GLOVESTRAINS: Hey, everyone!
GLovesTrains 'ere.
-
Now I'm very excited today because
-
not only am I going
riding the trains,
-
I'm also gonna be visiting
-
yet another random
UK railway station.
-
But also,
it is my first-ever time using
-
my new camera and mic setup.
-
So yeah, hopefully,
everything goes all right with that.
-
So, I went on to me trusty
-
online random station
generator thingamebobs.
-
First of all, I selected
a random letter.
-
It came up with the letter Q.
-
There's loads of stations in the UK
-
beginning with Q, right?
-
Er, no, there's only seven!
-
However, that is actually one more
-
than there was for the letter J.
-
So then I selected a station
and it came up with
-
Queen's Park (London).
-
Yep, I am headed down south again.
-
I'm starting my journey
-
from Macclesfield here today.
-
So I'm gonna get on inside there and,
-
once again,
head down to London.
-
(TICKET MACHINE WHIRRS)
-
(COVER SQUEAKS)
-
G: Reyt, I'm down here
on the platform now.
-
I think I've got about five minutes
-
to wait until me train comes in.
And yeah,
-
I'm currently just genuinely,
-
even though I've only filmed
a few clips on this new camera,
-
just really tryna get used to it
at the minute! (LAUGHS)
-
(TRAIN NOISE)
-
(DOOR GLIDES OPEN)
-
G: Bye-bye, Lucy!
-
And bye-bye, Macclesfield.
-
I'm on Avanti Pendo 390132,
-
I think it was.
-
Might have to double-check that
when I get off.
-
But I am on 'ere for just under
two and a half hours now.
-
Doing what has become
quite a common journey
-
that I do these days
-
between Macclesfield
-
going down to the terminus
of London Euston.
-
Now the difference with this today is,
-
because this is
the first train on a Sunday,
-
we are actually going via Lichfield.
-
Now I'm not too sure
if this is a route
-
that Avanti do on weekdays as well.
-
Again, that's something else
I'll have to check out later on.
-
But yeah, I'm just gonna
do what I always do.
-
Sit back, chill,
connect to the Wi-fi,
-
and...put me headphones in,
-
listen to some music...
-
Yeah, happy days.
Need to take this jacket off as well.
-
Absolutely boiling right now!
(LAUGHS)
-
(QUIET TRAIN NOISE)
-
We are just pulling into
Lichfield Trent Valley now.
-
Which is the penultimate stop.
-
Yeah, we've only called at
-
Stoke-on-Trent and Lichfield.
-
I'm really not used
to there only being
-
two stops before London Euston.
(LAUGHS)
-
(QUIET TRAIN NOISE)
-
(TRAIN DOORS GLIDE OPEN)
-
We've actually just pulled in
ten minutes early to Euston.
-
But I think that is the quietest train
-
I've ever caught to Euston.
-
Like coach G was pretty much empty.
-
And it was 132 as well.
So yeah,
-
happy days, I did get
the number correct on that.
-
I am just pretty much changing over
here at Euston now.
-
Onto my second and final train
of the day.
-
So I'ma just make my way
-
through to the concourse area here
-
and see which platform
-
I need to go for this next train.
-
Ah, okay. It did just say,
Queen's Park, platform 9, up there.
-
Here we are. Platform 9.
-
"Platform closing
in four minutes, seven seconds."
-
Don't think I've ever seen that
on a display before.
-
(TRAIN DOORS BEEP
THEN GLIDE OPEN)
-
This is my first time riding
-
a London Overground train
from Euston.
-
I'm on 710376.
-
And I'm literally only on this train
-
for like nine minutes.
-
So yeah, not long at all.
-
(TRAIN NOISE)
-
Like with the last train I was on,
-
it is two stops before the stop
(ANNOUNCEMENT IN BACKGROUND)
-
that I need to get off at.
-
But yeah,
we are actually arriving
-
into Queen's Park now.
