PAPAJI - Nothing is out of Consciousness

  • 0:55 - 0:59
    Where is the light?
  • 0:59 - 1:09
Without looking, its reflection on an object,
    you can't see.
  • 1:09 - 1:18
    Light you can't see
unless it reflects on some object,
  • 1:18 - 1:23
    maybe persons, maybe mountains,
    maybe animals,
  • 1:23 - 1:28
then you see light, you see light.
  • 1:30 - 1:35
    (With) this consciousness,
    how do you become different?
  • 1:35 - 1:39
You see, there is a calm ocean.
  • 1:39 - 1:43
The ocean is calm. No waves.
  • 1:46 - 1:52
It has (the) potentiality of waves
    within the ocean.
  • 2:01 - 2:03
    It's a calm ocean.
  • 2:03 - 2:08
    When the wave rises,
  • 2:08 - 2:14
it finds itself that it is separate
    from the ocean -
  • 2:14 - 2:18
    by name and form.
  • 2:21 - 2:23
    So consciousness,
  • 2:23 - 2:29
    how do you separate
    yourself from conscious? How?
  • 2:31 - 2:35
How you separate yourself from consciousness
  • 2:35 - 2:37
and gather here to return to consciousness,
  • 2:37 - 2:45
what is the difficulty, let us explain.
  • 2:45 - 2:55
    The consciousness,
when it reflects within the consciousness
  • 2:55 - 3:00
it will shine as consciousness itself,
  • 3:00 - 3:04
    (and) there arises the notion.
  • 3:04 - 3:07
    Consciousness reflecting into the consciousness
  • 3:07 - 3:11
    and shining as consciousness,
  • 3:11 - 3:17
there arises the motion 'I am'.
  • 3:19 - 3:26
    You have separated from consciousness
  • 3:26 - 3:31
which has no name and no form.
  • 3:31 - 3:40
    The notion 'I am'
    instantly creates this manifestation.
  • 3:42 - 3:48
You begin with earth, water, fire, air, ether,
  • 3:48 - 3:53
    and then objects,
  • 3:53 - 3:56
(and then) we see the differences.
  • 3:56 - 3:59
    You see the difference.
  • 3:59 - 4:05
    We see the difference
    because of names and forms.
  • 4:07 - 4:13
Consciousness is reflecting on the objects
  • 4:13 - 4:18
that it has created with the notion 'I am',
  • 4:18 - 4:21
    all manifestation, with everything,
  • 4:21 - 4:25
with Creator and up to the blade of grass,
  • 4:25 - 4:31
everything that 'I am' has done.
  • 4:31 - 4:36
When there are clouds in the space,
  • 4:36 - 4:40
    how is the space disturbed?
  • 4:40 - 4:45
With the movement of the cloud,
    space is not disturbed.
  • 4:45 - 4:49
    So, likewise, this consciousness,
  • 4:49 - 4:53
which has no name and no form,
    is not disturbed.
  • 4:53 - 4:56
So, many people are like other-ness.
  • 4:56 - 5:03
This 'I am' looks like the other-ness,
  • 5:03 - 5:05
is created in the form of waves
  • 5:05 - 5:12
    and ripples and eddies
    and so many other things.
  • 5:12 - 5:14
Clearly, seeing there is no difference
  • 5:14 - 5:20
    between anybody and the conscious.
  • 5:20 - 5:28
The wise man, howsoever (he) may be wise,
    he is ignorant,
  • 5:28 - 5:32
if he does not find that he is Consciousness,
  • 5:32 - 5:40
he is Emptiness, he is Self,
    he is Absolute Brahman.
  • 5:40 - 5:45
    He is termed as ignorant.
    This is ignorance.
  • 5:45 - 5:53
And this superimposition is a notion
  • 5:53 - 5:58
    that has been created, actually.
  • 5:58 - 6:01
    Nothing is out of consciousness.
  • 6:01 - 6:06
    Nothing is out of Absoluteness.
