    And, the first thing that came to my mind
    was the part in The Grinch

    where he's invited to the dinner
    and he said, "But what would I wear?"

    And, I think that's kind of how we feel
    when we approach our social media is like,
  • 3:16 - 3:17
    "But what do I do with it?"
  • 3:17 - 3:21
    "I have this content, I have this post..."
  • 3:22 - 3:23
    And...
  • 3:24 - 3:27
    But what do I do with it
    now that I know I want to post it.
  • 3:27 - 3:28
    So...

    This is just a reminder about
    the pillars of social media.
  • 3:33 - 3:37
    These are just my, y'know,
    gospel-according-to-Alisha-type pillars.

    This is what I try to do
    when I'm creating a campaign,

    when I'm doing social media,
    is to do one of these six things,
  • 3:44 - 3:47
    and if it doesn't fit here,
    then I don't do it
  • 3:47 - 3:50
    or I try to make sure
    that I'm hitting these pillars.

    Again, you can have your own
    for your brand
  • 3:54 - 3:56
    for your, office.

    It just all depends on
    what you want to do with it.

    and I'm going to explain them,
    but we're going to go through...

    And I'm going to go through and talk
    about each different question you can

    ask yourself when you go
    to post something.

    So the first one is-

    so each-

    each slide is going to talk about
    whether you should

    do like a reels or a video,
    stories or a feed post.

    And this is for all types of social media,
    Facebook, Instagram.

    I think that's- yeah, those are the
    main two people are on,
  • 4:40 - 4:42
    maybe TikTok, if you're on there.
  • 4:42 - 4:46
    So the thing to think about,
    when you're posting something
  • 4:46 - 4:49
    or you have this piece of content
    that you want to do something with,
  • 4:49 - 4:52
    you need to think about
    who do you want to reach
  • 4:52 - 4:56
    if you want to find new followers,
    if you want people to see your content
  • 4:56 - 4:57
    and then come to your page,
  • 4:59 - 5:01
    new people are most likely going
  • 5:01 - 5:05
    to see your stuff on a reel,
    or a video, or a feed post.
  • 5:05 - 5:07
    Especially if you boost it.
  • 5:07 - 5:10
    If not- if you don't boost it, it's fine.
  • 5:10 - 5:13
    They can still show up organically, but,
  • 5:13 - 5:17
    reels tend to bring you the most new eyes
  • 5:17 - 5:21
    that might not necessarily like,
    they might not follow your page,
  • 5:21 - 5:22
    you can't guarantee that,
  • 5:22 - 5:26
    but it's more likely to be seen
    by new people who don't know about
  • 5:26 - 5:29
    your office, what you're offering,
    that kind of thing.

    If you want current followers
    to know about an update...

    stories or a feed post is the best
  • 5:36 - 5:38
    because that's going to show up
    organically in their feed.

    Obviously reels are still great,
    videos are still awesome, but

    this is kind of how I gauge, you know-

    "Who do I want to reach
    with this content?"

    Then the next one is
    how long do I want it to last?
  • 5:50 - 5:53
    So like, what's my shelf
    life for this piece of content?
  • 5:53 - 5:56
    If it's something that's short,
    sweet, doesn't need to be
  • 5:56 - 6:01
    saved on the page for a while,
    I would make it into a story.
  • 6:01 - 6:03
    So if it's a quick update, a quick post.
  • 6:03 - 6:06
    Maybe just like a little tidbit
    of information like um...
  • 6:08 - 6:10
    something that doesn't need
    to be long lasting
  • 6:10 - 6:14
    or it's- it's like a bite sized.

    I just put it on Instagram Stories, and
    if I really want it to last longer though,

    I can put it as a highlight.

    If not, and I want it to be more evergreen

    and people can, like,
    go through our profile and find it.

    I'd do more long lasting.

    So for instance, if it's a short story...

    um, content.

    So something like tips for
    writing thank you notes

    in a live stock setting.

    Or "here's a quick update about..."

    "this event that's going on."

    I put it in stories, but if it's something
    I want people to continue looking at,

    for instance, our hours or-

    like important dates,
    I put it in my feed.

    And you can always share
    your feed post to your story

    if you want to.

    Another question I like to think is like:
    "what kind of content is it?"

    So, is it entertaining?

    In depth, short updates, photos?

    So if they're photos from the event,
    I share it in the feed.

    If they're photos at the event,
    —like the event's actually going on—

    I put it on Instagram Stories.

    If it's a link, um...

    This is kind of how I gauge what I-
    where I want it to be.