-
(TRAIN DOORS BEEP
THEN GLIDE OPEN)
-
All right, here I am
at the random station
-
the random station generator
has brought me to today.
-
(TRAIN NOISE)
It's Queen's Park.
-
Byesie byes to the train.
(LAUGHS)
-
And...
(SINGS) ♫ When you're at Queen's Park
-
♫ You put your knickers
on your head
-
♫ You put your
knickers on your head
-
♫ You put your knickers
on your head
-
♫ When you're at Queen's Park
-
♫ You put your knickers
on your head
-
♫ And you shout ♫
-
(SHOUTS) Squishy boobies!
-
(TRAIN NOISE)
-
I must have actually whizzed past
Queen's Park before
-
when I was on the Avanti train,
-
because I keep seeing Avanti Pendos
-
whizzing past over there.
-
(TRAIN GLIDES TO A HALT)
But as for Queen's Park itself,
-
it is a London Underground station.
-
You have of course got
London Overground services too.
-
And I did wonder with regards
to the layout of this station,
-
would the Underground
be on a different level
-
to the Overground?
-
But it turns out they're not.
And to be honest with ya,
-
I did go and have a look
(LAUGHS)
-
at some photos before I came out
-
and filmed this vlog.
So yeah,
-
I did kind of know what
-
(LAUGHS)
it was gonna look like in advance.
-
But yeah, all of the platforms...
-
There are four...
Well, there's actually six platforms here.
-
But there's only four in use.
-
The outermost platforms,
-
platform 4 and platform 1,
-
are served by
the London Overground services.
-
There's four trains per hour
in either direction
-
between London and Watford.
-
And then the innermost platforms,
-
platforms 2 and 3,
-
are for the Underground services
-
which serve the Bakerloo Line.
-
Reyt, I'm gonna get out via the steps.
-
Don't think there's step-free access
in this station as well.
-
And I'm gonna go
see what's around the area.
-
See if there's a park.
And if there is,
-
is it by any chance
called Queen's Park?
-
(FOOTSTEPS)
-
(TICKET GATE WHIRRS)
-
(DISTANT TRAFFIC NOISE)
-
G: I have a feeling
there may be a park behind this.
-
A-ha! Queen's Park, here we go.
-
(LEAVES CRUNCH UNDERFOOT)
-
Whilst everyone else
is walking along the path
-
which sort of runs
-
in a circle around
this grassy field-y bit,
-
I thought, "Do you know what?
I'm just gonna walk
-
"right through the middle of the grass!"
-
But I do love
coming to a good park me,
-
and dunno how big this park is...
-
I don't think it's as big as
-
that other one I went to
-
when I was down in London that time.
-
I've actually forgotten
the name of the park.
-
It'll come to me at some point!
-
But, yeah. Let's just
have a wander through 'ere.
-
I've got plenty of time as well.
I don't need to be
-
on a train out of here
anytime soon.
-
So yeah, let's see what's about.
-
Well, there's some big tree trunks
-
on the ground you can have a sit on.
-
Well, the wind has picked up a bit
-
from walking around this park.
-
But do you know what?
I'm very glad
-
that I've got a microphone now.
-
And I'm very excited to actually see
-
how much wind protection
this gives me. So, yeah.
-
Hopefully I won't be
having to worry so much
-
about protecting...my camera,
-
my camera holes and all that lot
-
from the wind et cetera.
-
But what a great day again!
-
And do you know what?
The journey's absolutely flown by.
-
It was a really easy,
not cheap,
-
but easy journey.
-
Oh my days!
-
(LAUGHS)
-
Well, this is entertaining.
I think there's some storm kicking up here
-
down to Queen's Park today.
The London one.
-
I think there's another one
up in Glasgow, in't there?
-
Yeah, can't quite believe
the vlog's over, to be honest.
-
I wanna keep going!
(LAUGHS)
-
Thank you very much
for watching, everyone.
-
Byesie byes!
