উত্তর ২৪ পরগনার প্রাচীন শহর গোবরডাঙার গোষ্ঠবিহার মেলা এক ঐতিহাসিক ও সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্যের প্রতীক। ১৮২২ সালে জমিদার কালীপ্রসন্ন মুখোপাধ্যায় প্রতিষ্ঠিত প্রসন্নময়ী কালীমন্দির ও দ্বাদশ শিবমন্দিরকে ঘিরে এই মেলার সূচনা। একসময় বাংলা নববর্ষে খাজনা দিতে আসা প্রজাদের জন্য আয়োজন করা হতো এই মেলা—যা আজ রূপ নিয়েছে এক বর্ণময় লোকজ উৎসবে।

প্রতি বছর ১ বৈশাখ বসে এই প্রাণবন্ত হাট, যেখানে পাওয়া যায় বাংলার হারিয়ে যাওয়া লোকশিল্পের নানা নিদর্শন—মাটির হাঁড়ি-কলসি, বাঁশ-বেতের সামগ্রী, কাঠ ও লোহার তৈরী আসবাব, আর ঐতিহ্যবাহী হাতপাখা। মেলাকে ঘিরে আয়োজিত হয় নাটক, গান, কবিতা পাঠ, প্রভাতফেরি, রক্তদান শিবির এবং গুণীজনদের সংবর্ধনা। এই মেলা শুধু একটি উৎসব নয়, এটি গোবরডাঙার ইতিহাস ও সংস্কৃতির ধারক-বাহক।

Nestled in the historic town of Gobardanga in North 24 Parganas, the Goshthi Bihar Mela is a vibrant symbol of Bengal’s cultural legacy. Originating in 1822 around the Prosannomoyee Kali Temple and the twelve Shiva temples founded by zamindar Kaliprosanna Mukhopadhyay, this fair has evolved from a simple gathering of tenants paying rent on the Bengali New Year into a colorful celebration of rural and folk traditions.

Held every year on Poila Boishakh (Bengali New Year), the fair features an artisan market bursting with traditional crafts—clay pots, bamboo and cane items, wooden and iron furniture, and iconic hand fans of Bengal. Enriching performances of theatre, music, poetry, morning processions, blood donation camps, and felicitation ceremonies continue to highlight the cultural significance of this historic event.