  • 6:09 - 6:15
This is imagination that you conceive
  • 6:15 - 6:17
that you are separate from your own Self.
  • 6:17 - 6:22
    How can it be possible?
  • 6:22 - 6:26
Where did you get this notion,
    "I am separate,"
  • 6:26 - 6:31
and then get into never-ending suffering?
  • 6:31 - 6:36
Then you create your own cycle
    of birth and death
  • 6:36 - 6:40
    and never-ending suffering.
  • 6:43 - 6:47
This motion also does not exist.
  • 6:47 - 6:51
    This also does not exist.
  • 6:51 - 6:56
This universe has never been created.
  • 6:56 - 7:01
There are no forms and there are no names.
  • 7:01 - 7:04
    This is your own creation.
  • 7:04 - 7:10
    When you are quiet
    you don't see the manifestation,
  • 7:10 - 7:12
and you say, "I am happy."
  • 7:12 - 7:22
This happiness is your own nature.
    You are That.
  • 7:22 - 7:29
So, how do you become entangled with,
  • 7:29 - 7:35
    "I am not consciousness.
    I am separate."
  • 7:35 - 7:40
Where did you borrow this concept
  • 7:40 - 7:44
    of separateness and suffering?
  • 7:44 - 7:53
    Once you rid yourself
    of this notion of separation
  • 7:53 - 7:58
you are free here and now.
    You are not to wait.
  • 7:58 - 8:03
You are not to wait for time,
  • 8:03 - 8:06
and there is no time here also.
  • 8:06 - 8:09
When you make up your mind
  • 8:09 - 8:14
you have to only return back,
  • 8:14 - 8:18
return back to your own status,
  • 8:18 - 8:24
    before this trouble
    created by your own self.
  • 8:29 - 8:40
If you see the very source
of the emergence of 'I am' notion,
  • 8:40 - 8:46
you will instantly see who you are.
  • 8:46 - 8:53
So, go back to the original notion
  • 8:53 - 8:58
that arose from the nameless and formless
  • 8:58 - 9:03
    calm waveless ocean.
  • 9:03 - 9:06
    Go back,
  • 9:08 - 9:15
return at the source of 'I Am'.
  • 9:17 - 9:21
    What do you see?
  • 9:29 - 9:39
You will return to your own
    original Eternal state.
  • 9:39 - 9:42
That's all you have to do.
  • 9:44 - 9:48
    Why hang on to suffering?
  • 9:48 - 9:52
This is in your own hand.
  • 9:52 - 9:55
As you made a choice to separate,
  • 9:55 - 10:03
you can now make a choice
    to remove the separation.
  • 10:03 - 10:07
    This separation can be removed.
  • 10:07 - 10:11
As soon as you decide, return here.
  • 10:14 - 10:19
    It doesn't need any practice,
  • 10:19 - 10:26
any time, any tradition, any teaching.
  • 10:31 - 10:42
This alone (is a) personal endeavour
    to cross this ocean,
  • 10:42 - 10:49
endless ocean called ghost of samsara.
  • 10:49 - 10:55
The child sees a ghost in the room.
    Actually, ghost does not exist.
  • 10:55 - 11:00
This ghost also does not exist.
  • 11:00 - 11:05
    (It's) your own creation here.
  • 11:07 - 11:12
    Look unto your own Self,
  • 11:12 - 11:16
    look unto your own Self
    and be happy and peaceful.
  • 11:16 - 11:19
    That is all.
  • 11:21 - 11:25
    So, you don't see it,
    as you don't see light,
  • 11:25 - 11:31
    unless you see an object
    you don't see that,
  • 11:31 - 11:34
    like this is consciousness.
  • 11:34 - 11:38
    Only when it reflects
on your own notion of separation
  • 11:38 - 11:41
    then only you can see.
  • 11:41 - 11:44
    You cannot see consciousness,
  • 11:44 - 11:50
    You cannot see the light
    unless there is an object.
