Rianna Cleary, who was 18 at the time, gave birth to her daughter Aisha alone in a Surrey prison cell after officers ignored her calls for help.

Janey Starling from @levelup_uk is calling for an end to the imprisonment of pregnant women. She tells Novara Media: “Pregnant women in prison are seven times more likely to have a stillbirth, twice as likely to give birth prematurely, and five times more likely to miss midwifery appointments due to short staffing inside prisons.”
