Not every story about narcissism is as simple as it seems.

Behind the walls and defenses, many people with narcissistic traits carry a deep fear of rejection, shame, and not being enough. What looks like arrogance or coldness on the surface can sometimes be an armor built over years of hidden hurt.

This doesn’t excuse harmful behavior — but it does invite a more compassionate understanding of where it can come from. Sometimes the people who seem the hardest to reach are the ones who once felt the most invisible.
