PAPAJI - Grace

  • 0:00 - 0:07
'My question for you is regarding
    the nature of grace.
  • 0:08 - 0:12
"Is grace stronger, or more present,
  • 0:12 - 0:20
"or accessible the closer I am
    physically to you?"
  • 0:23 - 0:31
For the grace, if you stay near the
    teacher physically, or not physically,
  • 0:31 - 0:35
    it doesn't make any difference.
  • 0:38 - 0:39
    And
  • 0:42 - 0:48
if it is available, the physical
presence of a teacher is available,
  • 0:48 - 0:58
so that has to be given preference.
  • 0:58 - 1:09
Because most of the sages and saints
are no more here in this half of this century.
  • 1:09 - 1:16
So if the presence is available,
make the best use of it.
  • 1:16 - 1:28
And later, if the presence is not available,
then it is rather difficult to believe this person,
  • 1:28 - 1:32
because many doubts will come up in the mind.
  • 1:32 - 1:37
But in the presence you can give your
doubt, and they will be answered.
  • 1:37 - 1:40
And your doubts will be cleared.
  • 1:40 - 1:47
So make the best use of the physical
    presence of a teacher
  • 1:47 - 1:54
And for grace, it doesn't matter whether
there is a teacher or no teacher,
  • 1:54 - 2:00
but it is very rare because
    some people say,
  • 2:00 - 2:07
"I have never seen the Buddha.
    I was not there.
  • 2:07 - 2:14
"And if I had been there, I would
    have been very much benefitted."
  • 2:14 - 2:23
And if the Buddha was there and
those people who were near him:
  • 2:23 - 2:28
Kashyapa was there, Ananda was there,
    and many other were there,
  • 2:28 - 2:35
    and they have enjoyed the
benefit of his presence, you see?
  • 2:35 - 2:44
And even at the time of his nirvana,
    Mahas, Mahāparinirvana Day,
  • 2:44 - 2:55
he was lying, and the death was very near,
and some man came to see him,
  • 2:55 - 3:02
    and somebody asked him,
"The Master is dying in a moment."
  • 3:02 - 3:08
    But Buddha had seen.
    He said, "Call him here."
  • 3:08 - 3:18
So all the doubts which he had, they were
cleared, and Buddha lost his breath forever.
  • 3:18 - 3:30
But that presence made instantly 500 people,
those who were near him, were enlightened.
  • 3:30 - 3:34
With his first sermon, you see.
  • 3:34 - 3:44
But later on, when he passed away, many
more millions are being benefitted by him,
  • 3:44 - 3:57
as Bodhidharma went to China to spread the
message of love, and freedom, and peace.
  • 3:57 - 4:04
And he has seen the Emperor of China,
    and who was very impressed.
  • 4:04 - 4:12
And his age, when he went, crossed over
the Himalayas, his age was 80 years, you see.
  • 4:12 - 4:16
And for 40 years, he stayed there,
    you see.
  • 4:16 - 4:19
    Preaching the Gospel of Love.
  • 4:19 - 4:30
    And whole China, Japan, Cambodia,
and all this, Bhurma, all this Asia was,
  • 4:30 - 4:33
became the followers of the Buddha.
  • 4:33 - 4:39
    And many more are being
    benefitted in his absence also.
  • 4:42 - 4:45
    So if you have occasion,
    don't miss it, you see.
  • 4:45 - 4:50
"When I am near you I feel changes
    in my body and brain,
  • 4:50 - 5:01
"and it seems like the closer I am to
you, the stronger these sensations are.
  • 5:01 - 5:09
"At the same time, I think that if I,
if time and space are illusions,
  • 5:09 - 5:14
"then your grace should be present,
    in all times and places,
  • 5:14 - 5:20
"and is within me, wherever I might be."
  • 5:20 - 5:23
So this is correct, you see.
  • 5:23 - 5:26
Actually there's no time and no space.
  • 5:26 - 5:30
This is a concept of the mind.
  • 5:30 - 5:40
So when you go across, or beyond the time
and space, then this illusion vanishes.
  • 5:40 - 5:48
So at that time you must be sure
that you have nothing to do more,
  • 5:48 - 5:51
    nor to achieve anything.
  • 5:51 - 5:57
    You have achieved, achieved and
    attained everything that was worth
  • 5:57 - 6:00
    in this human incarnation.
  • 6:00 - 6:07
"But this is just my thinking. My experience
is that the closer I am to you physically,
  • 6:07 - 6:13
    "the more I feel changes.
So what is the nature of grace?"
  • 6:13 - 6:23
So nature of grace is to enlighten
    a person finally,
  • 6:23 - 6:31
    to not to be re-incarnate,
    any time, in next world.
  • 6:31 - 6:41
So you have to be fully in trust with
this thing, 'I have not to be reborn.'
  • 6:41 - 6:49
And not only that, even this
    present birth is an illusion.
  • 6:49 - 6:55
    And then you got sure
    that all this world;
  • 6:55 - 7:01
    universe, sun, moon,
    stars, is only an illusion.
  • 7:01 - 7:06
Because when you think, then only you
can see these forms and names.
  • 7:06 - 7:12
    And when you don't think,
    nothing is visible.
