Hi.
I'm John Coletta.
-
I'm the managing partner and
executive chef
-
of Quartino Ristorante here in Chicago.
-
We're located on the corner
of Ontario and State Street.
-
Today we're going to talk about how to
eat pasta by spinning it with a fork.
-
Now there's two methods.
-
The first method begins by just
taking the fork
-
and just ever so easily
putting it onto the plate.
-
OK? And as you can see,
you've completed the job.
-
Now, if we want even less,
obviously take less.
-
But the big piece is not
to be afraid of this.
-
Anybody can do this.
My kids do this all the time.
-
And as you can see,
it's easily achievable.
-
Another way to do it is you take a spoon
in your left hand if you're right handed
-
and now you place the spaghetti onto
the fork and continue to twirl this.
-
And as you can see, you've
got the same result.
-
The spoon acts as guidance.
OK?
-
The more seasoned pasta eater obviously
-
wants to show off and wants to do
this all by his self or herself.
-
OK? And you can see
how simple that is. OK?
-
And again, it shouldn't be intimidating.
OK?
-
Don't consider using a knife
by any means to cut the pasta,
-
but continuing to twirl it will give
you the results you're looking for.
-
Should you have a challenge,
take a nice size dinner spoon
-
and you can see it helps to guide you.
-
We'll do this.
Here we go one more time.
-
So we grab some pasta and I've
just tossed this pasta today
-
with some butter and cheese.
-
My kids love this.
-
This is a real simple way to do it.
-
And in fact, I taught my
children how to eat pasta
-
and they picked it up rather simply.
-
Okay, so you got this.
-
The one thing you want to make
sure is that you eat the pasta.
-
Boy, that's good.
-
I hope you enjoyed the video.
-
Again, I'm John Coletta.
-
I'm the executive chef and
managing partner here at Quartino.
-
I hope you enjoyed the wonderful videos
that I've prepared for you
-
and I look forward
to seeing you at Quartino.
