-
Hi everyone. Thanks for watching this
-
video. Hope you all are doing good today.
-
During this video, I will discuss and
-
demonstrate group policy analytics tool
-
which is part of Microsoft Endpoint
-
Manager or Microsoft Intune, and can help
-
organizations in planning the migration
-
of Windows 10 management from our
-
traditional group policy objects to a
-
cloud-based MDM solution. Organizations
-
generally leverage group policy objects
-
to configure settings on personal
-
computers or any other on-premise
-
devices.
-
But these days
-
many of the organizations are also
-
looking for some kind of cloud solutions
-
to manage
-
their
-
Windows 10 devices
-
because now users are not limited to
-
the organization's perimeter network. So
-
group policy tools can help
-
organizations in analyzing on-premise
-
group policy objects which can further lead to
-
planning
-
the migration strategy for Windows 10
-
management from group policies to a
-
cloud-based solution.
-
So let's look at into the demo now, and the
-
first thing what we need to do is we
-
have to export the group policy in XML
-
file.
-
Let's log into the domain controller and
-
export a group policy in XML file.
-
This is my domain controller and
-
let's go to
-
group policy management.
-
And this is one of the policy, MDE
-
Onboarding GPO. This is one of the policy
-
where I have done some changes.
-
So let's export this policy in XML file.
-
If we go to
-
save report
-
then
-
choose the location. Let's save it here
-
in the C drive and
-
save as type,
-
change the save as type from HTML to XML
-
file.
-
So now we have XML document for this. Let
-
me copy it onto my local system.
-
And
-
now, the second thing what we need to do
-
is to import this XML file in
-
group policy analytics tool. So let's go
-
to Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
-
If you go to devices, you have an option
-
for group policy analytics.
-
Now let's import the settings XML file
-
first
-
and choose the XML file.
-
Import has been completed, let's close
-
this. So you can see that 70% of the
-
settings which are supported by MDM
-
solution. Settings which are marked as
-
green, these settings can be
-
configurable using your MDM solution. Now
-
if you go to the reports
-
and
-
if you want to see the group policy
-
analytics report,
-
you can click here and
-
you can just do a refresh.
-
It will show you the readiness
-
mark.
-
Ready for migration, it means there are
-
11 settings which are ready for
-
migration, and these are the 12 settings
-
are there which is not supported,
-
and there are 23 settings which
-
which are in total.
-
If you go to the reports,
-
then group policy migration readiness,
-
you can click on this report and
-
you can see this these all policies are
-
ready for migration.
-
It means you can configure these
-
policies using
-
the cloud-based MDM solution onto the
-
Windows 10 devices.
-
So now this report section give you a
-
some idea that
-
these are the settings which are
-
available in the MDM solution and if in
-
case if you plan to migrate
-
your
-
Windows 10 management solution from
-
your group policy to your
-
cloud-based MDM solution, then these are
-
settings which are available and can be
-
configurable using the MDM solution.
-
So this concludes our demonstration of
-
group policy analytics tool, and
-
I hope this will be informative for you.
-
Please do share and subscribe if you
-
really find this
-
work for you.
-
If in case if you want me to cover some
-
more videos on a specific topic, please
-
do mention in the comment section of
-
this video. I will try to cover those
-
topics in my future videos. Thank you,
-
Have a nice day.
