A bicentennial commemoration of the Marquis de Lafayette's 1825 tour of Alabama was held in the Old House Chamber of the Alabama State Capitol on April 3rd, 2025.
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, Associate Supreme Court Justice Will Sellers, Alabama Society DAR State Regent Malinda Lydia Williams, and Col. Alan B. Miller, President & CEO of American Village, offered remarks, and the program also included a special appearance by historical interpreter Michael Halbert as the Marquis de Lafayette.
The event was sponsored by the Alabama Department of Archives & History, the Alabama Historical Commission, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Children of the American Revolution.
