Why can’t you attain peace through worldly pleasures? by Harman Singh
-
0:05 - 0:07What is the true form of bliss?
-
0:06 - 0:09If we are trying to find happiness
in life, if that is the purpose. -
0:09 - 0:14Then can't we find happiness through our
desires of eating food? -
0:14 - 0:18Attaining money,
showing off to the world? -
0:18 - 0:20Whatever it may be.
-
0:25 - 0:27Is that not enough?
-
0:27 - 0:28If the goal is to attain peace.
-
0:29 - 0:29Well guess what.
-
0:29 - 0:33I attain lots of peace after pursuing my lust.
-
0:33 - 0:37I ha've attained lots of happiness after
pursuing my greed. -
0:37 - 0:42If that goal is happiness then why can
I just not attain it through the world? -
0:42 - 0:44Because attain.
I see so much happiness. -
0:44 - 0:50But do not forget that that ras
what you say is very temporary. -
0:50 - 0:54It is like a safflower, the colour seems
great but it is actually not there. -
0:55 - 0:58It is like a deer
that is running down the road. -
0:58 - 1:01It sees a pool of water.
-
1:01 - 1:04But when it runs to that water,
the water seems even farther away. -
1:04 - 1:05You may have experienced this.
-
1:05 - 1:08You may be driving down
the road on a sunny day. -
1:08 - 1:10It seems like there is
water down the road. -
1:10 - 1:13The reality is the water
is not actually there. -
1:13 - 1:15It seems like an illusion.
-
1:15 - 1:18So that anand which you are
pursuing is a little heavenly. -
1:15 - 1:20is a little heavenly
-
1:20 - 1:25Because any time you pursue that type of
Anand it does not last forever. -
1:25 - 1:29It is temporary it gives you the illusion
of Sukh, but it actually gives you Dukh. -
1:30 - 1:32You eat food Pyreyo.
-
1:32 - 1:34Once you eat this food.
-
1:34 - 1:36Just moment later the
food will start to digest. -
1:36 - 1:38And you will start to
feeling hungry again. -
1:38 - 1:40That is the reality.
-
1:40 - 1:42You go and enjoy a movie.
-
1:42 - 1:45But that enjoyment of a movie will not
last forever. -
1:46 - 1:51You go and enjoy a song but that
enjoyment will not last forever. -
1:51 - 1:58Because you go back
and Dukh attacks you after. -
1:56 - 1:59At one time you were happy and then
sadness follows. -
2:01 - 2:05These are like two clothes.
You switch them on and off. -
2:05 - 2:08Sometimes you go soaring into the skyes.
-
2:14 - 2:18Your mind is so greedy that
what it is trying to acquire. -
2:16 - 2:20To soak the happiness,
acquiring it in the wrong way. -
2:20 - 2:22Because it is so ‘chanchal’.
-
2:22 - 2:24Because it is so wavering.
-
2:24 - 2:27It cannot find its true happiness
anywhere. -
2:28 - 2:31There are two people.
An Agyani and Brahmgyani. -
2:30 - 2:39The Brahm Gyani says that
"I want to acquire peace and happiness" -
2:39 - 2:42Brahm Gyani means the person
who is enlightened. -
2:42 - 2:44The person that has experienced parmatma.
-
2:45 - 2:47Through each and every atom of
this unverse. -
2:47 - 2:50Within each and every hair follicle
of their entire body. -
2:50 - 2:52They are hearing similar and
all they see is Brahm. -
2:52 - 2:54They see a paramatma everywhere.
-
2:54 - 2:59That Brahm Giyani is saying that
I want to experience Anand. -
3:00 - 3:03And the Agyani, the person
that is living their life in ignorance. -
3:03 - 3:06Going after the flavoUrs of the world,
the tastes of the world. -
3:06 - 3:10They are sitting and saying they want
to experience Anand. -
3:10 - 3:13They want to experience bliss
and happiness as well. -
3:13 - 3:16They both go do the same action.
-
3:16 - 3:19They eat a plate of food.
-
3:19 - 3:22When they go to eat this plate of food,
they are Agyani. -
3:22 - 3:23The one living in ignorance.
