  • 0:04 - 0:08
    >> So, have you ever had to
    deal with a bully before?
  • 0:08 - 0:08
    >> No.
  • 0:09 - 0:13
    >> Never? You've never been bullied at all?
  • 0:13 - 0:13
    >> No.
  • 0:13 - 0:19
    >> Wow. You are sure lucky.
  • 0:20 - 0:37
Do you think you can tell if someone's
going to be a bully by the way they look?
  • 0:37 - 0:39
    >> Maybe when try to look all tough.
  • 0:39 - 0:42
    >> What do you think makes
    somebody act like a bully?
  • 0:43 - 0:45
    >> Maybe something like wrong at home.
  • 0:45 - 0:46
    >> Okay, awesome.
  • 0:46 - 0:46
    Great ideas.
  • 0:46 - 0:58
So, you're going to read a little
    story called "Keep Your Distance."
  • 0:58 - 1:09
So, I'm going to have you read out
loud for me and start with the title.
  • 1:09 - 1:13
You can start whenever you're ready.
  • 1:13 - 1:13
    >> Keep your distance.
  • 1:13 - 1:18
    Elwood was considered a tough
    guy at Anderson School.
  • 1:19 - 1:22
    Everybody call him Woody.
  • 1:22 - 1:30
They didn't dare to call him by his
full name because that riled him.
  • 1:30 - 1:32
    He was colossal in size.
  • 1:32 - 1:40
From far away, Elwood looked like Mr. Wilson, a
teacher, but the moment you saw Elwood's shoes
  • 1:40 - 1:45
    and faded, torn jeans, you
knew it could only be Elwood.
  • 1:45 - 1:48
He felt inferior because of his clothing, so
he tried to make up for it by shocking people
  • 1:48 - 1:49
with his rude behavior and toughness.
  • 1:49 - 1:52
Elwood didn't have many friends, except for Bob
who lived in the same old apartment building.
  • 1:52 - 1:52
    >> Awesome.
  • 2:14 - 2:15
    Fantastic.
  • 2:15 - 2:15
    All right.
  • 2:15 - 2:21
Now, I want you to tell me everything that
you remember starting at the beginning.
  • 2:26 - 2:43
    >> Okay. Elwood was in school and everyone
called him Elwood because if you called him
  • 2:43 - 2:55
by his first name, like his full
name, then he would like yell at you.
  • 2:59 - 3:08
    And Elwood looked like Mr.
    Wilson, a teacher over there.
  • 3:08 - 3:26
But once you saw his faded shoes and ripped
jeans, then you would know that it was Elwood.
  • 3:30 - 3:31
    >> Anything else?
  • 3:34 - 3:36
    >> Elwood was a --

  • 4:16 - 4:18
    >> And what did people think about Elwood?
  • 4:19 - 4:20
    What was Elwood considered?
  • 4:20 - 4:21
    >> A bully.
  • 4:24 - 4:25
    >> What school did he go to?
  • 4:27 - 4:28
    >> Anderson School.
  • 4:30 - 4:31
    >> What did he look like?
  • 4:32 - 4:40
    >> He had faded shoes, ripped
    jeans and [inaudible].
  • 4:41 - 4:48
    >> And what did everybody call him?
  • 4:48 - 4:58
    >> Elwood because if you called him by
his first name, he would get mad at you.
  • 5:00 - 5:01
    >> How did Elwood shock people?
  • 5:17 - 5:24
    [ Inaudible ]
  • 5:24 - 5:26
How do you think he got the nickname Woody?
  • 5:34 - 5:36
    >> Because he was so mean.
  • 5:43 - 5:46
    >> And why do you think Bob was his best friend?
  • 5:46 - 5:46