  • 11:50 - 11:54
As in the crystal you see the reflected image
  • 11:54 - 12:00
in a crystal it looks very real, very real.
  • 12:00 - 12:06
In the mirror, you see your face,
it is very real in front of you.
  • 12:06 - 12:11
In the mirror, you look at your face,
    it is very real.
  • 12:11 - 12:18
But if the mirror is placed
    in front of (another) mirror,
  • 12:18 - 12:21
    what is seen there?
  • 12:21 - 12:29
The mirror in front of (another) mirror,
    what do you see?
  • 12:29 - 12:35
    Reflection of the one mirror,
  • 12:35 - 12:38
the same reflection from the other mirror,
  • 12:38 - 12:42
    this is consciousness.
  • 12:42 - 12:46
    When you look,
when you look in the mirror,
  • 12:46 - 12:50
    conscious onto the consciousness,
  • 12:50 - 12:55
    it shines only as consciousness
    and nothing else.
  • 12:59 - 13:06
    So, from the beginning,
from the beginning you are free.
  • 13:06 - 13:12
    Just for your own pleasure,
    for your own game
  • 13:12 - 13:17
you have created all this manifestation.
    And you forgot.
  • 13:17 - 13:21
    In the game you forgot
  • 13:21 - 13:25
    and starts the separation.
  • 13:25 - 13:29
    This was your own creation.
    You created it to play.
  • 13:29 - 13:34
You can't stay alone, this was boredom,
  • 13:34 - 13:38
so you created all these things yourself.
  • 13:38 - 13:44
You forgot and again became miserable.
  • 13:44 - 13:48
A child goes on the beach.
  • 13:48 - 13:50
    On the sand he plays.
  • 13:50 - 13:57
On the sand he makes houses
    and makes gardens.
  • 13:57 - 14:01
As a child you may have played on the beach.
  • 14:01 - 14:06
And then they cooked food also,
    all of sand.
  • 14:06 - 14:09
And they get so much lost
    and attached to that
  • 14:09 - 14:13
they don't like to return home.
  • 14:13 - 14:17
    Then the mother tells,
"It's dark now, let's go back home."
  • 14:17 - 14:20
    What do the children do?
  • 14:20 - 14:23
    They have been very happy
    with their own houses,
  • 14:23 - 14:26
with their own gardens and kitchen and food,
  • 14:26 - 14:30
    they're inviting friends also.
  • 14:30 - 14:33
The mother says, "We are getting late."
  • 14:33 - 14:39
And the same child destroys with his foot
  • 14:39 - 14:41
    everything that is constructed.
  • 14:41 - 14:45
And he is happy with this destruction.
  • 14:45 - 14:53
He is as happy as he was
with the construction of the houses.
  • 14:53 - 14:56
    Only reminder is necessary.
  • 14:56 - 15:01
    The mother reminded,
"It's getting late; let us go home."
  • 15:01 - 15:07
    And the child enjoyed,
    (with) the same happiness,
  • 15:07 - 15:13
destroying all that he had made,
    with the same pleasure;
  • 15:13 - 15:17
    with more pleasure he says,
    "Come on, let's go."
  • 15:17 - 15:23
Like this, if will you see,
    you will be very happy.
  • 15:23 - 15:27
    Never you have seen peace.
  • 15:27 - 15:33
When you remove all this notion of separation
  • 15:33 - 15:39
you will become one with absolute fullness,
  • 15:39 - 15:43
    perfection, fulfillment.
  • 15:46 - 15:51
    In limitlessness,
what is there that you need?
  • 15:51 - 15:55
You are perfect. You are full.
  • 15:55 - 15:58
    Emperor of emperors.
  • 15:58 - 16:01
You are full. You can't have any desire
  • 16:01 - 16:04
    to acquire this apartment
    and that apartment.
  • 16:04 - 16:10
You know all the land belongs to you.
