Proud to be TED Translators | Mahmoud Aghiorly
-
Not SyncedMy name is Mahmoud Aghiorly
-
Not Syncedand I am a volunteer translator with TED.
-
Not SyncedI am from Syria,
-
Not Syncedand I am from the city called Aleppo,
located on the North. -
Not SyncedThis city is an ancient city
-
Not SyncedActually, it's been there 3,000 years
-
Not Syncedbut now within 4 years
everything's just finished. -
Not SyncedMost of my places in memories and
buildings that I loved, are destroyed. -
Not SyncedAnd they're just bent down,
or bombed, or just throwing. -
Not SyncedThese places are not there right now
-
Not SyncedWe told Adam so many stories
-
Not Syncedbut actually, it's very difficult for us
-
Not Syncedthat he can't live in there.
-
Not SyncedAnd it touched me in my heart.
-
Not SyncedActually, as a woman and as a mother that
-
Not Syncedmy baby wouldn't have the ability to visit
his father's places or mother's places. -
Not Syncedso yeah
-
Not SyncedMe and my brother were posted in engineers
-
Not Syncedand we were dreaming actually to have
an engineering consultant obviously -
Not Syncedbut the engineering office was
in the middle and heated area -
Not Syncedso it was also mostly destroyed.
-
Not SyncedSo I think even you imagine
future is destroyed or bent down -
Not SyncedI spent around 5 years into it
-
Not Syncedthen I immigrate to Australia by 2015.
-
Not SyncedWe came here on the second day
of November. -
Not SyncedLast year, everthing was dark
-
Not Syncedand when the sun rises,
it is a new life. -
Not SyncedEverything seems beautiful,
-
Not Syncedeverything is green with so much flowers.
-
Not SyncedWe want Adam to live in a better world
-
Not SyncedWe want him to have a great life.
-
Not SyncedAnd I think that he was the main reason
why we took that immigrated decision. -
Not SyncedIt was not an easy decision to take.
-
Not SyncedMoving to another country, that is
totally different what we used to, -
Not Syncedis not that easy.
-
Not SyncedWe are so happy right now,
-
Not Syncedand we know what we did
is for us and for Adam as well. -
Not SyncedStarting from February to August,
-
Not SyncedI was searching everyday and
sending around 10 or 12 CVs. -
Not SyncedActually, the main advice is
to change my name -
Not Syncedbecause Madmoud sounds
so much traditional. -
Not SyncedThe second advice they asked me
to hide my place of birth, -
Not Syncedand my origin of my certificate.
-
Not SyncedThey told me that nation
makes me think about Syria. -
Not SyncedI didn't choose the country
that I was born in. -
Not SyncedAnd I didn't choose my name.
-
Not SyncedSo, people are judging me
with things that I didn't choose. -
Not SyncedI choose how I'm going to
deal with the problems, -
Not Syncedand having a proper channel for new ideas.
-
Not SyncedIt is very essential for people
who are coming from a war zone, -
Not Syncedand people who are coming
from a lost path. -
Not SyncedTed will provide you
a proper channel of many ideas -
Not Syncedfrom every people around the world.
-
Not SyncedYou can directly relate to someone
who is facing the same problem, -
Not Syncedto someone who just immigrates
to the new country, -
Not Syncedto someone who is starting a new family,
or some who's facing problems. -
Not SyncedMahmoud has a great way
of loving and giving. -
Not SyncedAnd I think volunteering is a way
of loving and giving. -
Not SyncedTranslating a language to another language
is a great boat. -
