Title:
'Speak Up for Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) school strategies
Description:

DLD (Developmental Language Disorder) is a difficulty with understanding and using words and sentences. And classrooms are full of words and sentences. Teachers talk! Students talk! And of course there is written work as well.
This means that school can be challenging for children and young people with DLD. It doesn't mean they can't learn. It means they need some simple strategies to support their learning.
Having someone read her questions in tests helps Maisie (from the UK). Paula form Peru/US was helped by having extra time to show what she knew. Serena from Australia asks for more support and more patience for her son. Talk to people with DLD individually to find out what helps them most, but we have also produced some general strategies. These are available on our website: https://radld.org/dld-education-strategies/ (or search 'radld education strategies')