  • 16:10 - 16:14
So, how simple it is, they say it is,
  • 16:14 - 16:18
    to know your own Self,
to return to your own Conscious.
  • 16:18 - 16:25
To be at peace is the happiest event
  • 16:25 - 16:28
that a man can do in the world.
  • 16:28 - 16:32
Because you are not to go anywhere else,
  • 16:32 - 16:39
you are not to do anything
to return to your own Self.
  • 16:39 - 16:45
Easiest of all, it is said, it is most easy.
  • 16:45 - 16:48
You have not to do anything.
  • 16:48 - 16:53
Not even to give rise to any thought.
  • 16:53 - 16:57
To that extent you have not to exert.
  • 16:57 - 17:00
    No effort, even to think.
  • 17:00 - 17:02
Other things you have to think
  • 17:02 - 17:07
and then you have to put yourself
    into that business
  • 17:07 - 17:10
and then do and get lost in that.
  • 17:10 - 17:16
    But here, you try,
    do not give rise even to thought;
  • 17:16 - 17:19
even that is too much effort.
  • 17:19 - 17:24
    Even to twinkle your eye
even that is too much effort for you,
  • 17:24 - 17:26
    even to twinkle an eye.
  • 17:26 - 17:33
Even to breathe is too much effort,
    even to take breath.
  • 17:33 - 17:36
    You find your own nature.
  • 17:36 - 17:41
    There cannot be anything else
more easier than to be at peace,
  • 17:41 - 17:47
    than to get disturbed.
  • 17:47 - 17:55
For disturbance, you have to get
so many things in front of you,
  • 17:55 - 18:00
    digging from the past
    and then only you suffer.
  • 18:00 - 18:07
Bringing so many things in front of you
    and you struggle with these.
  • 18:07 - 18:12
But here, you have not to do anything.
    You may try.
  • 18:12 - 18:16
    Just don't think.
  • 18:16 - 18:19
    Tell me if you suffer.
  • 18:27 - 18:34
    Oh, how much is it,
without doing anything you are happy.
  • 18:37 - 18:43
    But with doing any thing,
    that brings you hell.
  • 18:43 - 18:48
Anything you bring in this peace,
    it brings hell.
  • 18:48 - 18:52
First of all, it brought the manifestation.
  • 18:52 - 19:00
    With a single thought
    it brought total manifestations
  • 19:00 - 19:05
    with the beginning not known,
    millions of years,
  • 19:05 - 19:08
and it continued for millions of years
    in the future,
  • 19:08 - 19:11
    that much you have created
    by a single...
  • 19:11 - 19:18
only creating this notion, that 'I'. That's all.
  • 19:21 - 19:26
if you don't address yourself as 'I',
    let us see what happens.
  • 19:26 - 19:29
    Anyone of you can try.
  • 19:29 - 19:39
    Don't address, don't give rise
to this ripple 'I', this notion 'I'.
  • 19:39 - 19:43
Look before the rise of this motion
  • 19:43 - 19:48
and tell me, tell me how do you suffer.
  • 19:48 - 19:52
Who is suffering? Who are you?
  • 19:55 - 20:00
Could there be anything easier than this?
  • 20:00 - 20:03
Even just to eat you have to go to a restaurant
  • 20:03 - 20:06
and wait there and call and see the menu
  • 20:06 - 20:11
and call the waitier and waste time.
  • 20:17 - 20:23
    Here, wherever you are,
just spend only a few seconds.
  • 20:23 - 20:28
They say how much time is needed
    to find this peace.,
  • 20:28 - 20:31
how much tim, whwt it is.
  • 20:31 - 20:36
Who were you and what you have become?
    Total manifestation.
  • 20:38 - 20:40
    For instance,
  • 20:42 - 20:47
you see, you pick up a mustard seed
    in your hand.
  • 20:47 - 20:52
    Mustard seed, you understand?
Mustard seed or any rai seed?
  • 20:52 - 21:01
Or any simlar seed or any seed,
    pick up the seed.
