During a Kan 11 News report on the 30th anniversary of the Oslo Accords, former Israeli minister and negotiator of the accords Yossi Beilin said the "biggest mistake" Palestinians made was believing that Israel would freeze the construction of settlements.

The Oslo Accords were signed in 1993 by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Israel, with the aim of establishing peace between the two sides and transferring power and responsibilities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank from Israel to the Palestinians, leading to the creation of the Palestinian Authority (PA).

But decades later Israeli occupation continues, with frequent deadly raids by the Israeli army in Palestinian towns and the continued expansion of illegal Israeli settlements