    Now you notice on entertaining,
    it can go anywhere because it really just-

    Entertainment and kind of fun
    can go basically anywhere

    if it's longer, more in-depth
    information...

    carousel posts do super well on Instagram.
  • 7:36 - 7:41
    If it's just short updates,
    a quick reel, like bite sized-
  • 7:41 - 7:44
    so the attention span of a reel
    is like this little.
  • 7:44 - 7:47
    But people are willing to read posts
    that are longer if they're like a feed
  • 7:47 - 7:49
    rather than a video.
  • 7:49 - 7:52
    So that's kind of that part is
    "what kind of content is it?"
  • 7:53 - 7:57
    And then the next part is
    "what do I want people to do with it?"
  • 7:57 - 8:01
    This is one of my main questions
    I ask when I get content is,
  • 8:01 - 8:05
    "do I want people to just know?"
  • 8:05 - 8:09
    "Do I want them to share and save it,
    or do they want them to engage with me?"
  • 8:09 - 8:12
    Um. And we're-
    I'm going to go over an example of
  • 8:12 - 8:15
    how I planned out content for this month
    so you can see this in action.

    But, if I know that
    this is a very likely infographic-
  • 8:20 - 8:26
    to be like information to be shared, I'm
    going to put it as a feed post or a reel.

    If it's just a quick be informed that-
    I don't think people will share that much.

    I just put it on stories
    if I want- like Megan was talking about-

    I want people to engage
    with me a little bit more.

    Stories tends to get more
    audience engagement

    than like a post,
    at least in my experience

    with our main account.

    And I should have put this caveat
    at the beginning, but every page

    is going to be a little different

    and you're going to have
    to figure out what works for you.

    And these are just
    some base guidelines for you.

    Okay. So then the next is
    "where do I want it to show up and live?"

    Meaning like when people
    get on the social media profile,

    where do I want them to see it?
  • 9:05 - 9:09
    And so if you want it at
    the top of the Instagram or Facebook page,
  • 9:09 - 9:11
    stories are always at the top.
  • 9:12 - 9:14
    If you want it just in the newsfeed
    as they're scrolling,
  • 9:14 - 9:16
    then a reel or a post.
  • 9:16 - 9:19
    And then the "f.y.p." is the
    for you page on reels.
  • 9:20 - 9:24
    That's again, new people
    who don't know you're- you're-
  • 9:24 - 9:27
    who don't follow you,
    but they follow like accounts.
  • 9:27 - 9:31
    And so they might see your stuff
    as they're scrolling through reels.

    Uhm. Another thing I ask is
    "what is the goal of my piece?"
  • 9:35 - 9:38
    So is it to get new leads, new followers?
  • 9:38 - 9:40
    Is it to build my relationships?
  • 9:40 - 9:43
    Is it to promote things?
  • 9:43 - 9:46
    And these are all questions you can ask.
    Like while you're uh...

    creating the content.
    that'll help, you know,
  • 9:50 - 9:55
    what size do I need to do?
    Should it be text? Should it be video?
  • 9:55 - 9:59
    Again, you can kind of tweak it to
    how your audience is going to be.

    So I wanted to
    just show you real quick.

    So this is the calendar
    that I used to get content
  • 10:12 - 10:15
    from faculty and staff for December,
    which is food month.
  • 10:15 - 10:18
    So I took our most popular,

    like YouTube videos and website articles,
  • 10:21 - 10:26
    and I kind of did a few new topics
    based on those views.
  • 10:26 - 10:30
    And I said, "here's the medium
    that I want them to deliver it to me in."
  • 10:30 - 10:33
    So I kind of, went through and said, okay,
  • 10:34 - 10:38
    if it's a recipe,
    videos with recipes do really good.
  • 10:38 - 10:40
    So I'm going to make that
    into like a video.
  • 10:40 - 10:43
    If it's just like chronic pain
    and nutrition, that's
  • 10:43 - 10:48
    really interesting to us, but I know
    our audience is not likely to share it.

    They are likely to just read it
    and log it away
  • 10:52 - 10:56
    versus like an Instant
    Pot hack or electric programable...
  • 10:56 - 11:00
    Anyway, cooker hack people are more likely
    to share that and save it.

    Uh, so this is kind of
    what it looks like afterwards.

    So then I went through on the right
    you can see it says posting method.

    And I said, okay, I know that...

    a reel with a spaghetti
    squash recipe is going to do really well

    because I can get new people
    to follow us.

    People watch cooking videos,
    all the time on social media,
  • 11:26 - 11:28
    and they'll save it.
    And they'll engage with it.
  • 11:28 - 11:32
    And so that's why I chose a reel
    for spaghetti squash.

    Versus like a smoothie hack,
  • 11:36 - 11:38
    a story that's just kind of short lived.

    Fun tidbit information
    felt better than a reel to me.

    Just based on our audience.

    As well as, like,

    the mindful eating,

    I felt like more people
    are aware of that phrase.

    And so I didn't feel the need
    to put something out there new,

    but almost just to remind people
    that we do have experts in this topic.

    So it's kind of-

    about knowing your audience,

    knowing what things are going to act-
    interact with and things they won't,

    and then finding a good balance of

    like being able to share your content
    but also engaging with them.

    So how can I repurpose that content
    in a new, fresh way that they stay engaged

    while adding in a few things that I think
    might, just based on trends and stuff, so.
