Montgomery resident Clara Anne Day married Myron Turner in May of 1949. Decades later, Anne donated her wedding dress to the Alabama Department of Archives and History (ADAH). Called the “Merci Train dress” by ADAH staff, the gown caught the interest of collections curator Jenna Abbott. Her presentation will explore the dress’s unexpected connection to an anti-Communist campaign headed by a Washington political columnist and how it, along with a small collection of French objects, came to the ADAH. The program will stream live on Facebook and YouTube, and a recording will be available after the presentation.
