Assessing the credibility of Grievors

How did I assess the credibility of grievors other than listening carefully

to the answers they provided. Did they fit within the context? Did their story vary?

I had people before me that made statements in the beginning, to the employer,

and to the adjudictor and you had three different stories altogether

Likely when that occurs the credibility is pretty shot.

I always found - when I was a rep - in dealing with grievors, if you try to

change the person too much, the way they tell the story, it messes things up.

There's a phrase in french that if you chase away the natural it comes back running

It's important to go through the evidence with the witness

It's important to rehearse.

But don't try to change the way they present themselves.

Generally that doesn't work very well.
