Hi! I am Joe Palanzo of the World Wide Kenpo
Karate Association in conjunction with Expert
-
Village; I want to welcome you today. The
technique that was just demonstrated is called
-
parting wings and it is a defense against
the two hand push out. In other words, when
-
the push occurs at the shoulder and I can
get my hands on the inside. This is called
-
an open ended triangle, and it is actually
four spaces that have two sides. The options
-
in case his hands are closer together having
more leverage to separate or I can go straight
-
into the face. So, on the first move, as he
drops back I strike here and try to get enough
-
space inside the arms as he comes forward,
and as his body will continue to come forward
-
I need to stop it. So this hand as it travels
over here perhaps can hook his eye to divert
-
his head, and I stop him with a major move,
which is a hand sword coming onto the heart
-
or the floating ribs. If you want to bring
it from the outside but it will stop him.
-
This hand is chambered over here in a defensive
posture, and I have changed stances from a
-
neutral to four blow to give me some force.
I might grab a bit of the armpit here, and
-
as I pull I am going to strike him in the
throat with a hand sword, and again I have
-
chambered by right hand back here in preparation
for the next move. This hand is going to go
-
down the body as a check and also positional
check against his legs as I use a middle finger
-
strike to the solar plexus, and this usually
penetrates and does the job. So again the
-
first four basic moves are separate, stop
with a hand sword, chop to the throat, and
-
strike to the solar plexus and then cover
to a safe position. This is parting wings.
