President Worthen has launched an initiative that seeks to transform the educational experience for thousands of BYU students by providing them with life-changing, experiential learning opportunities. The Inspiring Learning initiative will increase university funding for mentoring, research collaborations, hands-on experiences, and other innovative programs that facilitate learning outside the classroom.

In this 2017 video, students from colleges across the BYU campus share their own transformative experiences with mentoring and experiential learning.

According to President Worthen, the roots of the Inspiring Learning initiative lie in BYU's mission statement and Aims of a BYU Education, which state that a BYU education should be "spiritually strengthening, intellectually enlarging and character building, and lead to life-long learning and service."
