When To Fertilize Grass - UGA Thomas County Extension

and today I'm going to talk

to you about fertilizing
your yard and when

to fertilize your yard.

Now if you look down
here we're looking

at some St. Augustine grass.

Now, right now we're at November
the 1st and most of our grasses

that we have, warm season
grasses that is Bermuda,

St. Augustine, Centipede,

and Zorza grass are
beginning to enter dormancy.

So there's no need
to fertilize in the fall.

Now when do you need
to fertilize.

to be doing month by month based
upon the type of grass you have.

As far as when to
start fertilizing

in South Georgia here, the
best time is particularly

around May the 1st,
after the grass has come

out of the dormancy period
and is actively growing.