-
3:23 - 3:26Not experiencing God instead seeing the
duality of the world. -
3:27 - 3:28He feels hunger.
-
3:28 - 3:31This desire and this hunger is
driving this person mad. -
3:29 - 3:33He goes to eat the food.
-
3:33 - 3:36He is saying that the food
will make me content. -
3:36 - 3:40It will fulfill my desire
to fulfill my needs. -
3:40 - 3:43Once he eats the food,
his stomach is filled. -
3:43 - 3:45He says “wah”.
-
3:45 - 3:47Anand aa geya..
-
3:47 - 3:48Keep these words in mind.
-
3:48 - 3:49He says
“Anand aa geya”. -
3:50 - 3:51But moments later.
-
3:51 - 3:55An hour later, two hours later,
He is starting to feel hunger again. -
3:55 - 3:59Because he does not realize
where ananda comes from. -
3:59 - 4:03He placed Anand coming
from the food. -
4:03 - 4:08So next time he is in need of Anand,
of happiness, he will go after food. -
4:06 - 4:11Whether it will be spicy food next time.
-
4:11 - 4:14Whether it will be
sweet food, cheesy food. -
4:17 - 4:19Going after many many
different types of food. -
4:19 - 4:21Growing the taste
of the tongue. -
4:25 - 4:27Going after all of these food.
-
4:27 - 4:34Going after sweetness, bitter, tasty
savoury foods. -
4:34 - 4:36He's saying that
this food that I ate. -
4:36 - 4:37Even though it
fulfilled my hunger. -
4:37 - 4:40Now the desires of the fickle mind.
-
4:40 - 4:43The mind is saying that you
do not just want food anymore. -
4:43 - 4:46No! You want spicy food,
no, you want sweet food. -
4:46 - 4:49You know the how the rest goes.
-
4:49 - 4:51Then there's the Brahmgian Pyareo.
-
4:51 - 4:54He is eating food,
he does the exact same task. -
4:54 - 4:58Do not think that the Brahm Gyani’s
actions are any different -
4:58 - 5:01to the actions of a person
living in ignorance. -
5:01 - 5:04That person that will be living
in this world will be exact same. -
5:04 - 5:06Sometimes you may not
even be able to notice. -
5:06 - 5:08That this person is
experiencing the Anand. -
5:08 - 5:14This Brahm Gyani,
he sits and eats the food. -
5:11 - 5:16Once the food is eaten
he feel content. -
5:16 - 5:19He says the same words.
Wah, anand aa geya. -
5:24 - 5:27But when he starts feeling hunger
moments later. -
5:27 - 5:31Once the food starts to digest
his contentments is not lost. -
5:31 - 5:37Why? Because he did not place
the source of Anand. -
5:34 - 5:40The source of happiness
of contentment inside the food itself. -
5:41 - 5:42Pyaareyo this is how it works.
-
5:42 - 5:45When your mind is after a desire.
-
5:47 - 5:51When your mind is after a desire
your mind is wavering. -
5:51 - 5:56It is trying to chase after something
it is trying to find something. -
5:56 - 6:02Once it finds what is acquiring your mind
becomes still for just a split second. -
6:01 - 6:07In that split moment
you do not look around. -
6:07 - 6:09Your five senses
are not looking around. -
6:09 - 6:11It does not matter what you are hearing.
-
6:11 - 6:14What you are seeing.
What you are feeling. -
6:14 - 6:20For that split millisecond, may it be,
your mind becomes still. -
6:20 - 6:21The rays of Akaal Purakh.
-
6:21 - 6:24Just like the sun is shining,
through and out this entire world. -
6:24 - 6:31Even Agyani through contentment may feel
a little bit of the rays of that sun. -
6:31 - 6:35Because he has become
desireless for a split second. -
6:35 - 6:39He has become completely Nishkaam.
-
6:39 - 6:43The truth is since the moment
we were born, -
6:43 - 6:45we have not become desireless.
-
6:53 - 6:56The moment you were born you
started crying. -
6:56 - 6:58For the milk of your mother.
