planning my 2025 crochet/knit projects & patterns (SPOILERS)
-
0:00 - 0:02Okay. Hi guys! I'm very excited because
-
0:02 - 0:05today we're doing our first annual project-planning video
-
0:05 - 0:07I asked on my Instagram story
-
0:07 - 0:08if y'all would want to see this
-
0:08 - 0:10because it is going to have a lot of spoilers
-
0:10 - 0:11for what I make this year.
-
0:11 - 0:12Most of you voted yes.
-
0:12 - 0:16And I think it would be really helpful for me because
-
0:16 - 0:17I feel like the past few years
-
0:17 - 0:19the projects I make...
-
0:19 - 0:20I'm not very intentional about it.
-
0:20 - 0:22It's like, oh, I saw this inspo photo
-
0:22 - 0:24or, oh, I have this yarn
-
0:24 - 0:26And then some of the larger undertakings
-
0:26 - 0:27or more creative projects
-
0:27 - 0:29that I am very passionate about
-
0:29 - 0:30just kind of fall by the wayside.
-
0:30 - 0:32I also want to be more intentional about my yarn,
-
0:32 - 0:33because y'all have probably noticed
-
0:33 - 0:35I just buy whatever yarn I think is pretty
-
0:35 - 0:37and then find a way to use it later.
-
0:37 - 0:39But there are certain projects
-
0:39 - 0:40where I'm not gonna make it
-
0:40 - 0:42unless I have the perfect yarn for it
-
0:42 - 0:43So I kinda wanna identify
-
0:43 - 0:45the gaps in my yarn stash
-
0:45 - 0:46and make those purchases ahead of time.
-
0:46 - 0:48And I think for you guys,
-
0:48 - 0:50it would be fun to get more of a look
-
0:50 - 0:52into how I find inspo and plan my projects.
-
0:52 - 0:53Like, usually when I start a video
-
0:53 - 0:54I already know what I'm gonna make,
-
0:54 - 0:56but today we're just gonna
-
0:56 - 0:58do like a live brainstorm session
-
0:58 - 0:59so scroll through my Instagram saved
-
0:59 - 1:01my Pineterst boards
-
1:01 - 1:02and just start figuring out
-
1:02 - 1:04which projects I'm most excited about.
-
1:04 - 1:04Now if you watch my videos
-
1:04 - 1:05you can probably guess
-
1:05 - 1:06that I'm gonna be doing all of this
-
1:06 - 1:08in Milanote, which is the tool I use
-
1:08 - 1:10for pretty much all my creative project planning
-
1:10 - 1:11I can just show you some of my
-
1:11 - 1:12previous boards as an example.
-
1:12 - 1:14So, this from my eazy brezzy sweater pattern
-
1:14 - 1:16For starters, we have this mood board
-
1:16 - 1:18where I saved a bunch of inspo
-
1:18 - 1:19that I liked.
-
1:19 - 1:21Then I have a materials board
-
1:21 - 1:23This is where I put together some
-
1:23 - 1:24color combos I liked from
-
1:24 - 1:25my own yarn stash.
-
1:25 - 1:27Uhh, we have a to-do list,
-
1:27 - 1:29the pattern release timeline,
-
1:29 - 1:30this diagram and measurements board
-
1:30 - 1:32is just like a brain dump of all
-
1:32 - 1:34the digital and physical sketches that I made,
-
1:34 - 1:35measurements...
-
1:35 - 1:38We also have a collaborative board
-
1:38 - 1:39that I made for my pattern testers
-
1:39 - 1:40so they were able to
-
1:40 - 1:43jump in and put their yarn color choices
-
1:43 - 1:45so I could visualize that.
-
1:45 - 1:47I have some links out to google drive folders
-
1:47 - 1:49Basically everything and anything
-
1:49 - 1:50related to this pattern lives here.
-
1:50 - 1:52It's just a very multi-media way
-
1:52 - 1:53to consolidate everything.
-
1:53 - 1:55Now, for today's purposes
-
1:55 - 1:56I have this Project Ideas board
-
1:56 - 1:57that I haven't populated yet.
-
1:57 - 1:59So as we go to build out this board,
-
1:59 - 2:00if you don't know where to start,
-
2:00 - 2:02Milanote actually has hundreds of templates
-
2:02 - 2:03you can choose from.
