • Not Synced
    Maharaj says:
  • Not Synced
The One who hasn't got a Guru,
  • Not Synced
    his name itself is horrible,
    don't even say his name.
  • Not Synced
That's why if you read Bani,
  • Not Synced
    Maharaj says a Manmukh
    —Manmukh is the worst person.
  • Not Synced
    Because the Manmukh has got
no teacher, has got no doctor.
  • Not Synced
    Manmukh says:
    "I'm gonna make myself better".
  • Not Synced
How can you make yourself better?
  • Not Synced
Even if you study the other people,
  • Not Synced
    you will still end up
    researching on Google,
  • Not Synced
    finding some doctor that
    you sort of agree with,
  • Not Synced
    and you'd be following him.
  • Not Synced
    Even if you haven't said:
    "I am your student"
  • Not Synced
    —effectively you are.
  • Not Synced
You can't just make up the solutions
    by yourself sitting at home.
  • Not Synced
    That's supreme Ego—it's supreme Pride.
  • Not Synced
You refuse to accept that somebody
else has got there before you.
  • Not Synced
—and knows how to get better.
  • Not Synced
    You refuse to accept that
so you start from the scratch.
  • Not Synced
    The supreme Ego that is.
  • Not Synced
    Better to say: "Somebody must
    have got better before me,
  • Not Synced
let me go and learn from
    that person. Get better".
  • Not Synced
    So we should be trying
    to get people better, Bhenji.
  • Not Synced
    It's not about competing
—is about saying: "Let's get better".
  • Not Synced
We can all get better and
if you all did get better Bhenji,
  • Not Synced
    then inequality in this world
    will get better.
  • Not Synced
There would be a better place to live,
    if you all got better.
  • Not Synced
And there's a quote from Bani
that will prove that to you.
  • Not Synced
    Guru ji says:
  • Not Synced
Says Waheguru: "The world is burning".
jagat = world, jalandaa = is burning.
  • Not Synced
Give it your grace, and save the world.
  • Not Synced
    What do they say next?
  • Not Synced
Whichever way it can be saved,
    saved it that way.
  • Not Synced
So somebody can be saved by following
the true Islam of submission to God
  • Not Synced
    and following the Hukam and
    saying God's name, brilliant.
  • Not Synced
Some can be saved to Hinduism,
  • Not Synced
the bits that are not idol
    worship or stuff, brilliant.
  • Not Synced
    That's what we want
    —let the world get saved.
  • Not Synced
We are not about that kind of preaching
    —only our way.
  • Not Synced
    We're inclusive not exclusive.
