উত্তর দিনাজপুর জেলার কালিয়াগঞ্জ ব্লকের বরুনা পঞ্চায়েতের জঙ্গল পাড়া থেকে পঞ্চায়েত অফিস পর্যন্ত ৪.১৮০ কিমি দীর্ঘ রাস্তাটি বহু বছর ধরে ছিল বেহাল ও চলাচলের অযোগ্য। এই রাস্তাই ছিল ছয়টি গ্রামের প্রায় ১০,০০০ মানুষের একমাত্র যাতায়াত পথ। বর্ষার সময় কাদামাখা এই রাস্তায় চলাফেরা করাটা হয়ে উঠত অত্যন্ত কষ্টসাধ্য—স্কুল, বাজার, হাসপাতাল, সব জায়গাতেই পৌঁছাতে হতো চরম দুর্ভোগ পেরিয়ে।

দীর্ঘ আন্দোলন ও দাবির পর, পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের 'পথশ্রী' প্রকল্পের আওতায় প্রায় ১৩.৭৯ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে রাস্তাটি পাকা করা হয়েছে। এখন রাস্তাটি পিচ দিয়ে তৈরি, মসৃণ ও যাতায়াত উপযোগী। এর ফলে স্থানীয়দের দৈনন্দিন জীবনযাত্রা অনেকটাই সহজ হয়েছে এবং যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থায় এসেছে দৃশ্যমান পরিবর্তন।

For years, the 4.180-kilometer stretch of road connecting Jungle Para to the Panchayat office in Baruna Panchayat, Kaliaganj Block, Uttar Dinajpur district, remained in a dilapidated state. This road served as the only means of commute for nearly 10,000 residents across six villages. Especially during the monsoon season, the muddy and broken path made travel to schools, markets, and hospitals a daily ordeal.

Following prolonged demands from the local population, the road has now been transformed under the West Bengal Government’s ‘Pathashree’ scheme. With an investment of approximately ₹13.79 crore, the once treacherous road is now fully paved. This development has significantly improved the quality of life for local residents and brought a major boost to rural connectivity.
