ICE CAUGHT Illegal Chinese Illegal Immigrants Doing Some VERY Bad Things

  • 0:00 - 0:04
Microsoft was using engineers in China
  • 0:04 - 0:07
to maintain the Department of Defense's computers
  • 0:07 - 0:10
    . ICE arrests Chinese nationals
  • 0:10 - 0:12
    defrauding elderly citizens.
  • 0:12 - 0:15
And the US is fighting back against CCP influence
  • 0:15 - 0:17
    on American campuses.
  • 0:17 - 0:21
Then more on this week's China news headlines.
  • 0:22 - 0:24
Welcome to China andensored. I'm Chris Chapel
  • 0:24 - 0:26
. This episode is sponsored by Surf Shark
  • 0:26 - 0:30
. Whenever you go online, you really should be using a VPN like Surf Shark
  • 0:30 - 0:32
to cover your tracks and protect your identity
  • 0:32 - 0:33
. I'll tell you more in a bit
  • 0:33 - 0:38
. You know, when I started this show over a decade ago
  • 0:38 - 0:39
    , I hoped I could warn
  • 0:39 - 0:44
people about the dangers of trusting the Chinese Communist Party.
  • 0:44 - 0:47
This has been a depressing week for me
  • 0:47 - 0:50
because this new report by ProPublica
  • 0:50 - 0:53
    exposed a littleknown Microsoft program
  • 0:53 - 0:56
that could expose the Defense Department to Chinese hackers
  • 0:56 - 0:59
. Microsoft has engineers in China
  • 0:59 - 1:01
    doing tech support
  • 1:01 - 1:04
for US Defense Department computer systems
  • 1:04 - 1:06
. Let me say this again.
  • 1:06 - 1:09
Engineers in China are maintaining the
  • 1:09 - 1:12
    US military's computer systems.
  • 1:12 - 1:17
How could this happen, you ask, screaming into the void?
  • 1:17 - 1:19
    Well, because technically
  • 1:19 - 1:23
Microsoft is following the Defense Department's requirements
  • 1:23 - 1:24
    . There are US
  • 1:24 - 1:28
citizens overseeing these engineers in China
  • 1:28 - 1:31
. But as ProPublica says, these workers
  • 1:31 - 1:34
, known as digital escorts, often
  • 1:34 - 1:37
lack the technical expertise to police
  • 1:37 - 1:40
foreign engineers with far more advanced skills
  • 1:40 - 1:43
. It makes sense they were called
  • 1:43 - 1:45
    digital escorts because Microsoft just
  • 1:45 - 1:47
    hoarded out America.
  • 1:47 - 1:50
Might it be a problem to have Chinese
  • 1:50 - 1:51
    engineers working on the defense
  • 1:51 - 1:54
    department's computers? You know, since
  • 1:54 - 1:56
    national intelligence calls China the
  • 1:56 - 1:58
most active and persistent cyber threat
  • 1:58 - 2:00
to US government, private sector, and
  • 2:00 - 2:02
    critical infrastructure networks. ,
  • 2:02 - 2:04
Well according to ProPublica, the Defense
  • 2:04 - 2:06
    Department didn't even know that
  • 2:06 - 2:08
    Microsoft was doing this.
  • 2:08 - 2:14
And don't worry, this program has been going on for only a decade.
  • 2:14 - 2:18
Program is only used for information below classified
  • 2:18 - 2:20
    . But the real concern
  • 2:20 - 2:23
is whether this was a gateway for Chinese hackers
  • 2:23 - 2:26
. China hacks the US a lot
  • 2:26 - 2:28
    . You see, I wonder if there's a connection
  • 2:28 - 2:30
. At least on the bright side,
  • 2:30 - 2:32
it seems I'll have plenty of content for
  • 2:32 - 2:34
    this show for another decade.
  • 2:34 - 2:37
Join me. Leave a honeypot emoji in the comments below.
  • 2:39 - 2:41
    Two Chinese illegal immigrants were
  • 2:41 - 2:44
arrested for plotting to scam elderly
  • 2:44 - 2:46
Americans out of their life savings. On
  • 2:46 - 2:50
May 29th, Ice Buffalo arrested Ru Yan,
  • 2:50 - 2:52
who they say tried to defraud an elderly
  • 2:52 - 2:55
couple out of their $20,000 savings.
  • 2:55 - 2:59
And this month, Ice Buffalo also apprehended
  • 2:59 - 3:02
Jen Chen, who they say successfully
  • 3:02 - 3:04
defrauded an elderly woman out of
  • 3:04 - 3:06
    $42,000.
  • 3:06 - 3:08
I think seniors in New York are going to
  • 3:08 - 3:11
need an upgraded version of Life Alert.
  • 3:11 - 3:14
Chen sought another $98,000 from the
  • 3:14 - 3:17
same woman and made plans to meet her,
  • 3:17 - 3:20
    but met ICE agents instead.
