This conversation reflects on Invento o Cais, an exhibition presented at Sesc Niterói in São Domingos, Niterói, Brazil from November 23, 2024 to February 22, 2025. The exhibition, co-curated by Julia Naidin, Fernando Codeço, and Daniel Toledo, showcased works by 14 artists who participated in immersive artistic residencies organized by CasaDuna at Atafona Beach, São João da Barra, Rio de Janeiro—a region identified by the UN as one of the world’s most vulnerable due to rising sea levels and the climate emergency.
 
This Coop conversation features Julia Naidin (Invento o Cais co-curator), Fernando Codeço (Invento o Cais co-curator and former Hemispheric Encounters Postdoctoral Artist-Scholar, Sérgio Pereira Andrade (Universiteit van Amsterdam and Co-lead of Hemispheric Encounters Ecologies Cluster), Shauna Janssen (Concordia University and Hemispheric Encounters Ecologies Cluster member), and Laura Levin (York University, and Director of Hemispheric Encounters).