-
6:58 - 7:01That desire grew to playing with your mum
and dad. -
7:00 - 7:05To eating lots of food.
-
7:01 - 7:03To playing with your brothers and sisters
-
7:05 - 7:09Than that grew to Kaam
then it grew to greed. -
7:08 - 7:12This desire does not end
just like numbers do not end. -
7:12 - 7:16The desire in this mind of yours
will never end. -
7:16 - 7:19If you place your hopes in the false
this false world, Pyareyo. -
7:20 - 7:25The Brahm Gyani that is eating that food.
-
7:23 - 7:26He says “Anand aa gaya”.
-
7:26 - 7:29Because he knows that my mind
has now become still. -
7:29 - 7:34He felt content and the
light of Akaal Purakh is shing through. -
7:34 - 7:36He keeps his mind in Anand.
-
7:36 - 7:38Because knows that the Anand
was not coming from the food. -
7:38 - 7:41It comes from my mind becoming still.
-
7:41 - 7:45It is Abhiaasi Brahm Gyani who
is always able to keep their mind still. -
7:45 - 7:46Completely desireless.
-
7:46 - 7:49That is what a Brahm Gyani is.
-
7:54 - 7:57What else,
what other desire does he have? -
7:57 - 8:00What other desire would he have?
-
8:00 - 8:04If that Hari da Jan has become
the form of Akaal Purakh -
8:04 - 8:07and there is no difference
between that Guru da Sevak -
8:07 - 8:09and Akaal Purakh themselves,
-
8:09 - 8:11then that person must be
desirelss, right? -
8:11 - 8:15But no they say that that person
still has desire. -
8:15 - 8:17They say God is not desireless.
-
8:17 - 8:19Somebody said what do you mean
God is not desireless. -
8:19 - 8:22They say God is very hungry.
-
8:21 - 8:24They say what do you mean God is hungry?
-
8:24 - 8:26God is the creator of the universe.
-
8:25 - 8:28God cannot be hungry for anything.
-
8:28 - 8:31Bhai Gurdaas Ji says
“No God is hungry." -
8:31 - 8:33They say
“What is God hungry for?” -
8:33 - 8:34The say
-
8:37 - 8:41What is Akaal Purakh hungry for ?
-
8:41 - 8:44He is hungry for Prema Bhagti.
-
8:48 - 8:52Akaal Purakh created this universe
as a Dharam Sala. -
8:52 - 8:55To be able to sit
in this Dharam Sala -
8:55 - 8:58and experience the Akaal Purakh.
-
8:58 - 9:03For the love of their Bhagats
Akaal Purakh created the Sari Sristi. -
9:03 - 9:04Saari Kherd
-
9:04 - 9:07Because he is hungry for Prem,
hungry for love. -
9:15 - 9:18That person that has
drenched their entire life. -
9:18 - 9:22Just like we take clothes
and the dyer puts it into the water. -
9:22 - 9:25The clothes are pulled out
and whatever the water smelled like -
9:25 - 9:29whether it smelled like fragrance
like jasmine -
9:29 - 9:31whether it smelled like
sandalwood -
9:31 - 9:35Whatever color that water was, the
clothes has now died in that color. -
9:34 - 9:36That same way.
-
9:38 - 9:40Those that are completely
drenched -
9:40 - 9:43and imbued in that
colour of Akaal Purakh. -
9:44 - 9:46Their life is blessed.
-
9:46 - 9:48Them coming in this world is blessed.
-
9:48 - 9:50Because they filled the purpose of
Akaal Purakh. -
10:02 - 10:07The world says that I am having a social life.
-
10:07 - 10:08But the guru says
-
10:10 - 10:14This is all false that go back to the
example of Brahm Gyani. -
10:14 - 10:20Brahm Gyani is the food
now when the food. -
10:17 - 10:22Brahmagyani is now hungry again
whether food is on his plate or it is not. -
10:22 - 10:27The Brahm Gyani will
always stay in Anand. -
10:27 - 10:31Because the food was
not the source of Anand. -
11:07 - 11:10guru