  • 3:20 - 3:22
These two aren't the first. Last
  • 3:22 - 3:24
October, ICE arrested a man named Hay
  • 3:24 - 3:26
Chen for attempting to defraud a local
  • 3:26 - 3:30
    senior citizen out of $40,000.
  • 3:30 - 3:32
I know ICE is controversial right now,
  • 3:32 - 3:34
but I think we can all agree that
  • 3:34 - 3:36
    illegal Chinese immigrants scamming
  • 3:36 - 3:39
money out of senior citizens transcends
  • 3:39 - 3:42
    the American leftright political divide.
  • 3:42 - 3:45
But maybe I'm just too brighteyed and innocent
  • 3:45 - 3:47
    . Let's change that.
  • 3:47 - 3:50
I've been reporting how the EU has actually been
  • 3:50 - 3:52
standing up to the Chinese Communist Party
  • 3:52 - 3:54
    . Well, not anymore.
  • 3:54 - 3:58
Spain has chosen Huawei, the Chinese military-link
  • 3:58 - 4:01
telecom company, to store and manage
  • 4:01 - 4:03
    digital intelligence wire taps.
  • 4:03 - 4:06
Some Spanish national police are none too
  • 4:06 - 4:08
happy about this given the obvious
  • 4:08 - 4:11
threat it poses to national security and the state's data
  • 4:11 - 4:12
    . Glad to hear that
  • 4:12 - 4:14
unlike Microsoft, they're fans of the
  • 4:14 - 4:17
show or just have common sense.
  • 4:17 - 4:22
But the same can't be said for the socialist government in Madrid
  • 4:22 - 4:24
. Huawei is apparently supplying its very own
  • 4:24 - 4:26
    high-performance storage servers to keep
  • 4:26 - 4:30
the data as if anything made in China's high performance
  • 4:30 - 4:32
    . But give horrifying
  • 4:32 - 4:35
credit where horrifying credit is due.
  • 4:35 - 4:38
The CCP is great at monitoring its own people
  • 4:38 - 4:39
. Of course, Huawei says that it
  • 4:39 - 4:42
won't pass on any of the collected data
  • 4:42 - 4:45
to the Chinese government, but if you believe that
  • 4:45 - 4:47
, I've got a bridge to sell you
  • 4:47 - 4:49
. It's probably going to collapse
  • 4:49 - 4:51
since it was made in China.
  • 4:51 - 4:53
But this is how China always divides the EU.
  • 4:53 - 4:57
They find the weak link and exploit it. And
  • 4:57 - 4:59
after the break, China's grip on US
  • 4:59 - 5:02
colleges and universities might be loosening
  • 5:04 - 5:06
Welcome back. The director of the
  • 5:06 - 5:08
    Princeton University Press, a nonprofit
  • 5:08 - 5:10
publisher with close ties to Princeton
  • 5:10 - 5:12
    University, has been accused of
  • 5:12 - 5:16
campaigning to whitewash the Weaguer genocide
  • 5:16 - 5:17
. So what is she saying?
  • 5:17 - 5:19
Instead of concentration camps, they're sleepa
  • 5:19 - 5:22
away camps where they get to sleep forever.
  • 5:23 - 5:26
During a recent trip to China, Christy
  • 5:26 - 5:28
Henry had this to say about her visit to
  • 5:28 - 5:30
    Qashqar, a city in Shinjang.
  • 5:30 - 5:33
Qashqar, ancient city, is a magical place
  • 5:33 - 5:35
. I wish I could bring all of the world here
  • 5:35 - 5:37
. So many cultures meet here,
  • 5:37 - 5:39
and it's a way for the world to see how
  • 5:39 - 5:41
    cultures can peacefully coexist and
  • 5:41 - 5:45
    exist in harmony.
  • 5:45 - 5:47
and I can't wait to help tell this story
  • 5:47 - 5:48
to the rest of the world, particularly
  • 5:48 - 5:50
    to the English-speaking world.
  • 5:50 - 5:52
Yeah, it's amazing how peacefully people
  • 5:52 - 5:56
can coexist when you round up an entire
  • 5:56 - 5:59
group and send them to Forever Sleepaway Camp
  • 5:59 - 6:02
. Henry's trip was sponsored by, you
  • 6:02 - 6:04
    won't believe this, the Chinese
  • 6:04 - 6:06
    government.
  • 6:06 - 6:08
Here's something I'd like to show the world
  • 6:08 - 6:10
. Magical, ain't it? Since they
  • 6:10 - 6:12
took an entire population and are trying
  • 6:12 - 6:14
to make them disappear. Seeing what this
  • 6:14 - 6:16
publisher did for a free vacation, I
  • 6:16 - 6:18
shudder to think what she'd do for a Klondike bar.
