0:26 - 0:29Once upon a time, high in the highest tower

0:29 - 0:34of the far away city of Glicken Glocken,
there was a wonderful clock. -
0:34 - 0:38The numbers on its face were inlaid
with precious jewels, -
0:38 - 0:40and its hands were carved of purest ivory.

0:41 - 0:43And to mark every hour,
-
0:43 - 0:49one silver cock crowed,
-
0:51 - 0:58two brass trumpeteers came out and played,
-
0:59 - 1:03and a little golden angel sang.

1:03 - 1:07♪ Dawn is here. Time won't wait. ♪
-
1:07 - 1:11♪ The sun is rising in the heaven. ♪

1:11 - 1:15♪ Start the day. Be not late. ♪
-
1:15 - 1:21♪ The hour is seven It is seven. ♪

1:22 - 1:26The people of Glicken Glocken were
very proud of their wonderful clock, -
1:26 - 1:32so proud were they that no one in the city
had a clock or watch of his own. -
1:36 - 1:40Across the river from Glicken Glocken,
stood the ugly city of Dumberg. -
1:40 - 1:45Now the wicked king of Dumberg had always
wanted to conquer Glicken Glocken -
1:45 - 1:47but he was afraid to attack.

1:50 - 1:54Suddenly, the king cried, "I have it.
-
1:54 - 1:56I'll stop they're big clock and
-
1:56 - 1:59without clocks or watches of their own,
-
1:59 - 2:01they won't be able to tell the time.
-
2:01 - 2:03Everything will be thrown into confusion.
-
2:03 - 2:05Then I will strike."
-
2:06 - 2:10So the wicked king of Dumberg sent his
boldest henchman into Glicken Glocken -
2:10 - 2:11to stop the clock.
-
2:12 - 2:17Slyly the henchman crept close to the tower
just as the clock was about to strike. -
2:21 - 2:27The hands of the wonderful clock pointed
to three, as he tiptoed up the steps. -
2:31 - 2:35Quietly, he took a big hammer
from under his cloak. -
2:35 - 2:43♪ Listen all. Hear the shout
of children running fast and free. ♪ -
2:43 - 2:47♪ School is out. School is out. ♪

2:47 - 2:49♪ The hour is three. The hour is... ♪
-
2:50 - 2:52[mechanical clanging sounds]
-
2:52 - 2:55The clock was stopped.
-
2:55 - 2:57Yes, the big clock was stopped.
-
2:57 - 3:01Its hands pointed to three, and moved no more.

3:01 - 3:04Then, just as the wicked king of Dumberg
had planned, -
3:04 - 3:09All over the city of Glicken Glocken
there was terrible confusion. -
3:11 - 3:12♪ What time is it? What time is it? ♪

3:12 - 3:13♪ What time is it? What time is it? ♪

3:13 - 3:14♪ Should we work? ♪

3:14 - 3:15♪ Should we work? ♪

3:15 - 3:15♪ Or should we stop? ♪

3:16 - 3:20♪ Should we open up the stores or
close up every shop? ♪ -
3:23 - 3:27The wicked king brought his army to
a high ridge, just across the river. -
3:27 - 3:31And there behind the hill, they waited
while things in Glicken Glocken -
3:31 - 3:32grew more and more confused.

3:32 - 3:34♪ Is it late or is it early? ♪
-
3:34 - 3:35♪ Goodness, what a hurly burly. ♪
-
3:35 - 3:36♪ Is it early? Is it late? ♪
-
3:36 - 3:38♪ What's the hour? What's the date? ♪
-
3:38 - 3:39♪ Maybe it is time for bed. ♪
-
3:40 - 3:41♪ Get up quick and work instead. ♪
-
3:41 - 3:43♪ What has happened to our town? ♪
-
3:43 - 3:48♪ Everything is upside-down! ♪
-
3:48 - 3:51The wicked king cried, "Now is the time!
-
3:51 - 3:57Over the bridge and Glicken Glocken
will be ours!" -
4:00 - 4:03Swiftly his soldiers advanced
toward Glicken Glocken -
4:03 - 4:11and just as they reached the middle
of the bridge, everyone stopped. -
4:15 - 4:16They looked up.

4:16 - 4:19♪ Hear me well. All take care. ♪
-
4:20 - 4:24♪ Across the river from the ridge now ♪
-
4:24 - 4:25♪ come the foe, ♪
-
4:26 - 4:28♪ so beware, ♪
-
4:28 - 4:33♪ of Glicken Glocken to the
bridge now. ♪ -
4:33 - 4:35Our wonderful clock is magical.
-
4:35 - 4:38Yes captain, and the magic
has saved our city. -
4:38 - 4:41To the bridge, men!
-
4:44 - 4:47The soldiers of Glicken Glocken
rushed to the bridge -
4:47 - 4:53and drove the wicked king and his army
back into Dumberg. -
4:53 - 4:57And to this day, if you visit the
far away city of Glicken Glocken, -
4:57 - 5:01high in the highest tower, you'll see
their wonderful clock. -
5:02 - 5:06Its hands still point to three, but every
hour by some strange magic, -
5:06 - 5:11the one silver cock crows,
-
5:12 - 5:17two brass trumpeteers come out,
-
5:19 - 5:23and the little golden angel sings.

5:23 - 5:31♪ Seconds fly, minute flow,
and hours into days and years swell. ♪ -
5:31 - 5:37♪ Time speeds by. All should know
that time is precious. ♪ -
