In this week's video,
-
I'm gonna show you a drill that you can do
-
to flip a defensive position into an attacking position in singles.
-
Coach Alen from Targets,
-
I'm here,
-
and thanks for joining us for this week's video.
-
The drill that we're gonna do today
-
is called lob and follow.
-
So how it's gonna work,
-
Carwin is gonna start right by the net
-
with this racket touching the net tape,
-
and I'm gonna start back at the baseline.
-
I'm gonna play a lob feet to start the point.
-
Carwin's gonna go back and retrieve the lob,
-
and I'm gonna follow that feet to the net.
-
So, it should look a little bit like this.
-
Right.
-
The aim of this drill
-
is to flip defense into attack.
-
So at the start of the point,
-
you're in a very defensive position.
-
Your opponent's at the net;
-
you're back at the baseline.
-
By playing a good lob that goes over your opponent's head
-
and transitioning into the net,
-
you've now got yourself into a dominant attacking net position.
-
We almost certainly know that that lob retrieval
-
of our opponents is gonna be quite weak.
-
It's gonna be quite floaty,
-
unless they pull off the greatest Hollywood shot in history.
-
But if they don't,
-
then we're gonna almost certainly get an easy put away volley,
-
which we can kill.
-
Thank you so much for watching this week's video.
-
Big thanks to Coach Carwin,
-
who came along today to help out with
-
the hitting and the demonstrations in the video.