  • 6:20 - 6:22
It's maybe for reasons like this that
  • 6:22 - 6:24
    House Republicans are urging US
  • 6:24 - 6:26
universities to cut ties with the
  • 6:26 - 6:29
    Chinabacked Scholarship Program. That
  • 6:29 - 6:31
would be the China Scholarship Council or CSC
  • 6:31 - 6:34
. Each year, it sponsors hundreds
  • 6:34 - 6:36
of Chinese graduate students to attend
  • 6:36 - 6:38
    US colleges and universities.
  • 6:38 - 6:41
But after graduating, they're required to return
  • 6:41 - 6:44
to China for at least two years, which
  • 6:44 - 6:46
is exciting because who wants to stay
  • 6:46 - 6:48
longer for wild end of the year dorm
  • 6:48 - 6:50
parties when you can go back to an
  • 6:50 - 6:52
abysmal job market and compete with
  • 6:52 - 6:55
hundreds of millions of other desperate young people
  • 6:55 - 6:57
    ? Fun. The House Select
  • 6:57 - 6:58
Committee on the Chinese Communist Party
  • 6:58 - 7:00
describes this as a threat to national
  • 7:00 - 7:04
security since the CSC cooperates with the CCP
  • 7:04 - 7:06
    . Republican Representative John
  • 7:06 - 7:09
Molinar of Michigan, who chairs the committee
  • 7:09 - 7:10
, said CSSE purports to be a
  • 7:10 - 7:12
joint scholarship program between US and
  • 7:12 - 7:14
    Chinese institutions.
  • 7:14 - 7:18
However, in reality, it is a CCP managed technology
  • 7:18 - 7:20
    transfer effort that exploits US
  • 7:20 - 7:23
    institutions and directly supports
  • 7:23 - 7:26
    China's military and scientific growth.
  • 7:26 - 7:28
And they're getting scholarships to do it
  • 7:28 - 7:30
. This is the one time I wish more
  • 7:30 - 7:32
people lied about their ethnicity to try
  • 7:32 - 7:33
    and get scholarships.
  • 7:33 - 7:37
They're not frauds, they're blocking spies.
  • 7:37 - 7:39
    Beyond intellectual theft and espionage,
  • 7:39 - 7:42
there's also the campaign to spy on and
  • 7:42 - 7:44
    intimidate other Chinese students who
  • 7:44 - 7:45
    are critical of the CCP.
  • 7:45 - 7:49
Can't have Chinese students getting a taste of freedom now, can we?
  • 7:49 - 7:51
    But in many cases,
  • 7:51 - 7:53
the students who get a CSSE scholarship
  • 7:53 - 7:55
are forced to do the CCP's dirty work
  • 7:55 - 7:57
    because Chinese police will threaten
  • 7:57 - 8:00
their families back in China if they don't
  • 8:00 - 8:03
. Yes, truly a magical place.
  • 8:03 - 8:05
Now, there's a video I want to show you.
  • 8:05 - 8:08
But first, did you know that every time you go online
  • 8:08 - 8:11
everything you do is potentially compromised? And that's why
  • 8:11 - 8:12
the people at Surf Shark created a VPN
  • 8:12 - 8:15
that keeps your internet activity private and secure
  • 8:15 - 8:16
    . If you're not taking
  • 8:16 - 8:18
    active steps to protect yourself,
  • 8:18 - 8:20
everything you do is being tracked and
  • 8:20 - 8:22
logged by the websites you visit, your
  • 8:22 - 8:25
internet service provider, and often by your own government
  • 8:25 - 8:28
. Using a VPN makes you harder to track
  • 8:28 - 8:31
. Surf Shark has servers you can connect to in over a 100 countries
  • 8:31 - 8:32
, more than any other VPN.
  • 8:32 - 8:36
That includes a server in the British Virgin Islands
  • 8:36 - 8:37
, where the law allows companies
  • 8:37 - 8:39
    to not log user data.
  • 8:39 - 8:42
So stay safe and check out Surf Shark.
  • 8:42 - 8:44
With just one Surf Shark account, you can connect as many
  • 8:44 - 8:46
devices as you want. It also comes with
  • 8:46 - 8:49
a 30-day money back guarantee. Go to
  • 8:49 - 8:51
    surfark.com/unensored
  • 8:51 - 8:53
and use the code uncensored to get up to
  • 8:53 - 8:55
    four months extra.
  • 8:55 - 8:57
The link is in the description below.
  • 8:57 - 9:00
And now for that video. I've discovered that many of you
  • 9:00 - 9:02
don't know I also have a whole other
  • 9:02 - 9:04
    channel about America.
  • 9:04 - 9:08
It's called America Uncovered. Click on this video.
  • 9:08 - 9:11
You won't know whether to laugh or cry.
  • 9:11 - 9:14
Once again, I'm Chris Chapel. See you next time.
