Here is an emotionally charged moment within an interview conducted on the June 2025 Delegation. The story of strength and resilience is one that pulls at your heart strings, Analise is a 17 year old girl who has suffered greatly over the years with Narcolepsy, causing great strain within the family. The medical conditions that we incounter in our work are wide ranging with each story weighing heavy on our hearts. It was beautiful to see the love and gratitude Alanis has for her parents who have come together to fight for their daughters livelihood. The love a parent has for their children is a love like no other where you would do anything to protect them.

Solar with Battery Storage is in a lot of ways a form of protection for this family who rely on refridgerating medicine to combat the Narcolepsy that Alanis suffers with. Consistent black outs lead towards difficult dynamics of sustaining0 the medication, not to mention the cost.
A few moments after the interview when everyone came off the roof to spend time with the family, Analise passed out in the mothers arms and began twitching. There was a moment of fear within me, yet I felt at ease as i witnessed the love and care her mother as she held Alanises body in place. A few minutes later she woke up and went back to engaging with all of us.

We go into these situations and always have to meet the beneficeray where they are at and see if they are open to telling their story. This short clip is just a piece of their story, with much more to the interview and the reality they have faced. What was most impactful to me was entering the room, drentched in sweat from being on the roof helping with the install and seeing if it was okay to conduct the interview. There was a silence that went over the room as Analise began crying from the request. She walked away and we all just sat there for a moment not knowing what to say. Within a few minutes of being in the bathroom all by herself she re appeared and with a confident look on her face said she was ready. It takes a great amount of courage to open up your heart to talk about the struggles you and your family go through. I will never forget the strength in which Analise spoke and her authenticity through it all.
