CONGRESS DEBATES ENDA/GAY DISCRIMINATION: Rep. Barney Frank

I regret the fact that there do not appear to be the votes in this house to include

people who are transgender and I am struck by the eagerness to use that group as a

weapon to defeat the whole bill.

Because these are people who are opposed to the inclusion of people who are transgender

but who have historically been opposed to including any protection for people at all.

I'll yield to the gentleman.

I thank the gentleman for yielding. If the gentleman was listening to my remarks -

I know the gentleman came in after I had started my remarks -

but my whole problem was suggesting that we have a process here where we can

dispose of, for or against.

I take back my time. That's not what the gentleman said.

But the effect would be to try and undermine the bill.
