-
We are here today
-
to say goodbye to the Irish Summer
-
taken from us cruely
-
far too soon
-
We will always remember the time we spent together.
-
Those four days in July
-
and the two at the start of June.
-
But in this short time
-
Summer left its mark on so many of us.
-
None more so than Martin.
-
Summer leaves behind
-
a rusted barbecue,
-
a set of unused beach toys
-
and a beach tent,
-
which will no longer fit back
-
in its bag.
-
Although he wasn't always there
-
when we wanted him to be
-
when he was, he was great craic
-
You know, you could be going into work and he'd turn up
-
and next thing you know
-
you'd be 16 cans deep
-
sitting on the side of a canal.
-
Oh, yeah.
-
That was just him.
-
You know
-
One minute he's there
-
and the next minute he's gone.
-
He didn't even say goodbye.
-
I spent 1300 _____ euro
-
on decking.
-
A reading from the book of July,
-
and the people waded out into the water
-
without fear.
-
Pausing for a moment at the genitals
-
but trusting in the power of the sun
-
they walked forward
-
We swam in the sea.
-
Response.
-
And it actually wasn't that bad.
-
A reading from the book of
-
Irish Barbecue 3:6
-
And then Peadar said to Pol
-
Will you have another burger?
-
I've cooked 16
-
and there is only three of us here.
-
A time to apply sunscreen
-
and a time to just take a chance.
-
A time to gather at a barbecue
-
and a time to give everyone
-
salmonella
-
We will now recite the Summer Prayer
-
Irish summer who art not long.
-
Blessed be thy heat.
-
Thy sunshine come
-
Thy sunburn stung
-
On face as it did on feet
-
A few tokens will now be presented
-
to remind us of the Irish Summer.
-
The warm can of Guinness
-
the sock
-
and
-
the sandal
-
the cheese sandwich
-
covered in sand
-
When sky's are grey
-
But sunburn will turn to tan
-
and tan in turn will fade.
-
And as we head once more into the darkness,
-
we are reminded that
-
Ah bollocks
-
Oh, come on.
-
It's still July!
-
Doomdah
-
We have added two extra shows to Galway
-
Yes, we're also coming to Cork and Wexford and Dublin.
-
Two extra chosen Dublin, too.
-
We'll see you in Canada or in the USA
-
if you want to come and visit us.
-
And in the meantime,
-
The lady in the shop was right. They wilted.
-
I should have got the fresh ones.
-
She said so and I
-
I went against her. Good judgment.
-
Saved 50cent
-
I'm really sorry.