  • 21:01 - 21:06
    Smallest item is a seed.
    Mustard seed is small.
  • 21:11 - 21:13
    Some other seed, minute seed,
  • 21:13 - 21:20
so take that seed, divide it into two.
  • 21:20 - 21:25
And take to your own self this simile.
  • 21:27 - 21:34
    Divided it into two.
Take this half and quarter it, divide it.
  • 21:34 - 21:41
Then, subdivide it into one-thousandth parts again
  • 21:41 - 21:45
You have seen a mustard seed?
    Or may I show you?
  • 21:45 - 21:49
Have you seen, all of you, a mustard seed?
    No?
  • 21:49 - 21:53
You can get one mustard seed.
  • 21:53 - 21:57
Just to show you the mustard seed,
  • 21:57 - 22:01
    so that you will understand
  • 22:01 - 22:04
what you have to concentrate upon.
  • 22:04 - 22:08
    So subtle. So subtle.
  • 22:08 - 22:13
I want only one. Not all of it.
  • 22:19 - 22:23
    Show them this.
  • 22:25 - 22:28
    This is a...
  • 22:30 - 22:33
This is a mustard seed. Can you take?
  • 22:33 - 22:39
See, this is a mustard seed.
Have you seen this? Take any seed.
  • 22:39 - 22:43
This is a mustard seed, okay.
    Keep it in your hand.
  • 22:43 - 22:46
    Divide it into half.
  • 22:48 - 22:50
    Divide it into half.
  • 22:50 - 22:56
    Take half of it
and subdivide it into 1,000 parts.
  • 23:00 - 23:02
Take one of the thousandth part,
  • 23:02 - 23:07
subdivide it into one million parts.
  • 23:10 - 23:15
    One million parts of this.
  • 23:19 - 23:26
    Then one of tenth thousandth
    into one million times,
  • 23:28 - 23:32
    because you can't, you can't.
  • 23:32 - 23:35
    Nothing. It will disappear.
  • 23:35 - 23:38
There may be something, some particle,
  • 23:38 - 23:42
Nothing can be destroyed in this world.
  • 23:42 - 23:46
Further divided it a million times.
  • 23:46 - 23:49
    If this concept comes,
  • 23:49 - 23:54
if you have done it even by imagination,
  • 23:54 - 23:59
concentrate on that if you want to do anything.
  • 23:59 - 24:04
If you want to do practice,
    concentrate on that,
  • 24:04 - 24:08
on one billionth part of a mustard seed.
  • 24:08 - 24:12
    Concentrate on that
and then tell me, what do you see?
  • 24:12 - 24:18
Where is the seer and where is the seen.
  • 24:20 - 24:28
So much subtle is your force
  • 24:28 - 24:32
    from where emerges this 'I'
  • 24:32 - 24:35
and then the manifestation into the...
  • 24:35 - 24:40
Even within the seed, there is a whole tree,
  • 24:40 - 24:42
    it sprouts into a tree,
  • 24:42 - 24:47
in the seed sprouts a tree
with the same fruits and the seed.
  • 24:47 - 24:52
This is the manifest, from nothingness, you see.
  • 24:56 - 25:01
    How can you see yourself
unless you have a concept of emptiness,
  • 25:01 - 25:06
how can you see anything. Tell me.
  • 25:06 - 25:10
Even your own body how can you see
  • 25:10 - 25:17
unless you see the background of emptiness.
  • 25:17 - 25:23
You can't see that you are your Self.
  • 25:30 - 25:37
    So here, there's no chance
    of even mind thinking anything.
  • 25:37 - 25:42
This, you can't even think what you are.
  • 25:42 - 25:47
    Therefore, this process is happening.
  • 25:49 - 25:55
    Because you think,
you are in this trouble, in this problem,
  • 25:55 - 26:00
    because of thinking.
  • 26:00 - 26:10
So, give up this thinking and see,
give it a try, any time you like.
