A Igreja e seu Senhor

Em Efésios 1:20-23, Paulo, ao falar sobre a exaltação de Jesus, conclui dizendo que Deus o pôs como cabeça da Igreja. Se a Igreja é faz parte do ápice da exaltação de Jesus, precisamos descobrir o tesouro que há nela.

"And God placed all things under his feet

and appointed him

to be head over everything for the church,

which is his body,

the fullness of him

who fills everything in every way.

After this exalxation of Christ,

it goes round and round

to say that Jesus was designated

head over the church.

The church is part of the apex

of Christ's exaltation.

Jesus's glorification.

He was humiliated, then exalted.

And part of Jesus's exaltation,

in the climax of the elevation,

is being head over the church.

The church is Christ's glory.

The church is the Lord's joy.

To the church was offered a title,

the Lord of all things gave that title.

Someone could say:

"He's got all the power."

All the power is a lot of power!

Isn't that right?

All the power is everything.

It isn't "a lot of power",

it is everything!

All the power! Everything!

He was given the name

that is above every name.

He is above all principalities and powers.

It would already be enough.

But Paul finishes like this:

Among all things,

He was appointed as head over the church.

What the church has got to do with it?

Why the church is in the apex

of Jesus's exaltation?

Great is the value of the church.

Also, in Ephesians,

chapter 3, verse 10:

"So that, through the church,

the manifold wisdom of God

should be made known."

By the church.

This is the value, the preciousness,

the abundance there is within the church.

But what church is?

We know that a church is not a building,

an institution, an statute, a company.

Church is people.

The church is us.

It's me, you, together. Not isolated.

We are living stones of the house of God.

Which is being built.

Alone, I am not church.

You are not church if you are alone.

But together,

we are living stones of the sanctuary

that is being edified for God.

God's home.

That is the church.

Linked people, people connected

one to each other, united.

And that is Jesus's purpose.

Just before being killed,

Jesus prays to the Father:

So they can be one, for the world to believe.

That's church.

People, unity, linked people,

people walking together,

around Jesus.

That is church.

"For where two or three gather in my name,

there am I with them.”

There is an special presence of Jesus.

When there is only one person

in my name,

it still won't be the church.

The church happens when there are two.

Two people, even in a hotel,

or at home, in a square,

in a park, anywhere.

If there are two people, united,

because of Jesus,

there is the church.

If Jesus is the reason,

there will be church.
