EU's Oettinger: Libyan oil fields no longer under Gaddafi's control
-
0:01 - 0:05The exports of oil and gas from Libya...
-
0:05 - 0:09...for the European market are not inconsiderable.
-
0:09 - 0:14But they are also not so large.
-
0:14 - 0:21Libyan gas towards the EU... less than 3% of the total gas market.
-
0:21 - 0:26Oil from Libya to the EU... barely 10 percent...
-
0:26 - 0:32At this time, since a few days, we are observing that...
-
0:32 - 0:37...the production stopped - experts are missing...
-
0:37 - 0:45But since this morning we hear that oil and gas production is being taken up again.
-
0:45 - 0:50So then why not an oil embargo as sanction?
-
0:50 - 0:58We have reason to believe...
-
0:58 - 1:05...that the majority of the working oil and gas fields...
-
1:05 - 1:08...no longer are under the control of Gadaffi.
-
1:08 - 1:17But the ownership is now with regional tribes...
-
1:17 - 1:24...families, or regional tentative leaderships...
-
1:24 - 1:31...who have taken over the power from Gadaffi.
-
1:31 - 1:36It would be a wrong sign if we were to...
-
1:36 - 1:40...punish the wrong parties.
-
1:40 - 1:47...by imposing an import stop, without a concrete regional consideration....
-
1:47 - 1:50We would punish those that are on the right track.
