Advice from a GurSikh - Jo Deesai Gursikhrra - Sedgley Street

  • 0:27 - 0:31
In the Shabad I was reading
    out in the beginning -
  • 5:14 - 5:18
A Sikh and a GurSikh are talking
    between themselves.
  • Not Synced
The Sikh doesn’t know much about the Guru.
  • Not Synced
And the Sikh has come to the GurSikh
and they’ve got a question for them.
  • Not Synced
They say I’ve come from far away
    to you
  • Not Synced
to get you to tell me the way to my Guru.
  • Not Synced
The GurSikh is being asked to help
    this Sikh find the Guru.
  • Not Synced
And in this Shabad there’s a lot of
    responsibilty upon the GurSikh.
  • Not Synced
    There’s a big responsibility on
    the GurSikh’s shoulders.
  • Not Synced
That he doesn’t join the Sikh to himself
but to join the Sikh to Guru Sahib.
  • Not Synced
It’s very to easy to start becoming
the people that join someone to you.
  • Not Synced
But the responsibility of a GurSikh
is to join that person to the Guru.
  • Not Synced
So normally we read these Shabads
    to the Guru
  • Not Synced
But actually the Sikh is saying it
    to the GurSikh.
  • Not Synced
Now the response of the GurSikh
to this Benti is very important.
  • Not Synced
Because anybody can go ask someone
    “let me meet the Guru”.
  • Not Synced
But the response of the GurSikh
is what the Guru is teaching us.
  • Not Synced
The GurSikh’s response to the Sikh...
  • Not Synced
    There’s no other way.
  • Not Synced
    He says
“if you want to walk upon this path then"
  • Not Synced
To walk upon this path we have to do
whatever the Guru is telling us to do
  • Not Synced
We can’t choose a little bit here
    and a little bit there.
  • Not Synced
We have to follow the path set by the Guru
  • Not Synced
We have to give up desires of our mind.
    what our mind thinks.
  • Not Synced
    And forget all the other
    loves of this world.
  • Not Synced
Just love the Guru, follow the Guru.
  • Not Synced
    So the single-handed devotion
    towards the Guru,
  • Not Synced
the desire to follow only what the Guru
is saying - this is true Sikhi.
  • Not Synced
    This is Sikhi.
  • Not Synced
And that is what the GurSikh
    has to respond to.
  • Not Synced
If someone came upto you and said
"Paaji do I have to do this?"
  • Not Synced
“Is it really important to do this
    to meet my Guru?"
  • Not Synced
We can’t take the easy option and say
"we don’t need this, just enjoy yourself"
  • Not Synced
No, we’ve been given a Hukam (order)
by the Guru in this Shabad
  • Not Synced
that you must tell them following the Guru
    is the only way.
  • Not Synced
    Waheguru
