Cathy Cruz was the first in her family to go to college. When she started at CSUN, she had been working in special education but held only a GED. Now, her B.A. in Child Development and a M.A. in early childhood special ed have allowed her to advance in her job. She is setting an example for her children and an expectation that they too will attend college. Philanthropic funding allows students like Cathy to have experiences at CSUN that prepare them for successful careers in the community.
